I periodically find myself in Pleasantville and have tried several restaurants in the main commercial hub. I'm consistently impressed, so when one of my cousins alerted me to the opening of Crawdaddy's I was instantly intrigued. Though I can take or leave Southern and Creole food, the great reviews were enough for me to want to check this place out - so my siblings, cousins, and I made plans to grab dinner here. Located on Wheeler Ave amongst several other businesses, Crawdaddy's welcomes you before you even enter by piping music outside. As we entered, we were greeted by the host who invited us to sit in the lounge while our table was being prepared. The lounge was off the entrance and had access to a window which peeked into the bar - it was small but effective for those waiting for a table and wanting a quick drink. The decor in the restaurant was well done - there was a good amount of flair on the wall but not so much that it was tacky or over the top. The tables were covered with brown paper and there were some random Mardi Gras beads placed there - this seemed a little sophomoric, but they're new so I can see this leveling up over time. We started with drinks; I had the lavender lemonade which had fresh flavor (I'm fighting for that Spring weather). The menu is broken up into apps and salads, po' boys, fry baskets, and roux and rice. We decided to start by splitting a few apps: dirty fries with beef debris, hush puppies, crawfish mac and cheese, and pimiento cheese. Everything was tasty - the standouts for me were the mac and cheese and the fries - the beef was optional and I definitely recommend going with it. The hush puppies were a little too bready for me (that might be my lack of eating them talking), but they came with a blueberry compound butter which was a nice touch. The pimiento cheese came with saltine crackers which was...a choice, but the cheese itself was good. For my main I went with the fried shrimp po' boy - this was quite massive and contained a lot of shrimp (not complaining). The bread was soft and it was paired with a creamy aioli and pickles - kinda messy but well worth the extra napkins. You could add fries for $4 (oof), but I opted not to which in retrospect was a good idea because the sandwich was filling enough. For dessert we went with beignets (shocking I know) in two varieties: classic powdered sugar and cinnamon sugar. Both were tasty - I mean it's fried dough so how bad can it be. The cinnamon ones came with a chocolate sauce which was a nice complement. Service was great - from the moment we walked in, we were warmly greeted and all of the staff we interacted with afterward were very friendly. Food also came out at a good pace which is always a plus. Overall, I had a great experience at Crawdaddy's. While I don't run to this type of cuisine, they are serving good food here. If I ever found myself here again I wouldn't complain. read more

Delectable food, great and very accomodating staff, good location in town and in a town that is just the right distance from all crazy stuff in NYC. Man listen! Run, don't walk, to Crawdaddy if you are craving authentic creole dishes with deeply complex and rich flavors. I went with a friend on a whim on a Thursday around 4pm. We were the only patrons and our server Omar told us it just opened recently. Omar was kind, patient and thorough! He made us feel right at home. We ended up ordering the chicken and sausage gumbo, grilled oysters, dirty fries with roast beef debris, beignets and bread pudding. .BABY, let me tell you! Everything was seasoned to perfection and came in hearty portions. No need to do the dishes because our plates went back to the kitchen CLEAN! Lol no but really it was that good! Literally I have no complaints! My only suggestion would be to bring back the Oyster Rockefeller (Omar told us they had them during the soft launch and we would've loved to try them) and possibly play some lively music. This new restaurant in Pleasantville is a must try! A little piece of New Orleans right here in Westchester. The ambiance was great! I loved the decorations and the art on the wall. The voodoo lounge and jazz music was a nice touch, but I wish the music they played was a little louder and had a more street jazz band vibe to it. The lounge could also use some high tops so people could have a drink or an appetizer. It's a cute space that seems underutilized.The staff were friendly and attentive which is always appreciated. Now let's get into the food because it was delicious and the portions were generous. The dirty fries were probably the best things I had here. 10/10 would recommend and I'm coming back just to eat them again. I loved the pimiento cheese, but I wish the cheese to cracker ratio had been better. An extra scoop of the cheese would've been perfect. I honestly did not care for the hush puppies. They were dry and the blueberry butter didn't add anything to the flavor. They would've been