It's a rather cute little place, with many offerings to entice a visitor to buy something to take back home as a souvenir of their visit to the area. They have a quite decent selection of non-fiction books: on mostly BC-related topics, and always a selection of the latest covering Sasquatch ("Bigfoot") and related topics -- clothing: a very good selection of high-quality, printed t-shirts and sweatshirts, in sizes ranging from baby to adult, designs and colours, from 'fun' to quite beautiful -- and other gifts and souvenirs: keepsakes, tourist, and other 'stuff & such'. This past week's trip and stay to Harrison Hot Springs saw us come back home with another fine t-shirt (to join others, and books purchased there on past trips). Reluctantly bought a new machine. Friend recommended her Bernina repair guy. Nothing wrong with the electronics. It needs a thorough cleaning and I could upgrade two parts that Bernina had improved since it was made. I was lied to and I consider this to be fraudulent misrepresentation. Took the new machine back and got a full refund. Don't believe what their "certified" repair person says. Get a second opinion from a competent person.

My wife brought it back in there today asking for a refund or replacement. She got a frustrating response: "What are we supposed to do with it? We can't resell a defective product. It's used! " The employee checked with a peer and no way was the consensus. We were left thinking: Oh yeah right, we love coming all the way in to return defective products. It is sooooo fun...not! Jeeepers Creepers! My wife took it home and weighed the product and it was still 95% of weight on the tube. I have updated the review from a 1 star to a 3. We sent an email in via their web site to explain our experience. Within a day we got an email response and another came a couple of days later to appologize for the frustation. The email response was fantastic and they seem quite sincere about being appologetic for our experience. We would give the head office's response a 5 star. As an organization, Opus is great. They are sending us a replacement tube in the mail. Doesn't cover the time and fuel for the round trip (10+ km) but this isn't going to break the bank for us. The 3 star is for the original experience. Not fun having to spend all this time to get a new tube of paint replaced. We will likely try to frequent a different Opus location whenever possible.

I found a new addition to the shop since I was there last -- Tejo handcrafted stone decor. With a couple of shelves devoted to displaying a limited selection of their soapstone crafts. Very cool stuff. I looked and admired. Left the shop with two, crochet-crafted tulips, and a ceramic mug. One of the flowers will look just right in a vase purchased at the shop next door. Not sure, at this time, whether I will use the mug for hot beverages, or as a vase, for a grouping of flowers. Time will tell -- at present, just pondering and admiring. I am glad to have devoted this time to returning to Churi. It is a fine shop, with such lovely displays of rather unique crafts and related products. And my purchase will provide memories to "keep in touch".
