I have an old Gravely riding mower that is 'of a certain age' where it needs some tinkering each season. Andy has been extremely communicative when doing the seasonal tune-up to help me direct my money towards repairs that are the highest yield and the most pressing so that I have a largely incident-free mowing season. But when the old machine does act up, Zoll's support goes way beyond the confines of the shop, too. Just today, Andy talked me through a belt problem by phone so that I didn't even need to take my machine to them. Last year, he also talked me through fuse replacement and other issues that I could do by myself (and I am no mechanic!!). I cannot recommend Zoll's enough. It's a small family place that does excellent work, so you may need to plan ahead and set your expectations that repair turnaround might be a few weeks, but the result and the support is absolutely worth it.

Despite this, I was told after 18 days of silence that parts were "unavailable." Specifically, I was told a blade and carburetor for a Yard Machine could not be sourced. As these are some of the most common OEM parts in the industry, this claim is factually incorrect and suggests a failure to even attempt the repair. ​Furthermore, I was told that I had been contacted previously, which is false. When I asked for clarification on these points, the staff was dismissive and rude. ​Most concerning is the safety oversight: upon getting the mower back, the spark plug fell out of the cylinder head while I was mowing. It was clearly removed for inspection and never reinstalled or tightened. Returning equipment in an unsafe, vibrating condition is a massive liability. ​I am not seeking a refund as no money was exchanged, but I wanted to ensure this experience was documented in your records. I will be sharing these facts with the local community to ensure others are aware of these safety and communication lapses.

I met the owner, Dave, who is just incredibly helpful and talking me through all the different components gave me a little test drive demonstration. Having done business with Aaron (Grants Pass Power Equipment Repair) in the past I gave his shop a try on an off chance he might have something or an idea how to fix it. I should have gone to Aaron first stop!!! He looked a couple part numbers up and said hold on a second. Shortly after he returned with a new exhaust that was almost an identical match. As he thought about what he should charge he sold it to me for $20!! As I tried to explain I had no problem paying more because I knew what it had to be worth, he said no $20 was fine. We typically rent from another company however we needed a larger reach forklift than we usually…read morerequire and our preferred company would have had to send one from another location at great expense. Bullet had a machine available that on the surface should have completed the job effortlessly. Before agreeing to rent we checked with the manufacturer, and they confirmed that it would exceed our requirements. The load chart and operating guide in the machine that was delivered by Bullet also indicated that the machine was more than suitable for our needs. It was quickly discovered that the range of motion of the boom was no where near what was shown on the load chart or specified by the manufacturer nor did the safety interlocks operate at the points specified by the manufacturer. Bullet did send out a mechanic whom within a few minutes stated that the machine was working properly and the load chart and specifications from the manufacturer are wrong. Due to having a crew on-site and a deadline to complete the job in, we had to make due with what Bullet provided. We requested a truss boom from Bullet to match the machine that was provided. What they delivered instead was something else that wasn't approved by the manufacturer and didn't come with a load chart or appropriate securement, requiring us at additional expense to consult with a third party to ensure all components were operated within their limits. It took multiple phone calls to get copies of invoices from Bullet for our internal record keeping purposes. We ran into cost overruns of many thousands of dollars resulting from improperly functioning equipment from Bullet Rentals however we did get the job done safely and on time. There are other good rental companies in the Medford area and I recommend avoiding Bullet like the plague. Horrible customer service and faulty equipment.
