6 Tenders & Onion Rings

Worst bar experience of my life. Bartender was so rude & slack. Ordered food & a drink. $35. Gave me the wrong receipt, so what I paid and what I read were 2 different things. Also, failed to add bbq sauce to my order. When I asked for it, told me it would be $1. Refused to give me bbq bc I asked for an itemized receipt 1st, since whatever you order has all these additional fees (found out AFTER I tipped that gratuity was already included [see, wrong receipt]). Said that I was being difficult and he "didn't want to serve me". BARBECUE SAUCE?? Really??? Just give me the sauce! It was your mistake. A world class A-hole. Food took an hour & was lackluster at best. Cold & unseasoned. The bbq sauce was truly required.

Chill spot on a Sunday. Good priced drinks. The DJ was turning up even tho it was a handful of us there lol. Located right across from the Sheraton made finding fun on a Sunday pretty easy

This bar is located directly across from our Sheraton hotel. We decided to stop in after the music festival. They were kinda empty at the time (after 1030p on a Saturday). Service was fast. Food and drink prices very reasonable.

I love the outside dance area and the drinks and food is really good. The drinks are strong and well worth the money. Nice retro, raver vibes and cool environment.

Gyro, extremely tasty.

This is an odd mix of clientele, but I liked it. At the bar was some rough and tumble locals then on one side you had an unattended (maybe the parents were in the other side) 12 year old co-Ed dance team. On the other were a few groups of adults just getting together for some late Saturday afternoon grub and conversation. Outside you had a wedding party plus guests between ceremony and reception at the Sheraton across the street. Decent beer selection at good prices. No ambers other than dos XX. But still, all draft/ bottled beer is $5 and cans are $4. Was served beer quickly. Service was up and down because big groups come in (dozen people size groups). So my food despite being a simple Gyro, was not fast. Servers were nice and helpful when they were near where I was sitting. My gyro was awesome and for unhealthy bar food it seemed everyone in the place was enjoying theirs. Overall this place is very Austin-ish. It has the dark, hipster almost looking dirty visual. Being across from a five star hotel is interesting and I totally will bring out of towners here for the cheaper food that tastes good combined with its ability to host large groups easily.

This is the worst bar I have ever been to. $20 cover for an empty club, $17 drinks when you do get in. Then I asked the bartender for a glass of water at the bar with one of my drinks. He told me $5, which is illegal. You cannot charge for water. He said sent it to the lawyers. Unbelievable. Do not come here.

Cristi and I stayed in an Air B&B across the block, needed something quick and easy for dinner. What is this, a dive bar with a great kitchen? Not sure, but the food was surprisingly good. And it sure looked like a dive bar to me. Service was just one dude (also the cook) but he got the job done. Steak fajita was awesome, Cristi's gyro was also really good. Stop by, the food is fantastic. One star deduction for no changing table in the bathrooms. Babies need love too.

We had an 8 pm reservation but ended up getting there early. We were seated 30 minutes early with no problem. The rain was coming, so we were offered indoor seating, which worked out perfectly for our group of 6. Service was on point and timely this evening, and truly a genuine friendliness. I just wish I could remember her name. There are some delicious choices on the menu--meat, seafood, & vegetarian. The drinks were all well done and tasty--from the Old Fashions to the lemons drop to the shot of vodka. Our food came in good time, and every dish was prepared just right. Can't wait to check out the domed dining in the winter weather.

The igloo decor was cute and "wintery" with cozy blankets, a basket of treats and goodies, and a heater. The package included free ice-skating and unlimited games in the rooftop. Our waiter was awesome and very attentive to our needs. However, the experience wasn't comfortable enough for the high price we paid. Even though we had one heater, the igloo was still a bit cold. Also, the heater's cord was short, so we couldn't move much and had to stay right next to it. Maybe adding a second heater and a hot chocolate station in the igloo, along with some music, would make the space feel much cozier and nicer.

