Crate & Barrel is a great place to shop because of their quality products and reasonable pricing (excluding furniture). Every piece they have is quite unique and fits your everyday needs. All the designs are simple, sleek, and in neutral shades, and that's something I truly adore!!! The staff is not very welcoming sometimes..at least that's how I felt but they are usually friendly and polite. Tip - If you're looking to buy a coffee machine, they do offer coffee samples for some machines like Jura or Nespresso. The ground floor has kitchen pots and pans, appliances, cutlery, and dinnerware, while the upstairs floor is more focused on furniture shopping. I have visited this store numerous times and gotten gifts for a lot of friends as well - each one of my friends said that they are of good quality and are long lasting. Customer service was not satisfactory at all. They didn't care about helping much at all or even giving alternate solutions. The kitchen pieces and furniture are all wonderful looking but customer service was one of the worst. They gave me plates and bowls that I took home and checked the quality after, which half were defective with nicks and bad finish to where you can see the base material. Their policy was that once the sticker is taken off, they can't do anything about it. But instead of being sorry or offering an alternative solution, they just laughed it off and left. Trash. Other than that, the only reason I saved it at 2 stars was the curbside pick up. The gentlemen was really kind and helpful, much better than the rude manager of the store. I've shopped here before for wedding gifts and had no issue. I went in today to show my sisters about how nice the store was as one of them is getting a new apartment soon and this man with white long hair and big glasses accused us for walking around for 2 hours and not buying anything but 3 spoons. Rude staff and manager. We were told by corporate if we bring in our defective dishes they will return them. We do not have a crate and barrel in our state so we drove 3 hours to have a manager and staff member tell us they will not return them and offer little help. Susan stated all of their dishes will scratch from silverware so if we got different ones they will do the same thing. We told Susan we had proof corporate told us of the conversation with corporate via the online chat, but again she did nothing. We called corporate back about our encounter at the store and they said the store should have 100% accepted the return and was very helpful to us in the returning process. read more

The staff at Leawood Crate &Barrel were so wonderful when we exchanged a Christmas gift I bought in late October on Dec 26. Online it said the return window had closed, but the staff in store were so nice and helpful. They established that the item was defective and got us a replacement right away (all on a busy shopping day!). read more

(This review is not about this specific store location) My best piece of advice for wedding registry's.. DONT REGISTER WITH CRATE AND BARREL! I have had so many problems with them. It is the most frustrating thing ever especially in an already stressful time of wedding planning. Their website sucks to begin with and isn't user friendly. I registered for 12 dinner plates, normal right? I ended up receiving 40 PLATES. I thought I was going crazy opening so many. Their website allowed my friends and family to multiple items things over the limit that I set. This same thing happened with candle holders, appetizer plates and others after I was on the phone with customer service for hours at a time asking them and they assured me that it wouldn't happen again. read more

Crate & Barrel makes me want a new life. I want a Crate & Barrel life. HA. I love going to this store and it always makes me happy. There is no way you can be in bad mood in this store. Everything is sparkly and bright. The staff has arranged everything in a visually appealing way. The furniture arrangements make me want to live there! I love all the color coordination and careful attention to detail. What I love about the kitchen accessories department is they have items that I never knew existed before for use in the kitchen. Love, love this section. The furniture is so beautiful and well made. I could spend hours in this store, just looking and appreciating the furniture. They have rugs, drapes, wall coverings... you name it and it's here. I think the prices are reasonable for the quality. This is not cheaply made stuff. The products are well made and priced accordingly. These products are built to last, as well. I have always found staff to be super helpful and friendly. Service and attention have never been an issue for me here. They seem to genuinely care about customers and that is oh-so-rare. The store is spacious and beautiful. I come here often, but I never check in. There are times when it seems like staff may not want to assist me, but that does not happen often. On this last occasion, Jennifer assisted me with finding a carafe. We used the computer and then searched the store for the product. She was so very friendly and helpful. We recently bought a new home and have been working on furnishing it. Crate and Barrel has been hands down the best store to work with out of the five total we have been purchasing from. They have an amazing selection online that is great quality. They also have some hard to beat prices. We have made online purchases four times now and picked up at this location. The items have ranged from coasters to large area rugs and every time we are met with a smile and willingness to load everything into our car. The website is very user friendly and even gives you the ability to see products in your home by using your phone's camera on their website or app. Very helpful! read more

