Crazy Good Eats (CGE) is an unassuming little restaurant that's doing big business in our suburban neighborhood. There are any number of great BBQ places in our area, but I'd put this one alongside any of them. We are regular customers of CGE, and we have eaten in as well as used the Drive Through. The food is ALWAYS great... their brisket is actually one of only two BBQ briskets in the KC metro that this Transplanted Texan will eat and enjoy. As is often the case with most BBQ restaurants, they serve the usual fare: pulled pork, ribs, burnt ends, brisket... but they have a few things on the menu that will make you sit up and take notice: My wife is a huge fan of their BBQueben... a creative take on the Reuben, and we're also lovers of their house made ham salad! It's RIDICULOUS! With so many choices for BBQ in the area, this one seems still to be a hidden gem for most people, but I would encourage you not to disregard an "underdog" like CGE. We had this catered at a church function and it was delicious. I'm not usually a brisket eater but it was so tender and the rub was very unique, I feel like maybe coffee in it??? I think a newer BBQ option on the South side of KC. Stopped and got takeout as we were short on time. My go to is a brisket sandwich and so I tried the Lone Star Power sandwich which was brisket, sausage and onion straws. It was a pretty big sandwich, so I ate the sausage off the top and then Half of the remaining brisket sandwich. And half for the next day. My wife ordered the pulled pork, which is her go to, and gave good remarks. We shared and order of fries. They had multiple sauce options. I was driving when most of the fries were consumed so I didn't get a good sampling of the sauces. I am excited to return and eat in person for the full experience. read more

I enjoyed the Carolina splendor sandwich with a side of burnt end baked beans ($8.78 before 10% Yelp discount). My order was ready just six minutes after I ordered at the counter. The sandwich had a generous portion of moist, and tasty, pulled pork with tasty cole slaw, while the baked beans were very good, with a few chunks of burnt ends. The service at the counter was friendly and cheerful, while the dining area was clean and colorful, with plenty of natural light, several TVs, and background noise coming from the TVs tuned to a sports channel. Amazing!!! We got ribs, brisket, bratwurst sausage, mac, red potato salad and a kids brisket sandwich. The meat was cooked perfect, not chewy or too fatty. Sides were delicious! I'm also impressed with the fact the kids meal was only $6.99 for a decent amount of brisket. I pay that much for dry kraft mac and cheese at other restaurants. Bruce and his staff did the food for our son's wedding at an offsite venue. We were so pleased. He arrived on time and was able to set up as was planned. The cold temperatures that day made it necessary to make some last minute changes, but it all worked out in spite of limited space. The food was delicious. The appetizers were out on time for the guests. For our dinner, the burnt ends, brisket and turkey were so tender and delicious and hot. Everyone at the wedding commented on how good the food was and asked where it came from. The sides were also wonderful. Aunt Bee's salad, the loaded bake potato casserole, and the cornbread were wonderful. The bride and groom enjoyed the cheesy corn. We would certainly recommend you try their food. I had such high expectations based on all the reviews and was so disappointed. Based on most of the food we ordered, I should only give this place 2 stars but the ribs and flavor of the sauce bumped it up to 3 stars. We ordered a rack of ribs and the 2 meat platter (pulled pork and brisket). I really liked the ribs because it was nice and juicy. The pulled pork was kinda bland and the brisket was too salty for me. I think I must have gotten extra rub on mine because I felt like I ate a spoonful of rub. I thought they both came with a side and cornbread but we only got it with the combo. For the sides we ordered baked beans, cheesy corn, potato casserole and fries. I really didn't care for any of the sides, which sucks for me because that is my favorite part of any meal! I also tried the pickle that came with the meat platter and it was one of the worst pickles I've tasted. Such a fail. I was really hoping we found a new BBQ spot closer to home.... read more

This was our go to place by our house, their meats are gluten free and most of their sides are as well. We never loved their sauces but the meat and ribs were pretty solid and consistent, actually have some of the better ribs in the area. Extremely flavorful and tender. Prices are reasonable and service is quick. If you call the owner in advance he can make his mad meatballs gluten free, unfortunately I haven't planned that out well. Parking is plentiful and they have a drive thru you can pick up your to go order from. Unfortunately their customer service has gone down the drain, we have reached out to them multiple times in multiple platforms with no response to resolve an issue ( been a month). My daughter got married last Saturday, and we invited all of our out-of-town guests over to our house the next day. I called up Crazy Good Eats to cater the after-wedding party, and did they ever come through! I talked to them on the phone about the party, and they helped me choose items for the party and told me how much I needed. They even delivered it to my house. Was the food any good? Too bad the meats didn't match up. I don't usually order turkey but I did tonight and I actually liked it. Moist and a mild smoke flavour. My daughter thought the pulled pork was marvelous. My son said he enjoyed the beans and burnt ends. My brisket tasted fine but I thought the texture was off. I was less thrilled with the beans but they were ok. My wife also liked the turkey. The prices are reasonable. The atmosphere and vibe is good. Great pickles. Red cream soda...Yes!! Our food order was taken properly and the food was ready in good time. I think the thing was the sauces. The hot really wasn't much different than the other two. The sweet needed more brown sugar, and the other was more Asian than KC BBQ. And all three sauces were really watery. None of us particularly cared for the sauces but agreed if you mixed the two regular ones it worked better with the meats. I had the creamy Cole slaw because I'm not a fan of vinegar ones. It was forgettable. The Mac and cheese and the cheesy corn seemed to have the same white sauce on them and it was nothing special either. The corn bread was respectable. The French fries were crisp and fine. In the end, if you're a local you'll find something here if you're in the mood to eat Q. But with so many other choices, I wouldn't drive across town to eat here again. read more

We visited for lunch on a slow Saturday afternoon; ordered a Carolina Pulled pork sandwich and a platter with brisket and sausage (brat) with burnt ends baked beans. Everyone was friendly. The brat was a good portion size. The brisket was about 4 1/2 decent slices. It tasted great and was very tender except the end piece. The beans were very spicy and a bit over sauced . There were bits of burnt ends, but they were drowned in the sticky sauce that was cloying. The pork sandwich was okay, but nothing special. Flavor was good and not overpowering. - Quality of cornbread. Cornbread should be flavorful and moist. Not dry. Their cornbread is good. Has a little sweetness and doesn't just fall apart, which is cool. - Price. Their meals are decently priced. Not expensive. They also have discounts. Found out that day they have a Garmin discount (for the local employees). Nothing wrong with savings! This also tells me they probably have other types of discounts, which is helpful. Also shows they acknowledge and try to help out the local population. (If you're not a Garmin employee, don't take advantage of the info on my post and abuse this privilege. Not cool and bad karma!) What's Not - No real veggies. Dudes, coleslaw has a lot of mayo. Potato salad has mayo. My friend ordered a side of corn, which is basically mashed potatoes with some corn in it.
