The contractor gave no notice repeatedly and showed up on site to complete work while nobody was…read morehome. One day when they were supposed to come and paint, they did not show up. Only carpenters for interior work on Unit 2 showed up. The interior work on Unit 2 was a separate project. When talking with the owner of the company, all conversations involved shouting at me. The contractor did not use proper ladder safety. The feet of ladders where not down. Ladders were not tied off. Ladders were used on un-even surfaces. When instructed to fix these conditions they argued back and belittled me. Eventually the ladders were tied off in one location, but not two as required. When a ladder was placed on a lower roof level, protection for the roof was not provided. The house is older, and it is a requirement to assume all of the paint is lead based. When interviewing the contractor prior to hiring, they stated that all paint would be removed in a safe and legal manner. The paint was hand scraped and sanded, throwing dust everywhere. At the end of the day, the paint dust and chips were swept up, not following MA state law on lead safe work. When i requested that the contractors comply with safe scraping and sanding methods, they left the site. Plastic over windows was not fully taped and air tight. This does not prevent the lead dust from entering the interior. They only taped the windows immediately adjacent to the work, not the windows within 5 feet of the corner on the opposite side they were working.

He communicated with us throughout the project of installing a new Timberteck deck. His crew worked straight on through from start to finish without empty lapses of time. The men are so highly skilled. We continue to be happy with our beautiful deck. Therefore, we asked Ruy to install a Timberteck stair rail at our front doors, which also has withstood the test of time. We'd been concerned that installments like this would compromise the brick, whereby requiring a total rebuild, but a rebuild wasn't necessary. He also advise us on an easy and effective fix to divert water from flowing from the gutter and freezing to ice on those brick steps in winter. Based on the outcome of these projects, and our experience in their progression, we highly recommend this company.

Brutal experience with them back in 2022-2024. They were supposed to build a new rubber roof. It started leaking on 3 separate occasions (which btw was never fully fixed -- we moved on to different contractors who did address the issues). And like I said, it would take months for them to actually come back and attempt to fix anything. Often they'd come by, look at the damage, then I wouldn't hear from them for multiple weeks. Meanwhile, more damage continues to accrue to the walls and ceilings. The internal fixes they applied for the water damage were just patch jobs. They just plastered and painted over. Meanwhile, the insulation behind the wall was soaked and accrued black mold that we had to address later. Also worth pointing out a major blunder at the beginning of the project (see attached videos and pics). They opened up the roof, and left it open for multiple days without doing any work. Well of course a major rainstorm came by (which was on the weather forecast well in advance). Alll that water poured into the house in the middle of the night setting off fire alarms. It was a nightmare to deal with on my end.

Our experience with Wander was fantastic from start to finish. Wander promptly responded to all our questions during the quoting process and came by multiple times at our request to ensure we were fully informed about the process, timelines, and expectations. He worked with our schedules to ensure minimal disruption, which we were very thankful for, having an infant son. The project was executed seamlessly and Wander kept communication open with us the entire time. He was proactive in telling us that a few extra days were needed to complete the project. We couldn't be more happy with the results! His team went above and beyond, even touching up and painting different spots inside and outside the house that weren't originally in scope, at no extra cost. The team kept a clean work environment and left no trace that they were even in our home. When a few minor issues were identified post-project, Wander was quick to address them. We will most certainly be reaching out to Wander and Crane Carpentry for our next renovation project.

Wander is professional, quick to respond, fair in price, and always willing to stop by to discuss plans and progress. We were so pleased with his work on the deleading, that we expanded our work with him to include a near-gut renovation of our kitchen, whole house painting, tile work, and some custom carpentry. All were done quickly and at a high quality. I can't complain at all. I highly recommend Wander for really any project that you have, but especially custom carpentry work.