I came in looking for a specific type of floor lamp that I had in my mind's eye that C&B carried. As it turns out, they *did* carry it but it got discontinued 1 year ago. Not deterred, the man waiting on us went on a search rampage through variant models and nationwide stores. I left with two phone numbers of stores on the East Coast and SKU #s. Now that's service. I would host my remaining friends at a perfectly appointed table, mixing and matching their china patterns, and serving out of tasteful and functional platters. I want to live a C&B life, if only for a few days. The BF and I are getting hitched and decided to register here. The process was smooth as can be and so much fun. The salesfolks were quite helpful but in no ways overbearing and didn't pitch us really hard like some other chains that i've been warned of. Plus whenever anybody buys something from your registry, they automatically mark down who bought what, and where they live. This will make thank you cards a piece of cake! Furnature so sleek and awesome, I just want to straight up move into this store. The prices are a bit oppressive and extreme in some cases, however they aren't as bad as Nebraska Furnature's "top tier" furnature. Everything here has awesome lines and creative coloring. On the first floor, there's a huge variety of kitchen items. Walking into Crate & Barrel is like walking into the land of possibilities. All the dishes, glassware, kitchen gadgets, cookware, furniture...when I walk into this store, I start thinking of all the cool things I can do to my condo. Which is a problem since I'm not a wealthy princess who owns her own country. Clean store and unobtrusive staff. I hate browsing a store and having sales people come up to me every 2 minutes asking if they can help me find something. Just be there if I need to find you, ok? I manage to find something I desperately need (and didn't know it before I entered the store) every time I go here. That could be a bad thing, but the items I have purchased have endured and are all constant fixtures in my place. It's my go-to store for anything home related. The dishes and kitchen items are especially affordable. Parking is plentiful and it's surrounded by all the Leawood/SOJOCO shopping you could ever need so make a day of it! read more

BEST STAFF EVER FOR A FURNITURE/APPLIANCE STORE. Don't let the high prices detract you from an awesome store, the trade off of these high prices mean high quality purchases and AMAZING customer service. The cashier that was ringing me up for a Wedding registry present that I was purchasing went above and beyond to make sure that I had the best deal, best choice, and also showed me all that's available. I had needed for mason jars to be engraved and he went above and beyond his scope of practice of being a cashier and went online in their computer to find me a place that can do engravings while also showing me their array of mason jars that could be used. He also brought up special offers and made sure that the item that I was purchasing was eligible and rung up for the special offer so that I would get the most savings! I feel horrible for forgetting his name, but he was a tall younger fellow that was super friendly and nice! Clean and classy, this store is dangerously full of many, many ways to enter the poor house. Everything from place settings and cooking goodness to modern furniture and home decor. If you've ever wanted to imagine you were a sleek, clean-living loft-dweller, this is the place to shop. Their defaults seem to be clear glass with simple, elegant lines, or white and square. Either way is ok in my book and would look in, well, just about any household really. The floorplan is a bit cramped for my liking, and in a store full of fragile bits, that's not a good thing. A few too many moments of tight squeezes and timed approaches with on-coming customer traffic for my liking. That said, if I ever trip over large piles of disposable cash or I find myself living in an ultra-modern abode, I know exactly where I'm going first for all my furnishings. read more

I love the sales staff here everyone is very kind and will take time to show you around and if you are looking for something in particular they will do there best to get it to you. Ya know, after registering for my wedding here...this place just gets better and better. Compared to a terrible experience at the Bed Bath & Beyond in Olathe (which is likely a corporate thing and not related to the people at that location itself), Crate & Barrel is so incredibly wonderful when it comes to taking care of bridal registrants. And you get a little gift after you sign up! So, the process is simple - approach an associate, get a "gun", get a quick 5-10 (at most) minute walk around, and you're let loose. Zap away to your hearts content! At the end, return to a station, "download" your items, set up a website (very quick and easy), return your gun, get your gift, out the door. I highly recommend doing a registry here. For one, a lot of the stuff is the same price as other places (despite the thoughts of many people who don't ever come here), and the quality is great. AND the customer service is great. read more

Let's start with this, if you are getting married and don't register at Crate & Barrel, you are an idiot. No caveats, no nothing. Plain stupid. Crate & Barrel has pretty much everything you need for your house as long as you are willing to pay a decent amount for what you need. It isn't expensive, in the grand scheme of things (It's not Design Within Reach expensive) but it's not Ikea either. You will pay more but you will get a really good quality product for the price you pay. I've never gotten something from Crate & Barrel home and been disappointed with how quickly it broke or anything like that. They make stylish things, they make them well, and they sell them for a fair price. The store is bright and the staff is always friendly. Put it all together, you have a really, really good store. And by the way, keep an eye online at their clearance deals. Some really good deals to be found there. If you are furnishing a new home, looking for a wedding gift, tricking out your kitchen or dining room... Crate & Barrel should pretty much be your first stop. read more