This is the same building that houses popular Atlanta restaurant Empire State South on its ground floor. Ever seen the movie The Wolf of Wall Street (2013)? This place reminds me of the scene where Leonardo DiCaprio and Matthew McConaughey had lunch, high above the Manhattan skyline. Video: https://youtu.be/wM6exo00T5I. It's got an old-fashioned, formal, elegant setting; like a nice country club without the golf, tennis, and swimming pool. In other words, it's a city club and it's got some magnificent views of Midtown. There were several beautiful spaces to the club and I believe we had access to them all. The entrance had a coat check and was nicely decorated with wreaths and Christmas nutcrackers. There was a small study in front with an absolutely gorgeous Christmas tree. The main doors led to a bar area with lots of standing and seating room. The bar connected to various dining rooms/spaces (I counted five). Just about every room had terrific views of the city. There was also a covered patio with tables, seating, heat lamps, and illuminated snowflake decor for the holiday season. The patio is the best place to take in the views. Photo: https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/the-peachtree-club-atlanta?select=C8BsutGj3QGmsegeybIrjA. The patio is located on the north side of the building, so the main view faces north up Peachtree Street towards the PwC tower. One criticism I have about the patio is the coverage wasn't very good. Our party took place on a cold, wet Saturday night (6pm to 10pm) and drops of water were still falling onto us from above. Another small critique I have is there were only two heat lamps for the entire patio and one of them wasn't working (it may have run out of gas). A nice touch I liked was the basket of shawls placed by the patio door in case anyone needed a wrap for warmth. Catering was not provided by a third party, but by the club itself. There were four dinner stations set up inside. Two were manned. I liked how the stations were spread out to avoid crowding issues. I believe the guest list was about 120-130. The bar got pretty crowded during cocktail hour, but spacing was more comfortable once dinner was served. Seating was a bit tight at dinner. The tables were white tablecloth with candles and centerpieces. Here were the stations and menu items: Asian Station - Vegetable fried rice - Chicken sate (satay) with peanut dipping sauce - Thai vegetable noodle bowl - Pork pot stickers with dipping sauce - Fried wontons - Edamame with sea salt Rudolph Riviera (staffed by chef/server) - Crispy garlic bread - Penne pasta with chicken in a garlic cream sauce Under the Christmas Tree (staffed by chef/server) - Bacon-wrapped turkey tenderloin over butternut squash-scented risotto - Sage-crusted pork loin over celery-whipped potatoes - Cranberry chutney Dessert Station - Various cake and brownie bites, tarts, cream puffs, and more In general, I thought the food was OK. The pot stickers and penne pasta were my favorite items. The penne pasta was served out of a cheese wheel for presentation purposes. The noodles at the Asian Station looked more like a pasta dish than a Thai dish. Not really authentic. The noodles were prepared with a coconut sauce. The turkey and pork station was manned by a chef from Italian restaurant Campagnolo, which is located just a couple blocks east of the club. He works as a chef for both Campagnolo and The Peachtree Club. Admittedly, I do think the food I've had from local caterers like Affairs to Remember and Bold American Events has been better. There was an open bar with friendly bartenders. After dinner, there were no servers serving coffee nor was there a coffee station. Instead, coffee was served at the bar, which I thought was interesting (and uncommon, in my experience). In general, I thought all of the staff did a fantastic job, from the managers to the coat check lady. We brought in Cobalt Strings (https://www.yelp.com/biz/cobalt-strings-atlanta) to perform live holiday music. We had this same trio perform at our holiday party last year at the Atlanta History Center. They are that good. The Peachtree Club opened in 1989.

If you haven't had a chance to see the space since its transformation, please feel free to email me and I'd be happy to set up a free tour. lmoody@scad.edu. Truly the restoration of this historic landmark is a gift to our community. This Queen Anne Victorian house was built in 1883 by the Peters family--one of the founding families of our city. Know Peters street in Castleberry? Yep that's the same folks. They originally owned 400 acres from Briarcliff and Ponce all the way beyond where GA Tech now stands. In fact, the family donated the land that the campus was original built upon. They also donated the land for Morris Brown and the first baseball field for the Atlantans. The home is filled with beautiful detail. This is no cookie cutter McMansion. Every room is filled with unique features. The college will use the space for its Professional Writing program and will bring scholars, authors and journalists to speak and give workshops--many that will be open to the public. Visit the website often to see the free events coming up. In the Spring expect outdoor concerts in the lovely gardens. The home will be available for rentals for corporate meetings and the like.

The spot is huge with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, so you aren't cramped while trying to catch a vibe. The 1000 Masks cocktail was smooth and balanced, avoiding the sugar-trap I expected from the blueberry syrup. We started with the Yuca Parmesan Truffle Fries--solid crunch and the truffle wasn't aggressive--and the Togarashi Tempura Veggies, which were light and crispy. I went with the 5Church Lamb Burger Sliders for the main; the gorgonzola fondue and red onion marmalade combo was a heavy hitter, though the lemon-dressed arugula kept it grounded. The food was a solid, reliable choice--nothing that'll change your life, but definitely tasty enough to keep you satisfied while the music does its thing. You only get two of them, and they are served over a bed of mixed greens. They lacked seasoning and flavor. The artichoke dip was extremely oily and had a very strange texture--it was thick and spreadable. The pita bread tasted old and stale. asked for a fork and the waitress forgot. When she brought my fries, she realized that she never brought the fork, and still didn't bring it. I ordered yucca fries, but she brought regular fries. The mocktails were served in these foggy old cups. Even the customer next to me commented on her own cup and said it looked like someone had drank from it. They add 20% gratuity to ALL bills--I was by myself and it was still added. 5 Church is pretty good, but this place was not at all.
