I've been looking at a number of vendors to replace the concrete driveway of my house. Walker was the most informed, helpful, and easy to work with out of all of the contractors I talked to. He was willing to spend the time to explain the entire process, the options available to me, and what I should expect. When talking over the job it turned out that what I was looking to do wasn't the best match for his team and work, but he still answered my questions and was happy to share my knowledge. We highly recommend Creative Concrete! They re-surfaced our patio, replaced steps, and replaced and widened our driveway. It all looks great! We had them do stamped patterns and add color to the concrete to better match the colors of our home. Our neighbors have stopped by to complement the look of it. In the process of planning and execution, Walker explained everything and answered all our questions. He helped us pick out the color combination and suggested ways to enhance the look. This included adding a border which we are really happy with. He kept us informed of the progress, as we were away on a short vacation for a couple of the days. Walker worked really hard after my review to follow up and correct the issue. He is a really nice guy and truly felt bad that this issue lingered. His team ended up applying a new layer of overlay concrete that didn't turn out great at first so they then used a color hardener and sealer. The concrete is no longer swirly with a strange pattern. The gray color of the concrete that is the finished product is not what I ideally wanted years ago (just plain concrete) but at this point Walker has done everything he could. I did pick out the color with him also. Just wish I went lighter I suppose. He even went above and beyond and cut a little trench in the concrete along a wall that was having some drainage issues. Walkers crew is also always great to work with- very clean and nice. I appreciate Walkers sincerity and making it right. read more

Creative Concrete (Walker Simpson); called on May 2021 for driveway custom project in Silver Spring which included stamped concrete. Even though the workmanship was above average; it seemed overpriced. For an approximate 800 SQ ft driveway costs @ $4-5K. Perhaps stamping concrete may cost little more. We were charged over $12K. How about warranty or one-time service? ...not a lot there. Although, a follow up call to remove residue and or sealer build up cost another @ $1,600. Simply, adding sealers or colors to concrete could make for additional costs. Not to say, this concept isn't innovative...it's just simply profitable. Kudos to the concept. Consumers must consider the value of concrete and why most don't take the bait. read more

I can't say enough about this business and the owner! This was probably not a huge project for them, but they listened to our needs carefully and made sure everything came out the way we needed it to. They showed up on time and the finished product far exceeded our expectations. It looks beautiful, and has retained the initial look through many seasons. Two years after the initial install, I dropped wood stain on the patio while doing my deck. I called for advice on how to best clean it, and I was blown away when a team of guys came over and took care of the situation. You don't find service like that anymore. Ever. read more

This review is a follow up to a review by "JaNay S." posted on October 23, 2022 regarding installation of a new concrete driveway and a treatment of water repelling sealant performed earlier that month. That review indicated that a visible residue could be seen on the surface resulting from that sealant application, and generally questioned whether the driveway could be considered a good investment compared to other options. This review was not drafted by me, but rather was submitted by an individual who no longer lives at my residence, and didn't necessarily reflect my viewpoint. Subsequent to that posting, over the summer of 2023, Walker Simpson followed up with me (as sole purchaser of the driveway and owner of this property) to indicate that he wanted to apply another more translucent, if not less protective, water-repelling sealant in an effort to improve the appearance of the October 2022 treatment, which I had additionally paid Creative Concrete to apply. Shortly after Walker's call, Creative Concrete personnel applied another coating free of charge, and in this posting I wish to report that this coating left less (if any) white residue, and generally I note some improvement the driveway's appearance, which was already quite attractive, but incrementally improved due to the reduction in visible residue. As of December 2023, water on the driveway continues to bead well, indicating full protection that should last at least another year. With the proper maintenance, I have every reason to believe this is a high-quality driveway that will keep its attractive appearance for many years to come. Certainly, this driveway, with its stamped concrete pattern and color pigment application that complements my house's exterior, is vastly more appealing in appearance and retains less heat in the summer months (due to its lighter appearance) than a standard asphalt driveway. I have confidence that my driveway installed by Creative Concrete will stand the test of time as an economically competitive alternative to paver or other driveway installation options of similar quality. The work Walker and his crew did looks great. Did not meet all my requirements, but I can understand since my project may have been beyond their normal scope. It was a patio against the back of my house. They ended up leaving a gap that causes a draft. If it was done right, the concrete would have been an inch higher. I've asked them to fill in the gap at the back of the house several times with no luck. There is fee for credit card use. I was also charged for parging which seemed a little ridiculous since if they would have done things right from the start parging may have not been needed. Just goes to show Walker will nickle and dime you to death. Looks awesome though. read more

Horrible experience. To me this is not a professional business, it seems more like a scam company due to the way I was treated. It's like they have zero clue how to respect people, with regards to time and lack of communication. Mess around with them and you'll see what I'm talking about for yourself. So do yourself a favor, and don't waste your time or money dealing with these creative clowns, it's not worth dealing with the circus. By reading the other negative reviews, I think what they are doing can also be considered a form of discrimination, so keep that in mind. Our experience with Walker and his company, Creative Concrete, was great. We wanted to install a large patio in our Kensington, MD back yard, but after getting several slate stone estimates for more than $20k, we found Creative Concrete. Walker gave us a list of houses he had done work for in our neighborhood so that we could drive around and inspect his work. We saw a variety of styles and decided to give him a try. He was able to start the project within the week and finished within 7 days. His crew was polite and well managed. The patio looks amazing and we have already spent more time outside in the past two weeks than we had spent in the year prior living here. This past December I enjoyed working with Walker Simpson and his team at Creative Concrete to have a beautiful stamped concrete patio put in my backyard. It was clear from the outset that Walker's main concern was making sure my wife and I were satisfied with the project and every time I look into my backyard I smile from ear to ear. I got several quotes before signing a contract with Creative Concrete and not only was his pricing very fair and competitive but even more than that the professionalism and expertise that he brought to the project made me confident that we had made the right choice. His entire team exuded confidence in each element of the process and I felt more at ease with the progress every time I spoke with them. I especially appreciated the patience, professionalism and know-how from the project foreman, Cornelius. He had a perfect way of listening to my ideas and tweaking suggestions to make sure what I was saying would actually end up looking good. He would offer suggestions regarding changing curvatures at the corners to get more space and to mark off space for future landscaping. One of my main concerns was how the layout of the patio would affect the drainage of water from our property as we live at the bottom of a hill. Leveling and drainage was painstakingly calculated and measured before any concrete was brought in. Additionally a pretty extensive system of drainage spouts was installed underneath the patio. I have already begun thinking of other projects, like our front walkway and porch that I'd like to bring Walker and his awesome team back for. There are a million contractors out there. If I could rate them a "zero" I would. I recently called this company only to request a quote for their services. I believe it was the owner that called me back and he had to be one of the most unprofessional business owners I've ever dealt with ... he kept shuffling his words - to the point I couldn't even understand what he was trying to saying - but basically what he said was that he would not accept projects that caused him to travel across the beltway for less than $10K. So instead of giving me a clear answer for what the cost of the project I requested would be - he just kept talking in circles and telling me how busy he is with his current jobs. If a business only wants to provide services to people within a certain mile radius and for a certain min $ amount - than that should be clear on their website ... don't advertise on your website "an affordable alternative", if you only want to gain business from people with huge, high cost projects. He could of saved me the phone call and my time if his website was honest. He contradicted everything he put on his website. I'm glad not to do business with this company. Any customer looking for professionalism and cost efficiency - don't do business with this company - if anything he will hike the cost of the project up or try to get you to do more than you wanted - just so he can meet his $10K min.
