Josef is a tailoring GENIUS. He did a fantastic job on my wedding dress- he paid such meticulous attention to detail. He was always willing to listen to my concerns/requests, which made me feel like I was in good hands. He also took care of altering my 2 bridesmaids' dresses in a mere 4 days' time. All of this work wasn't dirt cheap, but it didn't bankrupt me, either. As far as gown alterations go, I'd say he is definitely worth the money and the trip out to Lafayette. read more

He basically took the dress apart and reconstructed the whole thing- and he did an absolutely beautiful job. Referred to me through Next Door with high marks for alterations. If you want something made (as did I) beware. The skirt got made; but when I went in for final hemming and asked for payment, I was charged extra for underlining. I had provided underlining so seamstress was called (on the phone to Joseph) He stated that there was no lining in the bag. (Should have held on to the receipt and had seamstress sign off on the contents - live and learn). Picked up skirt a few days later, and mentioned the lining again - I wasn't happy having to pay for lining when I had provided it. I was told THIS TIME that the seamstress didn't think my lining was heavy enough (it was), and substituted another. I WAS NOT ASKED. I was given my leftover supplies in a different bag, some of the pattern without the envelope. They were good about accommodating me in a 2+ week period of time, but I am uncomfortable with stories that change and wouldn't give them more business. read more

Very nice family owned place with very decent prices and no attitude. Joseph worked with me to tailor my wedding dress exactly how I wanted it. I did a lot of searching around before I found him. Hovsep, (AKA Josef to many of the other reviewers) I have one word for him: AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! After having my beautiful Maggie Sottero Gown butchered by the so-called alteration person at the bridal shop I purchased my dress from, I FOUND Hovsep!!! After 7 or more alterations appointments with he bridal shop, they kept assuring me the seamstress was experienced. NOT EVEN A LITTLE BIT!!!! I was desperate. I tried not to panic. It was in God's hands and I knew God would come through for me. He led me to Hovsep. It was ONE DAY before the wedding. I began Yelping, asking friends & family, when I came across the yelp reviews. I spoke to Hovsep and he was a true "EXPERT" tailor! YAHOOOOO!!! I interviewed him, because at this point I could not afford to make another poor choice in alterations one day before the wedding!! He was warm, gracious, calming, and said he had over 25 years experience and that he would do everything in his power to help me and did NOT hesitate to say "How soon can you get the dress to me so that I can take a look at." I said "I'll be there within the hour." He was not only the sweetest man ever, he was very professional, honest, and caring. In fact the whole staff was very gracious and caring. They really care about you, and it shows. That was best part of working with them. Everyone got involved and put down what they were doing to help him get started immediately. What I noticed is that earlier, Hovsep called another customer who's gown he was working on, and asked her permission to take a day to help me in my desperation. He explained my situation to her and how the other place butchered my gown, etc. He is not only the best tailor, he is also very thoughtful of other people/customers. She said of course! Thank you! to whoever you are !!!! He gave me the thumbs up, and got going immediately. He had me return in a few hours for a final fitting and had me leave the dress to re-do all of the mistakes and butchering in other areas that he noticed. My dress fit more beautiful than I imagined. It looked like it was supposed to look--BEAUTIFUL!!! It was the first time I saw what the dress was meant to be. I could not stop crying. His work was IMPECCABLE!!! I was referred to Joseph after going to a Concord Bridal store to pick up my daughters dress. The dress arrived late and according to Joseph was at least 2 sizes to big. The bridal store seamstress just wanted to pull up the dress straps and hem to adjust the over sized dress. What she was proposing was clearly terrible and would ruin the look of the dress without correcting the huge bust line (over 4' were taken in by Joseph) and without bringing in the over sized waist and hips (over 2 1/2' inches needed to be taken in down the back of the dress). Recognizing that this bridal store was not competent to make the alterations, we took the dress to Joseph. The dress was enormous on my small daughter despite the fact that the dress manufacturers sizing would have it fit perfectly at the bust and be a bit small at the hips. Joseph saw us within a day, and within10 minutes we were reassured the dress would be perfect despite the need to remake it by opening almost every seam, removing every button and even the zipper. At our first fitting, the dress fit like a glove and Joseph was still working out the details such as the over sized keyhole top connection that would naturally follow the other dress alterations. Joseph turned what could have been a bridal disaster into the gorgeous gown my daughter ordered and expected. I have nothing to say but Thank You for calming my daughter and remaking her gown so that she could be the bride she envisioned when she chose her dress. read more
