The shop is an outlet of the main shop, 'The Happy Prospector', located in Agassiz (just off the road coming into Harrison). I suspect it was the wood carvings resembling Halloween pumpkins, neatly arranged outside, that first caught our attention and beckoned us in. But once inside, we were treated to the sights of all sorts of arts, crafts, and "such" (wood, rock, and mineral offerings, art prints and paintings, and other handcrafts), and so enjoyed the friendly help and assistance of a personable 'host', who really made our visit to the shop so worthwhile. We stopped at the main shop on the way home, but were too early, and it had not opened as yet. Will save it for our next trip to the area. In the meantime, we're happy to have found the shop in Harrison, and sure enjoyed checking it out.

During our most recent stay (of a few days/nights, late-May/14), dropping into Island Gifts was a much-enjoyed stop during my early-morning walkabouts. Unlike most shops in Harrison, it opens at 9:30am ... perfect for me, as I'm 'up, out, and about' rather early (and especially so for Harrison!!), and could conclude my various 'within' the village walkabouts with a stop there. It is geared to the tourists in town looking to catch something to take home to remember their stay, or small gifts to remember family or friends. There's a wide selection of offerings at all price points -- from very inexpensive, to not so, and a whole range in-between. And that includes a great selection of art cards by local, BC artist Sue Coleman. It's a fun place to drop in, take a look around, share some stories during your browsing, and whether you leave with a purchase or not, you can take home some fond memories of your stay in Harrison. Well, that's how this fine little shop works for me!!

For us, it was 'refreshing' to see a new replacement to the store we had known to occupy this particular location during past several trips, so we were both anxious and curious to stop in and check it out. The store was clean and tidy, the offerings very neatly set up and arranged. Once in, and walking about the shop, it soon became apparent, that what was being sold were quality, gifts and souvenirs. Some of the clothing offerings (name jackets, sweaters, and such), sure caught my attention. The service provided at the time was friendly and very helpful. Yeah! .. a fine addition to Harrison, and to this small, centrally-located Plaza of shops. Hopefully, we'll get back to Harrison before winter sets in, and be able to check out those jackets, and other offerings once again, when the outside temperature is more tempting to the cause!

Me and my boyfriend went to this place as a cute date. They said they would email us when the art…read morewas ready, yet we NEVER EVER got an email. They said they would hold our items for three months and if not collected, they would throw them out. After not recieving any type of email for two months, my boyfriend drove all the way from abbotsford to this shop to pick up the art that we had created as he wanted to surpise me with it. Once he went into the shop, he dicovered that our art was not there anymore, they had lost it or thrown it out. This is so sad as they were a pretty expensive price as well i would say so. I am so dissapointed as this was something very special for us and it has been completely ruined. So i would reccomend you go to a more professional place where they dont throw away your things and actually email you when your art is ready. I would give this a 0 star review if i could.

We happened upon this one-day event while camping nearby. It was a warm and sunny Saturday so the…read moreperfect day for a festival. Confession: this was my first Bigfoot Festival and, as a closet fan of everything sasquatch, I was sorta excited about it! It turns out the festival was a fundraiser for some improvements to a nearby park, more than an informational or even entertainment-oriented gathering about that mysterious, tall, hairy beast that is said to roam the nearby forests. There were a ton of really cute art booths, many featuring bigfoot-related items, as well as a coloring contest for the kids and a musical stage (although we were there for an hour and never heard a note of live music). There were a few food booths, but the lines were long so we didn't partake. We kept wandering around hoping we'd find a beer garden to help us cool off but, sadly, there wasn't a beer in sight. This might have been the first year for the festival, so maybe they'll make some improvements to make it more fun the next time around. I love a good art fair, but having more squatch-related info/entertainment, some music, and music would have made it worth returning another time.

During our visit, we were told they had closed their former location, and re-located to this more central area of the downtown a short while ago. A new, first time visit for us. The storefront gallery space, though very small in size, presented/offered a quite wide & fine selection of hand crafted arts & crafts -- with everything very nicely arranged and displayed. What especially caught our eyes -- the various hats (especially one we thought Mom would love, but we needed her head to size!!), and sweaters (wool, knitted - different styles, and all so great looking!). We need another look!! And hopefully, that will come with another visit to Hope in the not too distant future!!