Love, love, love, love. I stopped in looking for a coffee table with specific dimensions and the lady who helped me was a breath of fresh air. She knew where everything that would meet my requirements was and walked me through the store without being pushy, she continued to be helpful and friendly even after I let her know that I was only browsing for options since my husband is out of town. Mmmm... I love me some C&B. Registered for my wedding there. Most of my kitchen is furnished in C&B. Have been to at least a dozen different locations and this one is pretty darn great. Lots of parking - great location - clean interior - really great staff. C&B are laid out in nearly the same way everywhere, and this one is no exception. Turns out, this is the only Crate and Barrel within several states - so this location would be the place to go for great kitchenware, bedding, home accents, and gourmet food. Someone had told me they had the best catfish and cheesy potatoes around, so I was driving by one night and decided I had to check it out. This place is A LOT nicer than I thought it would be; extremely modern. I went in and found a table, but I just sat there for over 20 minutes without anyone taking my order. What terrible service! I don't know what I was expecting when I walked through the doors of Crate and Barrel, but this was a cool store. You always see paparazzi photos of celebs with their Crate and Barrel bags, so I was curious - just what kinds of crates and barrels are these people buying? So lo and behold, here I am, working in Leawood one day and I decide - tomorrow I'll be a celebrity and check it out. Much to her dismay, I drag Yelper Mom with me to see just what treasures lie with and am pleasantly surprised. Make no mistake, this store is full of sleek and modern furniture, but there are also shelves FILLED with all kinds of neat kitchen gadgets for prices that are on the higher side of decent. I loved the special seasonal items that were featured just inside the doors, and I don't think I've seen that many styles of drinking glasses in my life. The furniture upstairs was beautiful and modern (I may or may not have salivated over some of it) however, some of it seems a bit overpriced. Although, considering the location, I'm sure they don't have any problems with customers who can't afford it. My favorite section of the store was downstairs with the kitchen supplies and tableware, all of which seemed pretty reasonably priced for being top-of-the-line. End of story, I'll be spending some legitimate cash here in the future as I hadn't planned on shopping that day. Prepare thyself, Crate and Barrel. I'm dangerous with a credit card. read more

My mother-in-law bought a bedroom set, office desk & chair, bookshelves, day bed and tv cabinet for her 2nd bedroom from C & B. She also bought a liquor cabinet, 3 living room chairs and another larger tv cabinet plus a small glass topped dining set with 4 chairs and a small glass side table which matched the dining room set. In all her purchases were probably over $10,000 from C & B. As her son-in-law, I assembled most of the furniture when required but some pieces such as the dining room set and side table were delivered & set up by C & B. The quality and expectations of what she received seemed fine until mother-in-law passed away this summer and we moved her furniture to our home to see what we might want to keep for ourselves or get rid of. My wife had also always loved C & B and she especially liked several furniture pieces, the liquor cabinet, the glass topped dining room set, and the small glass side table. When we were moving the liquor cabinet, one end of cabinet was dropped 5 inches to the ground and it broke apart into several pieces. Seems the $500 liquor cabinet was most made of particle board like you find in most discount stores except I have never had a piece of furniture break apart like this did from supposedly high end furniture store. Next when we got home with the glass dining room set and the glass side table, we found out that the chairs were ebony color as ordered but the bases for the glass dining room set and glass side table were dark brown, not ebony as they should be. Now it has been awhile since these items were purchased and the color difference was not noticeable in my mother-in-law's apartment, it is noticeable in our more well lit home and we plan on keeping these pieces for many years as we have done in the past with furniture we have had handed down to us. We contacted C & B to inquire what could be done about these issues as these items were still available for sale in C & B online catalog. I called about the mismatched dining set and table a couple of times and was told a manager would call back and they never did. My wife called about the particle board liquor cabinet and was told, what do you expect for $500 this is low end furniture, perhaps you should have bought a more expensive liquor cabinet made of better building materials. The lesson learned is when shopping at C & B ask what the piece of furniture is made of. Is it particle board or a much stronger building material? What kind of warranty does this furniture have? And if the furniture is the wrong color and does not match will C & B make it right? After all isn't that what you paid for at a high quality store like Crate & Barrel? I know my mother-in-law would be disappointed if she had known this when she was living. read more
