This place use to be good but has gone down hill. Not as spicy or seasoned as it use to be. Last time I went I found a beetle cooked in with the crawfish. I let them know and they took the drinks and half off my dinner which is funny bc that's all I was able to eat before finding a giant beetle in my food. Bad management decision. Our search for crawfish, or rather saltfish, culminated here at Crawfish Palace. The place in and of itself was a cool local hangout. I give it one star for that. I guess there just isn't a good place to eat crawfish in the Shreveport area. The crawfish here was just atrocious, full of salty seasoning. I had high hopes, but again sorely disappointed. This one was a tough place to rate because there were so many peaks and troughs. I'm a Louisiana country boy so my palate for crawfish is strong and picky. The best crawfish boil I ever had was in New Orleans, but this place is a top 10 runner regarding taste. The problem I run into with most restaurants is their service; this place does not impress in that manner either. Quality First of all, regarding their crawfish, there is only one seasoning the restaurant uses for the mudbug which isn't necessarily a bad thing because it does taste good, however, it would be nice to have some variety. It wouldn't be a terrible notion to have at least "spicy" and "original" as options. I had the 3lb crawfish platter which came with 1 potato and 1 ear of corn. The food was well-seasoned but cold. It wasn't freezing cold, but cooler than I am used to eating. I arrived here around 4:30pm so the crowd hadn't gathered. I ordered a 2nd round somewhere close to 5:15 and the place was crowded. My 2nd platter was steaming hot! The quality of the food shouldn't be dictated by how crowded the restaurant becomes. This segues into my next point: Service. Service While the crawfish may have been a high 3 or low 4, the service was roughly a mid-high 2, at best. I saw my waitress 3 times in my 1 1/2 stint at the restaurant. Luckily, I was uninterested in another canned Coke product so condiments and drinks were superfluous, yet having them offered with some consistency and attention would have been nice. The waitress wasn't friendly but wasn't rude. She was just...there. The cool breeze from the being on the porch under the fans was the real reason my stay was so long. 2 platters, 2 cans sodas, and $50 later was an unimpressive meal. I hate to say it, but the food is decent, but not enough to make me "have" to go back for seconds. If the service was better, more homely with a kick of southern hospitality, I would be more inclined to rate higher. The restroom is outside, there are no fountain drinks, and worse NO SWEET TEA!!!! This is Louisiana people! Sweet tea and Cajuns go hand/hand! Ultimately, I was disappointed, but if you have the money and want the country atmosphere, you will enjoy yourself. read more

Though the service was good, I can only give the food 3 stars. We were greeted by a friendly young lady, seated by a nice older lady and our young waiter was very friendly and served us very well. On that the service, sure 4 1/2- 5 stars. The food though was a bit of a let down. Though we were told after we had eaten that we could have 'asked' for spicier crawfish, clearly we didn't know that. So we just the regular platter. They were ok, not bad, just ok. Same with the boiled shrimp. Ok but not memorable. We also thought the crawfish was a bit over priced. So we left a little let down and definitely not satisfied. We always gauge a place by whether or not we would return. Unfortunately, I don't think this one is worth a second visit. I hope you visit and have a better dinner than we did. Be sure to remember to ask for the extra spice if you want it that way because they don't tell you beforehand. read more

My favorite season is crawfish season! I love some crawfish. So it was only befitting that when home I got my fix. My friend and I hit the streets and pulled up on Crawfish Palace in Haughton on Hwy 80. We arrived at 3 pm and walked on in and took a seat. We thought it was strange that we sat there without any one asking us if we needed anything despite seeing two employees. Since we were the only patrons I asked my friend if he was sure they were actually open. The website states 3 pm but there was no one at the register and no crawfish in sight and the 2 guys off to the side who looked at us several times but never said anything. At 3:24 pm an employee walked in and was a little surprised to see us. We got to talking to her and she told us that they actually do not open until 3:30 pm and not all of the employees speak English but there was a couple present that do and she did not understand why they didn't come over. Nevertheless, she gave us some menus and took our drink menu. We ordered 2 of the 3 lb platters which comes with corn and potatoes for $16.99. They had to prepare some crawfish but that was no biggie because crawfish takes no time to cook. Shortly after we ordered, we received our bottled waters and 3 lbs. The first thing I noticed was the nice size of the crawfish and the heavy seasoning. The crawfish was seasoned to perfection and just the right temperature of burn your lips hot. Those crawfish did not stand a chance. They were filled with juice. I did not even need the extra seasoning that I requested. We added on a couple of extra pounds after finishing off the initial 3. We departed full and happy. Now the crawfish palace looks like a country style enclosed porch. The decor includes wooden tables and chairs and a Fleur de Lis and LSU banner. The ceiling has numerous fans to keep you from sweating from the combination of humidity and spice. The restaurant is spacious and can accommodate large groups of people. There is also outdoor seating. The establishment serves soft drinks, water, and draft beer. The bathroom is on the exterior before you walk inside the establishment. Inside the restaurant against the back wall, there is a sink to wash up before and after you eat. read more

