I'm so glad that granddaughter goes to this school. I attend many events and find the teachers are happy and the students are thriving. The school has excellent leadership and educational practices. If you are curious, look them up on Facebook to see all the wonderful educational activities they offer! I cannot recommend this school highly enough.

They would show me papers he'd torn up and pictures of his messy desk and then pull out 5 page long papers he'd written brilliantly and tell me, "He's clearly capable, but just doesn't care." Other schools would tell me how he's so kind to the other students, especially those getting bullied, and then he'd come home in tears because of how he saw others being treated - by teachers and students alike - and I could feel how isolated he felt. Now he runs a Dungeons and Dragons campaign with 4 other students on the weekends and their laughter fills our home. Now he's a peer mentor and helps resolve disputes, at a student level, when they arise. Now his teachers tell me how amazing and intuitive his questions are, how funny he can be, and how dedicated he is when he finds a topic that really interests him. My son comes home now and tells me about his day. My daughter wantsto go to school and pretends notto be sick sometimes, in the hopes I won't keep her home. I feel like Kino is all the best of what homeschooling is, but with teachers better than I could be at this point in my life. I don't feel as though I'm failing every morning when I drop them off at the front door. I feel, instead, that even when we can't do family dinners or I'm so busy with other obligations I barely see them for several days in a row - I feel like, it's okay because I'm doing something right. Arguably the biggest thing I can do right for them at this age.

Walking in the front gate…read moreyou see the beautiful mountains in the background and happy children giggling and working together in the foreground. Normally with this many children in one area there is usually bound to be someone screaming, someone crying, and general chaos. That is the furthest thing from the serene scenes playing out here day after day. When my son first started Mis Manos he had difficulty with the transition and would cry quite a bit when I dropped him off and later in the day when other mommies and daddies came and he was still at school. During those first few weeks what impressed me the most was the fact that even if he was crying (and it was very little) he was always being held or comforted by a teacher. He was never left in a corner anywhere during his difficult transition. As a first time mom this was incredibly reassuring. Now my son has been attending this school for nearly four months he loves it there. In fact we bumped his schedule up to 5 days a week because he would ask to see his teachers and his friends. He has improved in his listening and communicating so much and is always happy and tired when he comes home. I always ask him how his day was, and he beams and says "Good!" usually followed by some babbling about what he did (2 year olds aren't always the easiest to understand) and a very exuberant "Alba!" (his teacher). We pack his lunch and water bottle each day and he brings them right into his classroom. He's also learned that whenever he goes outside he should ask for his hat and sunscreen which is an added bonus! I do also want to point out that their toddler class, which my son is in, does not require them to be potty trained and begins at 18months. There is a waiting list and for good reason, this is an amazing school! I also hear they are cloth-diaper friendly, we asked but haven't gotten our stuff together to bring to them so we've been using disposables. I recommend this school to anyone and everyone I meet!

