Any time we're in Kingston, we look forward to dinner at Crazy Bowlz. After 4-5 meals here, we've tried much of the Asian fusion side of the menu and have enjoyed everything. The Mexican food is good too, especially if you get creative and mix-n-match cuisines (think: bulgogi beef nachos with kimchi). In addition to tasty eats and the obvious benefits from a menu where you can choose either a burrito or pad thai, we have been especially impressed with their customer service. The two young women we've encountered behind the counter are endlessly helpful and pleasant, offering advice on their menu and generally good vibes. Thank you for your help! They have great customer service, the place is clean and the price is reasonable for the quantity and quality you get. Try their fried wontons. Not like any other, they're light, crisp and tasty. Go for a Lotus Bun with Duck. It's a toco style dish, the bun is pillowy soft and the duck is tender, and let's face it, you won't find that anywhere else in the Kingston area. I go there often and wonder, why is this place not packed with customers? Location, name branding? My fiance and I absolutely love this place! They have amazing choices; you could easily close your eyes and pick something off the menu and it would be delicious every time. All of their veggies are fresh, their meats and sauces are flavorful, and I can honestly say I've never had anything like what they serve before! Did I mention they have fresh brewed bubble tea? There was a period in time where my husband and I went to Crazy Bowlz every Sunday for about 6 months. Our absolute favorite place. We had to slow it down a bit but since then every time I am in Kingston I want to stop. I always get a curry bowl with shanghai noodles, fuck and a blend of the red and green curry - incredible. What some would call clean food so yes some parts are on the plain side but I love that as the menu is huge and allows for many additions. I arrived expecting the large menu and went with what I know. I did a bulgogi bowl with no sauce and added siracha(rather sambal, one idea). And the Duck Lotus Buns. As a lover of Peking Duck I was very satisfied with the t crude and flavor. The buns were delightfully light. The bowl was good and made me miss my wife's cooking! The Milk teas was good and boba was oAs many said I can see it being a weekly haunt as single dishes are good enough but with the large menu you couldn't get bored. To the NYC haters that are actually from Jersey... Relax. It's Kingston, you keep up with that wannabe food critic attitude and we will be left with McDonald's.... Hands Down - My favorite Hudson Valley Restaurant since 2014. I have my favorite bowl (Yellow Sauce, Shanghai Noodle, Bulgari Beef) and Drink (Red Bean with Mango Sinker) but I have tried dozens (and Dozens) of other food items and never disappointed. The Shrimp Tempura Tacos and Malay Curry Wonton Soup are 2 more items that I need every time as well! My children who will dissect any meal I make at home that even attempts to hide a vegetable in it but at Crazy Bowlz - they will gobble it all up. Magic. I, too, cannot understand some of the high ratings given for this place. My guess is that most folks here in upstate New York simply don't know what real Asian Fusion food - like the kind found in NYC - is all about. Also, since the offerings here are very different from all other fast-food options in the area, maybe that's where the appeal lies. We all found the food here to be just about average: The pork belly lotus buns were not too good. The three tiny slabs of pure fat with no meat to be found, doused with hoisin sauce and the just the faintest bit of cilantro atop 3 tough, steamed buns proved to be inedible. Another disappointment was the Mexican rice bowl with that bulgogi beef. It sounded great on the menu, but was truly lacking in flavor once on the table. I found their bubble tea, at $4 a pop for a medium-sized cup, to be a bit of a ripoff too, considering most of the flavors are made from artificially flavored and colored powders. Aside from the somewhat underwhelming food, the restaurant itself was clean and roomy. They offered an assortment of condiments, plus free hot tea. I can't say it was a bad dining experience, but I just dont think we'll be giving it a second try. read more