Then we had to wait another 20 for them to take our food order needed up having to walk to the front to get someone to come serve us. I haven't been to many Louisiana seafood markets but this one is very cool. On the outside it looks like a screened porch but the inside is nice. I'd never had crawfish before but I will be coming back. My friend is a big crawfish fan and thought these were some of the best he's had. I like spicy food and these did not disappoint. While we waited for our 15 pounds we had some ice cold shiner. Frosty mugs! I moved from Pensacola so I'm a bit spoiled on shrimp. Don't expect anything fancy here. This is just a basic crawfish shack. However, let me tell you that they know how to do some crawfish. It is some of the best in the area. They also have nice cold beer to wash it down with. For all the visitors to Louisiana, crawfish is like every other crustacean, there is a season for it (Jan-end May). Thats all the Palace is open for. They don't do anything else but crawfish. I saw a post giving it one star because the Yelper tried coming over in July. Sorry. You missed the season. I ate there last night with my family and had amazing crawfish!!! They were very nice sized and way bigger than two of the other locations I've tried in Shreveport. They were cooked to perfection and there was no need to even peel any of the tail. Just pop the head and grab that little tab on the tail and pull. The tail always came out like its suppose to when it's cooked right. This is not a fine dinning place but for the best crawfish in the Shreveport area, this is the place to go. It is well worth the extra 10-15 minute drive for me. $21.00 for a 3 pound platter with potatoes and corn. No miss out on this place!!! read more

We were a party of 11, they sat us at a large long table, brought us our drinks and took our order. Then several minutes after taking our order the waitress came over to us and told us that they needed our table for a party of 22 people and they were puling two small tables together to re-seat us at. I was taken aback and asked if they were going to discount our meal for moving us. The Oriental Manager/owner came over to us and said we had to move. I asked her also if we were going to be compensated via a discount to move. She said no. We said we are not moving. The Manager/Owner was very rude and frankly had some nerve asking a patron to vacate for someone else. I had the Fried fish and will say it was not worth the amount they charge for the meal. The rest of the party had the 3 pound crawfish platters and each came with two potatoes and one corn cob. Not a good value for the amount charged. Where have you been all my life?! . We found this place on Yelp and decided to try it. We have traveled I-20 through Shreveport many times, and wanted to try something different. I noticed reviews mostly focused on their crawfish, but some mentioned the boiled shrimp, which is what we wanted. The place is very unassuming. But really a perfect fit for the menu. It has a large screened porch with many ceiling fans and several large TVs. Although it was June, we weren't hot at all. Every table is adorned with a large roll of paper towels. We ordered 2 lbs of boiled shrimp and asked for them extra spicy. I think they were $15.95/lb. Cooked to perfection, great house-made (no MSG) seasoning, and served warm. We asked for ice tea but were told all drinks were in cans or bottles so we got bottled water. The owner came out and spoke with us. He wanted us to try the crawfish and brought us each a freshly cooked one to sample. Goodness, it was the size of a small lobster. It really was good! They serve only boiled shrimp, crawfish, corn, potatoes, soft drinks....and I think beer. I liked that there was a sink and soap on the wall to wash your hands. I'm sure that is needed to avoid a line at the bathroom. We were told they are open only during crawfish season - November through June. We will most definitely be back! read more

Teeny tiny crawfish towards the end of the season, but Shane's, Kim's, and Crawfish Tyme still have decent-sized tails, so maybe it's a supplier issue. Half of my platter purged, half unpurged. For almost 6 bucks a pound, there's no excuse for that. On the night we came, they were out of everything but crawfish. Did I mention the filthy outhouse that's 103 degrees inside? Don't send your children there unattended; they may get run over. No soap, no paper towels, one can only hope that the employees found a sink behind the bar where they could wash their hands. Bossier Health Unit needs to pay them a visit soon. read more
