From the initial consultation, it was clear we were dealing with true professionals. They really know their stuff when it comes to structural work, which gave us a lot of confidence going into the project. They took care of all the permits and engineering approvals and made sure we understood exactly what was happening at each stage. The wall removal itself was done flawlessly. They installed a support beam that looks like it was always part of the house seamless and solid. The difference it made is incredible. The space feels brighter, bigger, and much more open. After the structural work, they handled the full renovation of the first floor including new flooring, lighting, drywall, and paint. Every part of it was done with great attention to detail. The quality of the work really shows and they were respectful of our home the entire time. Always on time, kept things clean, and communicated well throughout. We're absolutely in love with our new space. It feels like a brand-new home. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend True Structural and Construction to anyone thinking about a major reno or structural changes. You want people who know what they're doing and who actually care about the results. These are those people. Thank you to the whole team. You truly transformed our home.

We worked with an architect to…read moredesign the porch, and had a really hard time finding a contractor that was responsive and seemed to want the job. Leader was a little more expensive than some bids we got, but I honestly think when changing the face of your house, you get what you pay for. Leader dealt with the City, the permits, the architect, and managed every detail of the project. Lauren dealt with permits and the front end of the project (because I knew nothing when we started all this), and Kaitlyn (construction manager) managed all the contractors and worked with us to deal with contingencies as they arose. We replaced the windows and door on the front of the house. We excavated 14,000 pounds of concrete stairs (layered for over 100 years), we replaced the siding on the front. We had roofers and electricians to deal with. The carpenters that built the porch (Zenon!!!) were masterful and executed the architectural plans perfectly. The structure and roof were completed in 6 weeks start to finish. I appreciate how communicative Leader is, I appreciate how carefully and neatly their contractors worked, I appreciate that every single person who worked on our property was incredibly professional. We absolutely adore our porch. It looks like a totally different house. We couldn't be more pleased with the work of this excellent company.

Apparently, before calling them, you need to know how much your construction project will cost. I guess our money is not good enough for these people.

Bruno may not mean to scam you, but he will take your money and then do nothing for months. He will not apply for permits, and he will tell you your town/city is the problem. He will blame every delay or broken promise on circumstances outside of his own control. During that time, he will use your money to finish his other projects or (probably) pay his other bills. If you ask for your money back, he will tell you he has bought materials but never provide any proof. If you call Bruno out for his poor performance, he will gaslight you and again blame everyone but himself, including you. I decided to work with Bruno despite a few bad reviews. I figured everyone makes mistakes. But when Bruno makes them, he will not make them right. The only reason I have not pursued a lawsuit against him is that lawyers cost money and Bruno has a history of not paying the settlements against him. It's possible that Bruno has improved his business practices in the year since we last interacted, but I wouldn't bet on it. Neither should you.

We were very pleased with the outcome. I want to especially recognize the stellar work done by Bryan Lamoureux, head carpenter. For years, I had nightmares that the second floor of the house was going to collapse. When Bryan took the kitchen ceiling back to the bare joists, he found out that somebody had cut massive holes in those joists to run a pipe through them. This made the house structurally unsound. Bryan showed us the holes and proposed a solution to make the house sound. The "bounce" that we experienced while walking around on the second floor disappeared, and so did my nightmares. Bryan is a superb young carpenter with old-school knowledge and values. Thank you, Bryan! I also want to recognize kitchen designer Jane Scammon. We told her what we wanted, and she immediately drew up an inspired design proposal for us. We bought tiles and cabinets based on her design, and we love the new look. Thank you, Jane!

We spent 20k in design costs with them but never moved forward with the project, as the final construction proposal was 100k more than the budget we provided when we hired them (300k vs 400k+). Not only were the costs higher, but the scope only covered about 75% of what was in the original proposal. They seriously managed to propose a project for $400k that would have left KNOB AND TUBE WIRING IN MY CHILDREN'S BEDROOMS! On top of that the owner was extremely unpleasant to work with and was consistently belligerent and wasted our time. She wouldn't even give us the architectural drawings we had paid for when we wouldn't sign the construction agreement. I have waited all this time to post this review because I wanted to have a fair comparison against a different contractor. I'm happy to say we recently completed the project with a different company, and for under $500k we got completely new electric, HVAC, a new kitchen and two new bathrooms. And this was during and after the pandemic when prices were sky rocketing. If you have money to burn I'd highly recommend Charlie Allen, but otherwise if stay far away from them.
