The mushroom outdoor lights that everyone uses in the Bay Area, and which we had installed 12 yeas ago, easily decay and become unsightly. We are tremendously pleased with the results. Fred has an excellent eye for aesthetics. He made several recommendations, which we adopted, on changes to the vegetation in our front yard to make our house look better. I really wanted to like this team. They appeared to do a great job installing canned lighting in our living room. However after they left we discovered that our appliances in the kitchen didn't work. They had all blown out. When I inquired about it, the owner said it was likely a coincidence. Seemed to be a strange coincidence so I hired another electrician to inspect the work and he discovered they took short cuts that caused a surge of power to my kitchen appliances, causing them to blow out. After I told Creative Lighting what I discovered, they did pay for replacement and repair work on the appliances that were damaged. If you take short cuts and damage someone's home, it's far better to own it than making me audit the work. Builds distrust. read more

I am beyond thrilled with the work Fred just completed at my house which was 4 large rooms of can lights, 3 rooms of adding electricity to ceilings and installing fans. His design plans exactly met my needs and wants and the installation was flawless. He also swapped out some lighting so that all the light tones match and flow seamlessly. I had Fred and his team come back for some additional work today. 5 fixtures were installed (2 wall sconces, a ceiling light for the house) and a ceiling fan and track light for the garage for the man cave. Arrived promptly on time took the time to talk to me to understand what I wanted. I had the opportunity to watch Fred and his worker actually install the wall sconces. I notice that great care was taken to ensure he didn't track in dirty shoes while he worked. If there was a question, Fred answered it without hesitation. He even made suggestions on where to place the ceiling fan in the garage. Something I didn't really thought out well. Fred and his entire team did a wonderful job with our lighting. Fred is so knowledgeable and easy to communicate with, whether phone, text or email. He upgraded my service panel to 200 amps, replaced all of the electrical outlets and lighting in my family room, added security lighting to the outside of my house and added some much needed power outlets to my garage and backyard. Fred came highly recommended by a neighbor for a job to upgrade my electrical panel. I met Fred and discussed the work. I knew right away I was talking to a professional with a sense of humor. I was going on vacation and was confident enough to hand over my house keys to Fred. Fred kept me posted with progress and even sent photos of his progress to my phone. He made all arrangements with PGE and followed through with them well after he was already paid. This review is long overdue. I have one word to describe Fred and his crew - PROFESSIONAL. I first called Fred based on a friend's referral and have been a delighted repeat customer. Communication is excellent. Customer service is excellent. Quality of service is excellent. I first used CLS to "creatively" install some track lights in my raised ceiling, exposed beam living room. I wanted the lights to be installed on the bottom of the beams. Fred cleanly installed the tracks so that NO wires or molding are visible. He carefully drilled an 18" long hole through the beam so that the track appears to be powered wirelessly! I also had Fred do a "big" job - upgrading our electrical panel to 200 amps. Again his work was performed timely and meticulously. An added bonus - they clean up after themselves at the end of each workday! A broom and vacuum cleaner are important tools for CLS. We hired Fred and his team from Creative Lighting Solutions to install a very heavy chandelier in our foyer, but liked them so much we asked them to install a light fixture in our dining room and rewire our hallway switches as well. Fred may not be the most inexpensive electrician, but he is easy to work with, reliable, and professional. He also offers a 10% discount to UC grads! He and his staff (Jose) worked quickly and cleanly during our two-day project. They were both very conscientious about leaving our home in the same condition as when they arrived. Their work was meticulous and thorough. I was a bit concerned about the ability of our ceiling to support the expensive, 150lb crystal chandelier we had purchased from Restoration Hardware. In the past, we have used Fred and his crew, to install lighting in our kitchen and family room. Most recently, he did all of the electrical work for our bathroom remodel, including installing new circuits through our basement to the second floor He has always given an accurate and honest estimate. In fact for the current job, he did the work for labor and materials, which worked out just fine. Usually the cost of the estimates are "average" in comparison to others, but the workmanship is "excellent." He is always looking for ways to do things efficiently and intelligently. We had an absolutely wonderful experience with Fred Kawamoto's Creative Lighting Solutions and would recommend him unreservedly. We had Fred upgrade our house's 60 amp service to 200 amps, install some can lights and add several new circuits to better distribute the load. Fred suggested his home wiring analysis before beginning the project and I would strongly recommend that service for any owner of an older home or any home with a lot of "mystery" wiring. Despite some unforeseen issues working around the structure of the house, the work came in very close to Fred's initial estimate even though he did a number of jobs that we had not initially planned upon. He was extremely communicative throughout the whole process and updated us regarding progress and costs. In addition, he was very receptive to our requests, even if it often made his job more difficult.
