My tradition of Sushi Friday lives on thanks to Crazy Stone! I loved sushi when I lived in a landlocked state, so I've been rightly blown away with the quality and flavor of the sushi out here on the coast! While I've never gotten their dinner, or even eaten there, I've gotten their Maki lunch special multiple times, which comes with 2 ($9) or 3 ($11) rolls and a salad with ginger sauce dressing. For that price, I've gotten rice and shumai at other places, but the quality here far outmatches other lunch specials. Lovely addition to the Sudbury/Marlborough dining scene. Went with the family for dinner; we ordered the stone cooked steak, stone cooked shrimp and scallops, chicken teriyaki, gyoza and seaweed salad. The stones are essentially mini-hibachis -- and they are VERY hot! Probably not something to order if you are with little kids. But it means you get your steak or shrimp and scallops (or whatever you order) cooked fresh the way you want. The stone cooked meals come with fried rice, vegetables, soup and salad; everything was fresh and delicious. The chicken teriyaki came with soup and salad and was also excellent. In fact, everything was great. The decor of the restaurant is lovely and quite relaxing, despite the somewhat odd choice of music. (I like Bruno Mars but he seemed out of place...) We didn't order any sushi, but will do so the next time we visit -- because there will definitely be a next time. read more

This is the best sushi place in town. The inside is adorable and it has a nice view of the water in the back. Everyone that works here is so nice and the quality of food is great! Pros: The view of the pond behind the restaurant is wonderful. The food was exactly how every Asian/ sushi place should be: tasty and presented nicely. And finally the most important part of this restaurant, is the wait staff. They are very kind, quick and helpful. Cons: If you are trying to eat a lot of sushi/ Asian food, this might not be the place to do so (unless you want to spent a bunch of money). And the only other thing that bothered me was the seating. Love this place. The food is fantastic. The people are delightful. We have long lamented the lack of good hibachi in Massachusetts, and Crazy Stone is great hibachi (although not like the standard Benihana clone) - but it also offers amazing sushi and has a great sake selection. Crazy Stone has one of the best artistic team oof chefs that it always exceeding our expectations. We placed a take out order for 8 people on a very busy Saturday evening, even though it was a long wait, it was so worth it. All the packaging involved and the amount of preparation for a large order was so seamless that it was too perfect. Everything came out exactly the way it was ordered. I've never written one of these reviews, but this place is new and delicious so I have to hype them up! This is the best sushi I have found in the metro west area. I've been looking for a place with great maki and creative specialty rolls for a reasonable price and I've finally found it. I don't know how it's not packed every time I go! The wait staff is wicked nice and the wait time has been better than average. My favorite is the New York roll - SO YUMMY!!! I've been to all other sushi places in Framingham, Natick, Wayland and Sudbury but could never find sushi I couldn't get enough of. I'm a big fan of some great sushi places in Boston, but I'm so happy this is local! This is my new go-to and I'm turning all my friends on to it! Highly suggest giving it a try. read more

Ordered various sushi (priced and served 2 pieces per order): very fresh, nice sized potions, beautifully presented and reasonably priced. Sweet shrimp was served with the heads which is my favorite! Just ordered at Crazy Stone for the first time. There's another Japanese restaurant in Marlborough but I decided to give Crazy Stone a try. I ordered for pickup and the woman over the phone was very nice and friendly but good things ended there. I opened the bag at home and the side I ordered wasn't there. The raw portions only contain 6 units (very high price for only six) and finally, I had to stop by at a gas station to buy something to drink because they only offer soda (from the fountain) to people who are eating there. Next to Stephen Anthony's, I was completely surprised when I entered this restaurant. It's bigger than I thought given the modest frontage with a well done lighted interior and Japanese decor. It even has a view of the lake. The menu offers something for everyone with sushi, tempura, teriyaki, and a few Chinese dishes. Excellent food. I had a great first visit to Crazy Stone. I'm a vegetarian so my priorities are a little different than the average person going out for sushi. The menu is very vegetarian conscious. The vegetarian menu items are plentiful and they are clearly labeled. Everything we ordered was delicious. The futomaki roll, inari sushi, sweet potato roll and veggie tempura rolls were the highlights. The service was great (even though there were only two waitresses working on a busy Saturday night), and the decor is pleasing and comfortable. Here from California and decided to look for a sushi type restaurant for dinner tonight. Found Crazy Stone right next to the Wayside Country Store and had a wonderful time. We were greeted and seated right away. Menu carries a variety of delicious options. Everything we ordered was fresh, delicious and served quickly. The news of a new Sushi place near Sudbury, MA spread last Fall. I think many will see this restaurant as a new hope or breath of fresh air from the sad, depressing hole that is Fugakyu Cafe... (another review for another time). My girlfriend took us to this restaurant for Thursday lunch. The location is by the water on Hager Pond, parking is easy, and it's a cute plaza with great views- both inside and outside the restaurant. My initial impression was a bit sketchy. The front door opens to a landing area which is finished but not inviting. Upon opening the second door into the actual restaurant itself, that all changed. Beautiful bright open concept with views of the pond, elegant bar, tables, with thematic decorations scattered throughout. The centerpiece: a faux cherry blossom tree garden. Cute. What really drew me in were their daily specials. Daily mini sushi boats at reasonable prices. We ended up getting a tuna roll, cucumber avocado roll, and 2 stone plates- chicken and steak. All of the food was plated and presented BEAUTIFULLY with one exception. The meat served on the stone does not come pre cut. Instead the server comes with the meat on a hot sizzling stone and offers to cut it FOR you. It becomes uncomfortable for everyone to have the server lean over the table and completely interrupt or disconnect conversation of the guests while struggling to cut a large piece of steak or chicken while its cooking on a hot stone. If the server offers to cut it, why not have it cut BEFORE it comes out? This really pissed me off. The serving of the main entree stone dish felt unplanned and disorganized- truly living up to the name "Crazy Stone." Chef- please rethink this strategy. Otherwise, the flavor of the chicken was absolutely on point. Sushi simple, delicious, & on point. Veggies & Rice aromatic, robust flavors. The steak was under-seasoned and I ended up eating my girlfriend's chicken. Besides the stone dish issue the service was great- attentive, friendly and not overbearing. Am curious to see how they may handle rush hour. I will come again hopefully to see a few improvements- this place has a lot of potential! read more