In her Mis Manos classroom, my daughter was surrounded by adults with decades of experience and a thorough knowledge of child development. They created a beautiful learning environment for the children and organized a structured schedule filled with a variety of learning activities and opportunities for growth. Parents beware…read more TLDR: The direct school administrative staff including Desiree and Kristina were not helpful and frankly were avoidant, dismissive, and uncaring about a resolution to the same concern. These two individuals are not fit to be in positions of directing a place for young children and families. Cadence Academy corporate were kind & helpful following a challenging situation. We chose Cadence, after months of researching & touring for our 3 month old son when I returned to work after maternity leave. On the first day of daycare at Cadence Academy we had the ability to see the classroom through video access and as an anxious, first time, parents, we watched as often as we were allowed to. Our son spent a significant amount of time in a bouncer. It appeared that he was given attention infrequently by the singular teacher in the classroom of several babies. We received a phone call asking if it was okay for our baby to sleep in the bouncer if he was comfortable. This was not something that we wanted, but as it was our first day at daycare, we were a little nervous about anything going wrong and felt that perhaps this was a helpful recommendation from a teacher in the classroom. Watching the video even longer our son appeared to spend about five hours in the bouncer and did not receive that much of an attempt at having a milk bottle across that time, which was disheartening. We were told that he refused the bottle from his teacher. When I asked Desiree why another teacher didn't attempt to feed our son the bottle she said, "we want him to get used to his teacher feeding him", as though feeding our 3 month old wasn't the priority. After a frustrating first day, we decided that it would be our son's last day as we felt that the teacher was not doing an adequate job of caring for our son, nor was the teacher following the guidelines of the handbook that we were made to read and sign. We spoke with the assistant director, Desiree, and let her know that we were withdrawing our son as we did not want to risk any potential harm or future bad days. Our son has been at a different daycare in town, which has been an absolute blessing. The kindness & attentiveness provided by the teachers at the new daycare and the administrative staff have been wonderful showing us that Cadence really had let us down with just one day at their facility. We thought that our time with Cadence was in the past. That was until we received a notice that we were sent to collections in June, an entire 8 months after we unenrolled our son. We called to speak with the Cadence administrative staff to inquire why we were in collections when we hadn't heard from them since we left in October. We were informed that we owed for the week that he was enrolled & we were also charged a $25 fee for not fulfilling the payment in the first place. The frustrating thing about this is that we were unaware of any outstanding bill. At NO point in time did Cadence Academy reach out to us to let us know that we had an outstanding bill as they had previously had all of our banking information to accept deposits and previous payments. They had our email, phone numbers, & mailing address but no notices or bills came. It took 2 weeks to finally get in touch with someone that could answer our questions (thank you Theresa). Kristina (director) & Desiree (assistant director) were beyond unhelpful. When we asked Desiree who they answered to, we were told "corporate" but weren't given any helpful leads as to who to speak with. Instead we were given the generalized Cadence Academy phone number- which is just a VM & after many calls & messages, not one was returned. It wasn't until we used the websites chatbot to access a live agent who was helpful enough to get us in contact with the regional director. The regional director was able to resolve our concern & pay us back the money (as it was agreed that none of this should have happened given the circumstances). The admin team at Cadence Academy OV should be under review for their inability to do their job effectively.

It broke my heart but felt it was normal part of the transition from staying at home with me all day. He hated going, hated the thought of going and after I had disenrolled both boys, it took both of them 2 years to recover from the trauma they had experienced from the prior daycare. At Desert Skies preschool/childcare my boys were meet with love and genuine open arms. I have to commend the staff for their open, continuous communication. The center is so clean and when I pick up my boys at the end of the day the facility smells amazing!!! The director Kimmy has been super helpful and knowledgeable. I had concerns about my child not wanting to nap however, with the help from Kimmy, they have made accommodations for him helping him expand his penmanship and other learning skills that will help him transition into kindergarten. Granted, I know I can be a little overbearing as a mom. I ask a lot of questions about his care, and I'm heavily involved in his life. But at the end of the day, I'm a single-mom of one, and he is my pride and joy. I just want to make sure he's receiving the care he deserves. We have to advocate for our little ones when they can't advocate for themselves. The new Director, Kimberly Petersberg (aka Kimmy), is awful! She comes to work smelling like cigarettes and has horrible mannerisms. The communication between staff and parents is horrible. Half the time, they don't answer the phones or the phones don't work. There have been many instances where they have said my child did something, or he got hurt. When I've asked to see the camera footage, they've fought me so hard on it. It has taken months to see footage, and when I did get to see some, it was a 20 sec snippet of one incident. I have picked my kiddo up to a busted face with absolutely no call that he had gotten injured to such magnitude. This has happened on multiple occasions (not such a serious injury, but serious enough injuries nonetheless). I've done my part in escalating concerns but there's been no resolve. One may ask, why haven't I taken him out? Don't worry. I've been looking for other centers. The unfortunate part is that I have to work everyday to provide for my child. I'm a single-parent and his sole financial support. It's hard finding time to secure the perfect place, but it's something I have been actively working on. I'll just say: it shouldn't take that. Some serious changes need to take place at this school, and I truly hope someone steps in to make those changes. Don't get me wrong: the place has gotten some cute upgrades, but I'd rather have ugly decor than awful care. There's a reason why so many familes have left (I can name 5 families in just the year we've been attending who've left bc of the awful care). & let's not discuss the amount of staff turnover :/ But almost worst of all (I'm sure it's a blessing in disguise), instead of addressing my concerns and taking appropriate action, the new Regional Director, Jon Aitken, calls me to a meeting to " discuss the ongoing concerns you have regarding care at Desert Skies." In reality, it was to let me know they were discontinuing my kid's care effective immediately. I'm finding this out, Monday 10/20 at 4:45p. They delivered that information with no notice, so now I'm gonna have to take off work last minute to find care for my kid. This is what a lack of accountability and abuse of power looks like. Disgusting!
