When we walked in, about 430pm on Wednesday, the place was mostly empty. The staff were sitting at the bar. One young lady, I imagine she was the hostess, made a displeased face when we walked in, sighed visibly and trotted over to greet us and seat us at a table. Terrible first impression, I have to say. Our server, Trey (hope I spelled it right) was nice, professional, knowledgeable and overall a pleasure. I guess he made the experience more bearable, but not by much. We ordered some appetizers (mozzarella stick, chips and queso, hush puppies and shrimp) that were good. The main dish, the crab fried rice, touted fresh crab in its description. I don't expect the crab to move in my plate to prove it is fresh, but whatever was put on top of the fried rice was not crab, by any definition I have encountered. It seem it was leftover scraped crab from the day's cleaning of the shells, combined with too much pepper. WAY TOO much. The fried rice wasn't any better, could not eat much of it. The onions that were cut with an axe were the proverbial onion on your fried rice. I believe that when restaurants have something to hide, they will over season the food, so the customer can't tell it was not fresh. Very disappointed. This place is not sure what it wants to be : seafood, Southern Louisiana, Korean, Japanese or Chinese. They should pick a theme and stick with it. It's expensive for the quality of the food. We stopped in on a Thursday for lunch-so looking forward to a great seafood experience. First of all, we should have checked the menu before going. We specifically came to a crab place to get crab cakes. But they do not serve crab cakes here. We ordered hush puppies for an appetizer and they were so overcooked. For entrees we ordered the seafood pasta, crab fried rice and a fried shrimp and chicken basket. The seafood pasta was okay. The octopus were whole and really chewy. The calamari was also very chewy. The fried rice was terrible. The crab they put on top was sooooo over seasoned you couldn't even taste the crab. The whole thing was very salty. The shrimp and chicken basket was okay. The chicken had no flavor at all. The one good thing they served was the cocktail sauce. On top of the food being subpar the service was extremely slow. Also, I noticed people(I'm assuming employees) were wearing regular street clothes waiting on people, serving, and going into the kitchen. No uniform whatsoever. At the end of the meal I visited the ladies room. Having a wheelchair bound person in my family I like to check out the bathroom to see if it is handicap accessible. This place does have a handicap stall but in order to get a wheelchair in the stall you would have to move a large trash can into the other stall to get the wheelchair by. While in town for business, my colleague insisted we dine at Crazy Crab. We started with the hushpuppy appetizer which was good but with the dipping sauce made them delicious. We both had the snow crab boil. When my friend's came out, it was clearly not a pound, but the manager was very polite and brought her another cluster. The crab was excellent! It wasn't overcooked so it was easy to eat and the garlic butter was to die for! This was definitely the best crab boil I've ever had and will be returning during my next trip to El Paso! read more

Crazy crazy crazy, if you are into the boil this place is butter and garlic bro. Special sauces plenty of seasonings and you can get them mild to hot. I was pleasantly surprised that they serve yucca tuber here with an outstanding sauce. The fried dishes were hot and crispy with a great yum yum sauce. You want to mix and match your seafood they got it, egg, sausage, clams, mussels, all finger liking good, they give you gloves but I like going nature boy. I love crab and wanted to check this place out. It was as I expected, overpriced and underwhelmed. Mostly empty for a Sunday, service was okay, we were seated quickly. The menu had an ok variety but I was expecting, hoping for options to eat crab without gloves and bib. The appetizer of soft shell crab that I got was half empty and tiny, with straps of iceberg lettuce on half the plate. The prices were outrageous of course but I expected that for this cuisine. I think it was $70 for a pound of one variety of crab, can't remember which. I got the lobster tail with tiny patatos and tiny sections of corn on the cob. No bread, no rice, no crackers. I opted for the butter garlic sauce and boy was it buttery. I tasted butter for the rest of the day. Aftet a $50 meal I left hungry and broke. My boyfriend and I got SUPER SICK after coming here for dinner and spending $200. I was on the toilet for the next two days with TERRIBLE stomach cramps. I felt super nauseous. I called the restaurant and talked to the manager