better with the Cajun remoulade. The jambalaya was phenomenal! I've never had it before so I have nothing to compare it to, but I thought it was super flavorful. The po boy was very filling. The acidity worked really well with pickles and mayonnaise together, and the shrimps were perfectly fried. The veg-head is a really great vegan option. It was a good mix of vegetables and it was very tasty. I wasn't super impressed with the beignets. They were warm and doughy, but I've had better. I also tried the lavender lemonade cocktail and it was light and refreshing. Overall, I think this restaurant was really good, and I can't wait to go back. I came in for their Soft Launch so it's hard to rate a place (especially on service) when they first open so I'll have to come back. Ambiance - beautiful! Love the decor and artwork on the walls. You can see all the little details and it's very appreciated. Love the music on the curbside too! New Orleans jazz which is great! "The Voodoo Lounge" could use more seats to complete the area. I would open up the bar so there are another two or three seats in this space. Food - the jambalaya was out of this world! The po-boy sandwiches should have their bread toasted a bit more. Also maybe a side of greens to balance it out. The hush puppies were definitely the worst things we tried. No flavor and you should have a soft butter spread instead of a hard one. Somebody who I ate with actually bit into the ball of butter thinking it was a hush puppy. Also, I would add some virgin speciality drinks like sweet tea or cafe du monde coffee. Excellent addition to the line up of exceptional restaurants in Pleasantville. The theming inside is very well done, there is the "voodoo lounge" where you can get a drink from the bar window which serves their voodoo lounge exclusive cocktails (the matcha do about voodoo and Mississippi river marg are both great and have unique flavors). The lounge is a great space when waiting for a table or just to hang out and enjoy a cocktail. In the main dining room there is various pieces of art, photographs, and other items from New Orleans adorning the walls. We've been three times and the food has been delicious every time. As we explore the menu trying different things on our visits, the common denominator is the fried catfish fry basket. I am a bit of a fried fish connoisseur, and I have never had fried fish this good anywhere in Westchester, and the homemade french fries pair great with it. The fish's breading is seasoned very well and the remoulade on the side compliments the spice. It has been consistently perfect on each of our visits. For entrees we have also tried the shrimp and grits, which comes with monster, shell on, perfectly tender shrimp in a spicy seafood sauce over grits; the roast beef debris po boy which was huge and loaded with tender shredded beef remoulade and lettuce on a tasty sub roll; and the Jambalaya which had great flavor with every component cooked perfectly, we would have liked a little more spice though. For appetizers the stand out so far has been the very creamy and decadent crawfish mac and cheese, with crawfish being a great stand-in for lobster you would usually expect. The Hush puppies with blueberry butter and the pimento cheese are also good but I wish there was a little more butter (they will bring more if you ask) and cheese to compliment the number of hush puppies and crackers provided respectfully. Looking forward to trying the dirty fries on a future visit. Service has always been very friendly and attentive. We have happily added Crawdaddy's to our rotation of restaurants that we go to and look forward to trying more of their great food! read more

We came to Crawdaddy's for brunch a week ago. It was SO GOOD. Well worth the drive or train to pleasantville. I personally came by public transit from Jersey City (path to the subway to the metro north), and I'd do it again. It transported me back to Nola. The brunch menu looked good but I wanted the seafood gumbo. It was loaded with seafood-muscles, shrimp, crawfish, clams. And it was so flavorful. Great portion size too. We split the skillet cornbread with blueberry butter. It's not the best cornbread I've ever had but we enjoyed it. My husband got the crawfish frittata off the brunch menu and loved it. I had a bite and it was good. Our friend got the chicken and waffles and he likewise loved it. We also enjoyed the bottomless mimosas. The service was decent. Food takes considerable amount of time to come out, small wait staff (one guy, 2 waiters the first time ate here) and possibly small kitchen staff. Po'boy sandwich was OUTSTANDING! Terrific newcomer to Pleasantville, and really great to have Cajun / Creole food in the upper Westchester area. Just had one meal there so far but we ordered three different entrées two of which were terrific and the third was good, but nothing amazing. I got the seafood gumbo, which was really delicious . Very