I had a massage here today with Carlene. I probably wouldn't have ever gone into this place if I didn't have a Groupon, it doesn't look like much from the outside, but it's in a great location in Park Slope. I didn't know what to expect because massages can be pretty hit or miss, but Carlene had me feeling like a jellyfish by the time she was done with me. Between the stretching of my muscles and the actual massage (she even massaged my ears...my EARS...total bliss), this was exactly what I needed. I coma'd out on the table at the end and by the time I walked out, she actually needed to fix my hair for me before I left the place. It wasn't the BEST massage I've ever had, which is why it doesn't get five stars, but as far as massages go, I'm hard to please. My mother and I went in for facials last week and it was fantastic! Yelpers, if you are looking for a trustworthy esthetician, then ask for Eve! I selected a one hour facial and I only wish I had picked one for longer! She communicated with me on how to improve my skin and made me feel well taken care of. I have been going to creative hair for the past 4 years. It's by far my favorite spa in not just Brooklyn but NYC as well. Their facials, massages, mani, pedis, all spa treatments basically are amazing and the women who do them are seriously so sweet and talented. I also get my hair cut there and I LOVE it everytime. Creative has been my go-to spot for awesome hair styles, and this is coming from a guy. I've been a loyal client to Steven for 3 years and every single time I show up, he looks at my hair, sends me to get washed, then works his magic. He has never, ever disappointed me. Creative was also the salon that helped my wife and our bridesmaids prepare for our big day. On our wedding day, creative helped style her and her team of bridesmaid's hair and make-up, with all three coming out beautifully. My wife, however, came out looking better than what I dreamed of. Looking back, my wife thanks this place for helping her on what would've been a very stressful day. Can't say enough good things about this place. Gosh, what can I say; I got so much more and beyond what I asked for. NIDA is magic in real life! Her skill, creativity and communication skills are superb. I asked for a color, cut and Brazilian blowout. This was my first time with her, 2nd in the salon. The process and the care was spectacular!!! The color came out so luscious, others in the salon were asking for it, even one lady that works at the salon. This was an investment, the best one I've made in about a year, maybe more!!! I moved here a few months ago and left behind my lifelong hairdresser. He had been cutting my hair exclusively for almost 20 years and I was very afraid to have someone else cut it. I kept having horrible visions of my hair chopped to pieces. I called Creative Hair & Spa and explained my issue. I have pretty easy hair to cut...long, straight, and fine. I wanted to go much shorter. The receptionist (I really wish I had gotten her name!) gave me an appointment just a couple of hours away and assured me that I had nothing to worry about. "I think you'll be happy!" Is exactly what she said. And she meant it when she said it, so it really helped me to feel less nervous. When I got to my appointment she remembered me from my phone call and showed me where to hang my coat. She was cheerful and made me feel right at home. My stylist was Stephen and he was ready for me when I got there. No waiting at all. I sat and explained to him what I wanted and showed him some pictures that I had with me. I felt like he really took his time and made sure that he knew exactly what I wanted even before my hair was washed. He took the same amount of care in executing the cut as he had during the consultation. I left with exactly what I asked for. My hair looks great and I couldn't be happier. I feel like I really lucked out when I called Creative Hair. The experience couldn't have been more pleasant, phone call and all. The next time I get my hair cut it will definitely be with Stephen. Was looking for a new place for highlights and after reading some reviews on here, took a leap. I'm so happy I did. My hair looks amazing! I have been getting highlights for 15 years and never had they look this healthy, shiny and bright. This salon a bit pricey but great. I love that if you have an appointment there is literally no wait time. The staff is very nice. Nice and clean salon. Refreshments are also offered. My daughter saw Senada for some caramel highlights. She didn't used any bleach on her hair since she had virgin hair which I really liked the fact that Senada protected my daughters hair. we both loved the end results. My hairdresser Stephen is amazing. He's very professional and friendly. All thru the session he made recommendations on how to keep my hair healthy and let no know what he was doing and putting on my hair all through the consult. Wow! I just got legs and brazilian waxed here and Lina did an amazing job. She is such a pro. She has so much experience and it really makes a world of a difference. This weekend I had the works (base color, highlights and cut) by Steve - man is this guy talented. He's a true artist. My hair looks great! He has great chairside manner. He sat with me and looked at my hair asked what I wanted and what I liked, then made his suggestions. He was highly recommended to me so I went with his suggestions and I'm so very happy I let him do his thing! I felt like a star when I left. I will definitely be back ! OK, here is what I got at The Famous Shahag Workshop in Manhattan: shampoo, dry cut and blow-out. $230 plus tips. Here is what I got at Creative Hair: color consult, color correction, base color, highlights, gloss, shampoo, haircut, blow-dry. $200 plus tips. The Yelp reviews pointed me in the direction of Stephen, I called on a Saturday and was able to get an appointment with him the next day. The salon was full of friendly people, it is clean and has wonderful shampoo chairs where you can put your feet up (a pet peeve of mine because I have short legs). Stephen was great at the consultation - he saw the major mistake that was made with coloring at another area salon which will remain nameless, gave his suggestions on how to correct the color, which matched what I'd had in mind, he consulted with another colorist to get her opinion on his plan, and only then, when we all agreed, did he start the color/highlights process. I loved the results, my hair was as close to my natural color as it is possible to get and the highlights were the correct tones! Just perfect. I'm giving Creative Hair four stars instead of five because there were a few negatives but I think all the negatives sprung from one problem: either they overbooked or they took too many walk-ins. It was out-of-control busy. At one point, there were five customers, including me, in the shampoo chairs for various treatments, with a few people waiting in the chairs for shampoos. The poor assistant, the very perky and friendly Pat, was overwhelmed while the other assistant, who shall remain nameless, was MIA. Finally, several of the stylists had to jump in and finish up their clients' treatments/shampoos themselves. Stephen had to remove my foils and rinse me. I don't blame Pat at all, it seemed everyone was overwhelmed. I also blame the rush for the fact that they totally forgot to color my eyebrows which I requested twice. And I'm tempted to blame the rush for the quality of my haircut. When I got back to Stephen's station after the coloring was finished, he asked if I was just getting a blow-dry or a cut. I had booked a long appointment with the understanding it was for a color/cut/blow-dry. So he started the cut, trying to follow the lines of my Sahag cut (which was an excellent cut, just expensive) and he did a good job. I looked great when I left the salon, but I felt so rushed at the end of the appointment and I think he cut a little too fast. I will definitely return to Stephen but I hope to book on a a less busy day and see if I will be able to give them the full five stars. read more