to give him a heads up. I told him I had not eaten anything else the whole day (we got the seafood boil, and it's pretty high-calorie). When I had peeled open the crawfish, it was mushy and seemed like it had either been dead for a long time before they cooked it or it was just low quality crawfish in general. My partner only ate one crawfish because of how weird it looked, and he didn't get as sick as I did. I ate almost a pound of crawfish before I started feeling sick. The manager denied all responsibility and REFUSED to make up for me getting extremely sick. He said because I didn't have a doctor's note, they wouldn't do anything about it or give me my money back. I paid $200 to get the worst stomach pain and to basically sit on the toilet for the next TWO DAYS. DON'T COME HERE! Go to The Crab Station on the East side instead. MUCH better quality and MUCH better service. There is a reason The Crab Station is packed while Crazy Crab was super empty on a Friday night. The time was around 8:30pm when we were seated for a table. First I would love to say that the staff was very helping and wonderful all the way up to the manager. The seats there could be improved. They weren't comfortable at all. I looked around the restaurant and you can tell others were uncomfortable in their seat as well. The seats were very hard and nothing but metal. Some of them didn't allow much room to maneuver in them and hurt sitting long periods of time. If you decide to go... ask for a booth. Now for the food... The food was eghhhh and experience with the food we eghhhh eghhhh lol Me and my wife ordered wings, raw oysters, and two boil bags. The wings were pretty darn good breaded with mild sauce and ranch on the side. There's no complaints there or with the oysters said my wife. What we did have an issue with was the boil bags. We had to change our order multiple times because they were out of a lot of things such as the corn and I wanted a lobster tail but they were out of that too. Finally the manager voluntarily walked over and apologized for a lot of the stuff being not available. He stated that they were supposed to receive a truck that morning but they did not. (Sn: I wish we had known before we ordered so we could eat somewhere else) moving on... the crab legs tasted like pure water... not much seasoning at all just a bag of filled with butter. Next, the shrimp looked and tasted like cocktail shrimp that was heated up. I have been to many crab boil places and this is the absolute first I have seen shrimp already peeled in the bag. They were really small compared to other shrimp. I also went back to look at the yelp pictures of the shrimp and it definitely was not the same shrimp other customers had on their visit. I'm going to chalk it up to them not having a truck and going out to the grocery store and getting a few bags maybe. I will say that the manager did offer us out of the kindness of his heart some potstickers for them not having a lot of things on their menu. I think he noticed our frustration from a distance. This was my family's and myself first time at the crazy crab, and let me tell you bit definitely won't be the last. The service was exceptional our waitress was friendly outgoing and explained the entire menu and drink menu. My parents had Chamizal boil with Cajun seasoning and they added 1/2 pound of sausage to go with it. The snow crab comes out in big chunks. The crab, shrimp, sausage, corn, and potato is cooked perfectly and the flavors are well balanced and yummy. In other words the FOOD is FREAKING AMAZING!!! We also shared some sweet potato waffle fries which were amazing and have some batter the sweet and salty combination works! The chicken tenders are marinated with a bit of cayenne pepper and served with ranch and ketchup. The chicken tenders are a great option for the kids or people who are not a fan of seafood. I may have cracked the crab code on why it's called the Crazy Crab. Because if you think you actually gave me 1/2 lb of snow crab legs, then you are CRAZY! I must admit that they had pretty good options overall for their menu. I not only saw seafood options at market price as usual, but there was also garlic noodles, and fried rice, and all the other low country fixins like hush puppies and fun vegan choice like fried avocado. I was shook! I thought, wow! What an amazing establishment to have such great options! There were even lunch options that i was originally going to jump on since i was told each seafood option was cheaper by the pound. Buuuuuut thankfully my eager eyes were able to catch the seafood combo instead of ordering the two supposed cheaper lunch options. I had a hankering for both shrimp and snow crab legs so i was going to order 1/2 lb of both lunch options. But the seafood