We ordered the Kimchi nachos with beef, Kimchi quesadilla and a fried chicken with yellow curry stir fry, boba milk tea and a drink. Everything was delicious, except the sodas, tasted very off, as if they hadn't refilled the syrup packets in the machine. I'm not a fan of kimchi but my boyfriend is and he said it was really good. Speaking for myself, my curry bowl was delicious but be sure to heed their spice warning, I had the yellow curry and that's my limit lol. I really liked how they had biodegradable bowls. This is my absolute favorite place to eat ever!!!! It's so delicious. The Asian bowl is so good there's so many different things inside, and the Mexican bowl is like a chipotle burrito but in a bowl but like better. This place is really great it just sucks it's hidden cause no one can really see it which is a shame because it's amazing. The drinks there are so good, I get the strawberry popping boba with passion fruit it's amazing, like it's the perfect amount of sweet. I really suggest that one because it's just so good. Came here a couple weeks ago and for the most part the food was delicious, Cooked and seasoned well, etc. The only reason I'm putting 2 stars is because we told the woman at the counter that both my girlfriend and I were vegetarian and so we ordered one of the bowls with their teriyaki tofu. When we got home we were eating it and noticed that, yes, there was tofu on top of the bowl, however as we kept eating we noticed that under the top layer there was chicken in the bowl itself. We ended up throwing out most of the bowl. The teriyaki tofu lotus buns and the veggie potstickers were absolutely delicious. The food is out of this world, the idea and the name is hilariously fun, and the people who work here are excited and passionate. Not to mention you are supporting a truly unique and well-deserving small local business. Imagine: dipping chopsticks into a bowl of delicious, flavorful, spicy, and utterly satisfying food, surrounded by little appetizers, snacks, sides, a refreshing Tiger beer, fresh bubble tea, sake, or even a indulgent bottle of soju. Heaven on earth. Anyone who doesn't love this food is a broken shell of a person who can't taste or feel love. It's sad, really. My girlfriend and I came here after a weekend climbing in the Catskills, and will from now on forever always come here after hiking. I had the green curry shanghai noodle bowl, she had a curry rice bowl, and we shared some steamed bun "tacos" and a few sides. She had a strawberry (real strawberries!) bubble tea. We drove up to this place several times with intent to try it, but each time we lost our nerve and drove on by. With branding and signage this amateurish, can the place be any good? My grilled shrimp in a nicely spicy, yellow curry sauce over brown rice was a delight, as were the "cheese & steak" eggrolls. Brave the tacky signs and confusing menu and dive right in. The first time we went, I thought it was just "meh" and not particularly memorable, but they must have had a rare off night. I'm glad we gave it another shot because now I can't get enough of this place! The curry rice bowls are delicious, with fresh ingredients and extra protein for just two bucks more. My favorite is the hand-pulled duck and the lamb. You can request extra veggies and cilantro and all of that's free. They also provide self-serve hot tea gratis. Beware the green curry, though, as it was blisteringly hot. The decor is spacious but bare bones. The staff doesn't always bus the tables, and you might have to wipe one down before using it, but it looks clean overall. We love this place and it has only gotten better since it opened. The kimchi nachos special the other week was delicious, and had so much meat! The portions here are really generous. Very fun bubble tea options. I believe the same cashier has been working there since it opened, and she is super friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. So, the concept of Crazy Bowlz is simplicity: Pick the type of bowl, pick the type of starch, pck a protein, pick a sauce. I would guess that there are hundreds of different combinations. It's a good bowl (of soup, or stir fry, or rice, etc.) for the price. One warning, though, the parking lot (Walmart in Kingston) has a severe slope to it, and, occasionally, the grocery carts fly down the hill, accelerating with the unstoppable force of gravity, ending up wherever. If you are not lucky, it will hit your car, and put a deep dent in the fender. This happened to me. I will not be parking near there anymore... A short walk seems like a better idea than an insurance claim. read more

Found this place while shopping in kingston one day. It's tucked behind the walmart, a true hidden gem. My husband and I were so very impressed with the comfort, and cleanliness of the environment (the outside is not very appealing) and how friendly the workers are! I ordered the grilled chicken fusion noodles and my husband got the same but with shrimp. Both were equally delicious! If you're not from Kingston, the food alone is worth the drive! Choose your starch (noodle, rice), choose your protein (lamb, chicken, etc), and choose a "style" (spicy, asian, etc). Really a multitude of combinations to choose from. I ended up selecting a seasoned rice curry style with lamb. Scrumptious is the word best to describe it and fast service to boot. Too much food actually to eat at a single sitting. So if this place were closer, we'd probably be regulars. This place bills itself as an "Asian-Mexican Grill". However, it's really two restaurants: an Asian restaurant, and a Mexican restaurant. It's sort of a much tastier version of the Taco Bell/Long John Silvers combination restaurants: perfect for when different people in the party want radically different food choices. I'll admit, I haven't tried the Mexican part of the grill, because I like the hand pulled duck too much (it's basically Peking duck). The rice bowls and other Asian meals are also very good. crazy bowls was crazy good! we passed this place several times visiting the area and wondered what asian-mexican fusion food tasted like. this is a local family-run business and not part of the corporation. i ordered lotus buns with hand pulled duck and hoisin sauce. the buns were puffy and fresh and delicious and the filling just like what i craved for. my husband ordered yellow curry with shanghai flour noodles. although he was disappointed with lacking creaminess of the sauce (not much coconut milk), the taste was complex and balanced. we were so excited to try asian-mexican dish but subconsciously fell for purely asian dishes. we don't regret it though. we will have to stop by next time on the way to/from walmart! read more

This place is a hidden gem. I love the taste of their chicken pad Thai. It is just like from NYC. Great portion and awesome favors. They also make an acceptable bubble tea.
