Very Disappointed - Poor Quality and Unprofessional Service…read more
I don't typically leave negative reviews, but my experience at this salon was disappointing enough that I feel it's important to share.
I scheduled a 4:30 PM appointment for a full set with designs. Upon arriving, we discussed the condition of my existing nails and agreed that a soak-off and new full set would be the best option. I had no problem with that recommendation or the additional time involved.
Unfortunately, things went downhill from there.
I was seated at station #9, which was noticeably dirty and cluttered. The workstation had not been properly cleaned or organized before my service. Another employee began removing my existing polish and soaking off my nails before my assigned technician arrived.
Once my technician began, I immediately felt that my service was being rushed. She was also having an extended personal phone conversation while working on my nails. I don't expect constant conversation or entertainment during an appointment, but I do expect the technician to be attentive to the service being performed. Several times, I had to pull my fingers away because the electric file was becoming uncomfortably hot against my nails.
I requested a longer almond-shaped set and showed her the design I wanted. Unfortunately, the acrylic application and overall structure of the nails were extremely poor. The nails were uneven, lacked proper shaping, and had very little structural balance. The sidewalls were not properly filed, the cuticle areas were left bulky and uneven, and acrylic was left on my skin.
On my left hand, the technician began filing before the acrylic had fully cured, resulting in a noticeable gouge in my thumbnail. Rather than properly correcting and reshaping the nail, she added another small amount of acrylic over the damaged area without adequately blending or refining it. The result was a visibly uneven nail with a scooped appearance.
At that point, I had already expressed my concerns and was becoming increasingly uncomfortable with the quality of the work. I didn't feel that my concerns were being taken seriously, and I simply wanted to finish the appointment and leave.
To give credit where it's due, the Halloween design itself was cute. The colors were what I requested, and I appreciated the little cat and witch's hat artwork. Unfortunately, even a cute design cannot make up for a poorly constructed set of nails. There are lumps, uneven surfaces, poorly shaped sidewalls, acrylic along my cuticles and skin, and areas where the polish does not completely cover the nail.
When I went to pay, I pointed out several of these issues to the employee handling my checkout. My total was $96.
I have absolutely no problem paying for quality services. What I do have a problem with is paying $96 for a full set that is so poorly executed that I now have to visit another salon and pay to have it corrected.
This was my second visit to this salon. My first experience wasn't terrible, which is why I decided to give them another opportunity. Unfortunately, after this experience, I won't be returning.
As someone who works in the professional beauty industry, I understand that appointments run behind, technicians have busy days, and things don't always go perfectly. I also understand the importance of cleanliness, proper technique, customer comfort, and giving each guest your full attention.
I would strongly encourage management to revisit expectations regarding workstation sanitation, proper acrylic application and shaping, quality control, and personal phone use while servicing guests.
From a distance, my nails may look acceptable. Up close, however, the lack of attention to detail and poor workmanship are obvious.
I left feeling rushed, unheard, and extremely disappointed in both the service and the final result. For $96, I expected considerably better.
