Used them to transport some heavy shelving back to a vendor for gym equipment. The shelves showed up damaged to the point the vendor would not be able to refund us the full amount and craters and freighters would not cover any reimbursement because the shelves were palletized instead of boxed. How the heavy metal shelves got that damaged is beyond me and the fact that we need extra protection to make sure they can deliver them without damaging is silly. The expectation in a shipping company is to get it there in one piece. I would not use them again and a little disappointed they refused to cover some of the cost we incurred because they delivered them with damage. We even provided photos of the shelves prior to shipping to show they were in good condition and they did not cover it. I will go elsewhere next time. read more

I had both fragile antiques (bench and small table with glass top) as well as some personal collectibles (fossils and stones) and was so impressed with the care they took not only to capture my information on my initial call, answer all my questions but their crew did a great job with the pickup and the actual crating was an engineering marvel. Not only did all my items arrive safely from Indpls to So California in a timely manner but the delivery group they contracted with (Estes Delivery) was top notch in communication and delivery. I purchased a Coke cooler, that was made into a chair. Craters and Freighters picked up the item from the auction house, wrapped it in foam, added rigid styrofoam on all sides, put it in a custom box that was mounted to a custom wood crate, and shipped the item over 2,000 miles to my house. I needed to move two pieces of heavy duty electro-mechanical medical equipment from Indiana to the Central Coast of California. I've been in practice a long time, and have designed and manufactured (and also subsequently shipped) equipment extensively in the past. I'm familiar with the ins and outs of shipping equipment. I found all my dealings with Craters and Freighters to be pleasant, professional, and efficient. The people who answer the phone actually have the capacity to deal effectively with the inevitable issues that arise. My transaction did get a bit complicated. An issue arose as to whether a certain malfunction with one of the units pre-existed or was possibly as a result of, and after shipping. I found them (Steve and Sandi) to be exceedingly rational and obviously honest. In the end, what the real basis of the problem was; turned out to be virtually indeterminable. In good faith, they reimbursed me for a specially engineered braided steel cable, I ordered two. They may have been within their legal rights to deny any payment, but the whole matter was so hard to analyze, I appreciated their willingness to reasonably meet me half way under the circumstances. I counted on your company to provide the service and information to me that would allow me to bring a refrigerator cross country. I do not do this every day and as professionals I counted on your guidance. I was not told it would be curbside all that was in the fine print. However, as a sales person you should have offered the delivery inside the house....this is what I thought I was getting for $1045 shipment from Indiana to California. That is why I told you I had stairs. It was not delivered on the date that was promised 9/1. Even the YFC was more apologetic then cratersandfreighters. I told cratersandfreighters of Indianapolis I paid a premium for arrival on 9/1 and their reply was that I did not pay for expedited service ...that cratersandfreighters (out of the goodness of their soul) paid the extra to expedite shipping -SO NO DISCOUNT OR REFUND FOR ME. The refrigerator arrived on 9/5 sitting on my driveway. On top of this now because of the delivery delay, the Labor Day appliance sales have put every installer in town on overload and no one is able to install for another week. Since 8/23 I have been working with cratersandfreighters with the one goal to have refrigerator delivered INSIDE my house. So now I have a refrigerator in the driveway.for an indefinite amount of time. I feel there was no customer service, nothing was explained. read more

HIGHEST POSSIBLE RECOMMENDATION for this amazing company. We live in PA, and purchased large, heavy, easily-damaged audiophile speakers, though ebay. Contacted C&F, on the recommendation of our most brilliant friend. They quickly replied with their quote. Then called "Jamie", and I could immediately sense, that this is a special and caring person. Later received communication from the equally-caring "Sandi", that the speakers were in their warehouse, and that they would inform us as to when the units would be shipped. Both Jamie & Sandi kept us informed, every step of the way. The truck delivered them a couple of days ago, and I have to say, I've never seen a more careful packaging job in my life. Even down to the neatly applied labels and stenciled "fragile" applications. This was packed, to the level of "ART". I should have photographed the work. It was that nice!!!