generous portions too. We also ordered an appetizer which was delicious, but I'm having trouble remembering what we got. A disappointing evening of dining... We shared two starters: The Fried Oysters with cajun remoulade was fine and enjoyed. However the "Hush Puppies" corn fritters were beyond dry and could not be finished. The accompanying butter couldn't help this election. The main courses included a tastelessly average Chicken Gumbo and Blackened Catfish. The catfish - surrounded by a large of potatoes - was portioned small. Service was mixed. Our waiter was polite and attentive however there were other servers with little or nothing to do but associate and kid amongst themselves. I'm so happy there is a Creole restaurant right here in Westchester as I've always enjoyed the vibes of these types of places when I see them online and I really love the culture. The inside REALLY takes in on that as I really feel like I'm there as it's truly pays tribute to NOLA. The service was amazing as well. For a soft opening, food was good. Place had a good crowd. Ambiance was fine but not decorated in New Orleans style. But that will likely come soon. Crawfish Mac &Cheese was good. Had some heat. Not appropriate shrimp for this sandwich...cheaper type of shrimp and strange bad rubbery texture. $18 plus added fries (they were good) for $4. Wife had fried shrimp basket, again sad popcorn shrimp for $19 but it came with fries (??) and a very strange coleslaw - the cabbage looked and tasted old. Ordered two cocktails which were tasty but light on the alcohol. $32. Was looking forward to the p'o boy and Sazerac - sadly disappointed. Service was ok to indifferent. read more

This was our first dining experience at Crawdaddy's and it won't be our last. The food, the service and the atmosphere were all top notch. Our server Angela was delightful and very professional. My husband ordered the Jambalaya and I had the vegan Voodoo bowl. The shrimp in the Jambalaya were huge! My husband finished every last drop. The vegan voodoo bowl was well seasoned and very tasty. The portion was big enough to take some home. My husband got to have his favorite drink from New Orleans, a Sazerac and I had the Lavender Lemonade. My drink was delicious and refreshing. I will start from the beginning. Nola is one of my favorite cities. We've been several times. Hearing that there is a New Orleansesk restaurant in the area had me at hello. We must have caught them on an off night. We waited 15 minutes to be seated but quickly realized it was because there was just one young gentleman running the entire establishment. He was the host, bartender, seater, waiter and bus boy! He did an amazing job! Give that young man a raise and a promotion. He stayed calm and kind under immense pressure. Needless to say we had to wait for our main course. The starter came out within 20 minutes of being seated and the main , an additional 35-40 minutes later. The food was delicious. That was the save of this review. I will be back with other Nola lovers and hope that the staff shows up for my next visit. Finally got to try this fabulous new spot! Went with a big group (highly recommend this strategically so you can try more options!). Has a cool lounge area upon entering. Overall atmosphere of the main area was relatively casual, lively, and fun with NOLA inspired memorabilia and tunes! Highlights include the delightfully delicious cocktails (we hit up most of them and you really can't go wrong!), the dirty fries (go for the beef "debris" on top!!), grilled and fried oysters, and the perfectly balanced and oh so tasty baby spinach salad. For entrees, the steak frites were so damn good we ordered a second order! I'm also into veggie focused dishes and the veg head delivered on fun different textures and flavors. The shrimp and grits had a little heat to it and I will be going back just for that as well as the crawfish etouffe. Don't know what that is?! Neither did I but basically it's a perfect bite in every bite! We also had the seafood gumbo which was delicious as well and packed with big fat shrimp, crawfish, oysters and mussels. If you have the opportunity to plan ahead, I'd recommend making a reservation, especially on a Saturday night. We waited 45 minutes for a table but it was so worth the wait! The food is just amazing. I got the steak I asked for it medium rare. It came more rare, but that wasn't the problem. The problem was the amount of fat on it. There was so much fat. It was half the steak $36 for fat and it undercooked the rest. the food was oh OK. The fries were super salty but flavorful the grits were good, the cheese appetizers was very good but the saltines with it can't you get a little more expensive cracker that has some flavor the barbecued grits and shrimp were quite annoying to open the shrimp while you're trying to eat. Peel and eat shrimp on top of grits and gravy doesn't make sense. It was OK just OK. read more