My only experience at this salon has been with Stephen, but I've been going to him for about a year now and I won't go anywhere else. He is really sweet and pleasant and most importantly I LOVE the way he does my hair. I've gotten highlights, regular color, and cuts from him, and every time has been awesome. Sometimes I walk in wanting my same old thing and sometimes i want something different and new, and he's always got an idea--and then listens when I respond with what I think of it. I must give compliments to both John( if you hair whats considered "Ethnic hair, hes your guy) for giving me a wonderful haircut and style, i mean it was just amazing, and its about time i visit him for a trim. Also, Senada (there are like 5 senadas there, but im talking about the curly hair girl) I was a bit timid to go to her and she seem frightend by my hair but she understands with curly hair its hard to.find a good stylist and she actually was able to do my hair, my curly unruly hair, she also did my makeup and it came out beautifully. I've been going to Creative for the better part of 15 years. And I think they're great. I currently go to Bibi, the owner, who always does marvelous cuts and now I've been getting highlights (also great) from her for a couple of years. Scheduling an appointment has never been a problem; everyone I've spoken to has been helpful. Occasionally a bit busy, but never rude. Actually everyone I have spoken to has been helpful - from the phone, the front desk, the hair stylists, and the styling assistants who wash hair (somebody here commented about being looked at and sent to have her hair washed... everybody gets their hair washed... EVERYBODY. When I first started coming to Creative that was the one thing I didn't understand because I was used to small town stylists who just wetted the hair and then cut it and so I always washed my hair right before coming to the salon and they would still send me to the have it washed. So please people... it's not personal; it's the way they do things... consider it a 5-minute scalp massage for a kind tip). They have always accommodated me even when I made huge mistakes ( I showed up on the wrong day/right time - doh - but they still squeezed me in). I can't speak much about the spa services. I've only had one massage there, and I had a killer backache at the time so it's a little tough for me to review. But it certainly wasn't a wimpy massage as far as I was concerned, and she was sensitive to my pain tolerance and careful not to hurt/harm me, and I felt better after the massage, so I was very pleased with the result. Again, this is a great business that is responsive to customers. They do great work. And I've always been treated well there. read more

If your looking for an awesome hair salon, your search is over! I re-discovered Creative after a very long absence due me thinking that the city was a better option for me! Call me dumb, stupid or just insane because the city just about destroyed my hair and left me broke!! After a great deal of bad hair months, I decided to give Creative a call and happen to speak to Bibe at about 12 last Thursday, After some negotiating, lol, she asked me to come in by 5pm the latest to do color, highlights, and cut and that she would find someone to take care of me. As luck would have it, I got there at 4pm and Bibi herself squeezed me into her already tight schedule and MAGIC HAPPENED! My horribly colored and cut hair got a full makeover. My cut is amazing, the color even better with lucious highlights that make my skin color just come to life! Thank You Bibi for doing a wonderful job and making this girl a very happy woman!!!! Got a facial here a few weeks ago. I haven't experienced the salon or the other spa services. I was nervous going in since I was putting my face in their hands but I took a chance. When I was in the room, the aesthetician was already trying to sell me services like a chemical peel on top of my $75 facial telling me my skin looked horrible. I can tell you my skin was not that disgusting and I just needed a deep cleaning and extractions. Once I turned down her chemical peel, she said "its your face, do whatever you want. You know how much the facial cost right?" Yes I know how much it cost, its not a matter of not wanting to spend the money, its the fact that I am young and Asian with luckily good skin so I don't need a chemical peel. After I turned her down, she was no longer "into" the facial. She didn't say a word and kept walking out of the room during my session. Once my session was over, she was really sweet telling me to come back again and took my information but I am not sure if I will go back. Overall the facial was good but I don't want you to sell me something I don't need. Also, the front desk needs an attitude adjustment. I wanted to pay and I was ignored for a bit while they were chatting amongst themselves. Then I asked if I could put a tip on the charge slip and was given a sharp "no." Thank goodness I had some cash on me but how rude. I would go back for another facial but the attitude needs to change. read more

I cannot believe the way we were treated by the owner of this salon!!!! Being a salon owner myself, I was horrified to find that the woman I was speaking to, Sonata was really the owner. We have been frequenting this salon for manicures, pedicures and facials for over a year. My partner NEVER missed an appointment, NEVER was late for an appointment. Today we had to change an appointment. We wanted to move it to Saturday and we were told that there were many appointments available Before she knew we had an appt. today. When We told Sonata we wanted to move the appt to Saturday she proceeded to badger us and bully us in an attempt to force us to keep our appt. telling us that she could have given that appt. to many other people. I well know that is the case as it happens in my salon all the time however I don't yell at my clients and bully them. In the end, she was yelling , speaking over me and told me " she had no problem losing us as clients." My salon is on Long Island and I would never get away with treating my clients like this, but I am sure geography has nothing to do with good customer service. And Sonata ... Yours is horrific.