combo of 1/2 each was much cheaper in all actually! I pointed it out to my waitress and she said, oh yea that usually better.... Usually better?? Do the prices fluctuate? Like i coulda used this intel from the get go. Whatever. I order the combo with all the spices combined, medium spicy, and a side of sweet potato criss cut fries. Each combo comes with a corn on the cob and potato so it was perfect. I full heartedly expected to take home some leftover shrimp since i was expecting to be considerably full already from the 1/2 snow crab cuz i mean, 1/2 lb is quite a bit. Until i got my order that is. I was greeted by this considerably small amount of both the snow crab legs and shrimp. I even did a quick lil rough estimate of its weight in my hands and could easily tell the total was probably barely a lil more than half a pound. Disappointed but hungry, i went about it, fully expecting the sauce to be phenomenal.... It was phe-NOT-enal! It was just so so for a crab boil sauce, especially if thats the main staple of the place. It wasn't terrible by any means.. it just wasn't that good. The sweet potato fries tasted a lil over fried as well since somehow it lacked the taste of actual sweet potato. I care less for the rest of their menu; I have tried their appetizers and cocktails, and naaa.. I am good with a bottle of white wine and a boil. Had to try the new kids on the block at the Fountains. I've never had boils before so there's that but I really enjoyed their food. I ordered the crab legs lunch special which is half a pound and comes with corn and potatoes. My boyfriend got El Chuco which is half lbs crab and half shrimp, we added sausage for $4 more. The food tasted good the sauce we got (garlic butter- mild) was nicely done. They give you bibs and gloves and a bucket for your junk. The tables have paper for your mess and the cups are styrofoam. Our server was great. There was a language barrier but she was attentive, polite and super sweet. The place was empty at around 1pm. The decor is also very nautical. I think perhaps it is the kind of place that is better for very small parties. We were a very large party that made a reservation. Just couldn't handle it. Service is very suspect. Having worked in food service before I know very well that you bring out drinks, appetizers, and kids meals first. Not at all what happened here. Let me just start off that this place is hard to find. There is NO SIGN outside that even displays a name of the restaurant yet. I was informed by one of the employees named Kelly that this restaurant just opened up August 6th. I've been waiting to come here so I decided to bring my mom for dinner here on Friday evening of the 20th. Let me just start by saying.... This restaurant is NOT ready for crowds and does not seem like they have anything organized. First off, the bar is not open so don't expect to come here and watch any sports at their bar or even order an alcoholic beverage. Make sure to call first and check to see if their bar is even open. My mom and I were entertained just by watching all the chaos and disorganization within the restaurant. Families would sit down then walk out because of the complete neglect of service. For a restaurant to have been opened for 2 weeks now.... Everything should of been organized and prepared with the proper restaurant necessities for customers. I ordered an ice tea and at first they informed me they didn't have any sugar, but then came back and brought it in a dipping cup. (Pic posted LOL) I honestly think what made me stay was the simple fact that our waitress named Holly was very helpful and enthusiastic. She made sure her tables were serviced and did an excellent job. The food was good, but I wouldn't plan on getting snow crabs. They are very VERY tiny and for the price it was ridiculous. The shrimp and clams were delicious. I would recommend the Cajun spice. Additionally, we ordered raw oysters and they were pretty pricey, but tasted delicious and fresh. Back to the restaurant not having the proper necessities, be prepared to eat on paper plates and plastic utensils. They are very limited on crab leg utensils so if there's a lot of people they might not have any to spare during your visit. I'll probably come back again, but I'll give it a few months. Lol. This place is ridiculous. We came here to eat and grub on crab. 1. They don't have the correct tools to even open the crab. They said people stole them so they don't have them. 2. Garlic butter to dip your crab EXTRA 3. We ordered 5 lbs of little crabs for 35 dollars market price and one corn came in the bag. Usually it's one corn per lbs in every place I've ever been no extra. 4. They don't have mayo. 5. The bag is full of air and water. The crab is skinny and dry. It's just not worth 300.
