Oh my, where to begin? I have been going to this nice consignment store for years and loved the selection of nice used furniture pieces and decor items. I have consigned dozens of items (and probably bought as many pieces) and always appreciated the friendly and helpful staff. I have introduced several friends to the store who have consigned furniture. Recently, we have noticed that a young woman who accepts items falls short in the customer service area. She has an air of self importance, and as my friend said recently, acts as if she is too busy saving the world to stop and help us mere mortals. Like any business, Couches to Curios would not exist without customers but this person doesn't seem to understand that. Disappointed after delivery. Delivery service was great. But lighting in store is flattering. Upholstered pieces were not vacuumed or cleaned prior to showroom. Miscommunication between sales & cashier about pricing. Just pay very close attention to detail & take your time. I just love it when I have time to stroll through this store. Everyone is so friendly and seem to enjoy their jobs and the items are fun to look at if only a walk down memory lane. The seasonal items are particularly fun to see. The selection of items are good but sometimes very similar to one another (I guess one doesn't know what one will sell out of). Sometimes the items are priced a bit on the high side for a resale imho, however, I assume they are vetted. I'm glad this store is here and doing well! read more

I stopped in to kill some time while waiting on the rest of the bunch to show up for dinner at an adjacent restaurant. I can't remember what used to be in this spot but I'm glad I stumbled on it. There are some foos funds in here. I highly recommend you to stop in and take a peak. This home consignment shop is filled with a lot of goodies. The merchandise is in excellent condition. I stopped at this consignment shop on my home today. I've been looking for a little glamour and found it right away. The mirrored end table was in near perfect condition and the lamp was pristine. They were exactly what I've envisioned and they were 30% off. The staff couldn't be any more cordial and helped me get the table in to my small car. Everything worked out beautifully. There's no reason to pay retail with a shop like this in the neighborhood. read more

Hard to believe how this place keeps the doors open with a racist and hateful owner. I was helping a colleague drop off a dining room table during a snow storm at Couches to Curious when the horrible experience began. We were greeted by a man and woman who were very nice and showed us where to place the table and chairs. Then a woman when a condescending tone approached us asking, "Don't you think it would be a good idea to have tarps? Do you have tarps?" I replied "no", and thought she was joking for a moment. I replied, "Do you think we should have a tarp?" She answered, "Yes, we don't want damaged goods." This is the moment my blood pressure started to rise as she had a very passive aggressive tone and was being extremely rude. We explained to her we were helping out a friend who lives 3 minutes away and she asked if we were movers. After telling her again we were friends of the owner of the table she started to change her tune. Did she think I was a mover because I'm Hispanic? The owner is a hateful person and I hope you don't shop at her store. If she treats "customers" like this, how does she treat her employees? Blows my mind this store is in business. read more

This is a consignment shop as well as second hand furniture store.... Thankfully it's here bc as I see it, people place too much emphasis on NEW overly priced retail items. Depending on what gets turned in, availability will vary. I've run across a few items that I thought were worthwhile. I'd recommend it if you are looking for decently priced furniture. My husband and I look for inexpensive, higher end merchandise and CTC fits our needs. When there's time to kill, we sometimes head to CTC to browse the sales floor. We've picked up several pieces over time, including tables, chairs, original paintings, artwork and miscellaneous decor. Everything is tastefully presented and I really appreciate that items are monitored by date and unsold items are rotated or moved out to make room for more, allowing customers to move with ease down aisles and visualize individual pieces. We've frequented CTC for over two years now and have always enjoyed the staff ... always helpful and accommodating. I will continue to spread the good word about CTC to all my friends! read more

I've been in here a couple of times. Once just to browse, the other because I was looking for, and found, a bedside lamp. This place is packed with a variety of things and is tastefully arranged. It's large enough that there is a good selection, but not so big that it is overwhelming. I would say most of the store is living/family room items, but they also have dressers, kitchen tables and hutches. If you are the type of person that likes to buy used for ecological reasons, this is a perfect place to start shopping. read more

I LOVE this store as both a consignor and a buyer. Over the past few years, I have taken in several items which all sold. Before finding them, I would normally just have given the items away. Now, I can actually get some value from them. On the buying side, they have some great deals and allow me to get slightly used, high quality furnishings that I could never afford new. Unlike some similar consignment stores, they seem to only take in higher quality items. The owner is AWESOME. Always makes you feel welcome and they always greet you as you enter the store. As there are fewer antique malls in town, I hope those guys make it work. Still have some good dealers and has not succumbed to the flea market vibe yet. As far as consignment stores go in Kansas City, this is the very best! The staff is extremely friendly and helpful and the store is beautifully arranged. The quality of furniture and decor in the store is way above average and the prices are quite reasonable. I love Couches To Curios and have been shopping there for a few years and also put items on consignment. I tried out three furniture/decor consignment shops to sell things at the same time. They were by far the best - honest, good tracking, information on what sold readily available, and checks available each month as promised with no funky rules. Other two - had to contact and go in multiple times, neither could tell me what sold, one finally mailed a check after calling and going in a few times (they are now out of business) and the other would not cut a check and pay until you sold enough for a check over $50. Very nicely decorated store with lots of options for varying tastes in decor, wall art, couches, curio cabinets, dressers, headboards, coffee tables, end tables, collectibles, etc. They do a fabulous job of decorating for seasonal holidays. If they are a little picky about what they take on consignment, it is because they know what sells and who would want them to take something that would have to be picked back up in a few months. The negative comment with "Recently saw the great sales listed." had th wrong place or some personal agenda because they don't advertise sales that I know of other than on the door and inside on end of season items. read more

This has become my favorite consignment store! The store is packed full of furniture, decor items, lamps, hanging fixtures, etc. You have to really spend a lot of time in there or circle through a couple of times to avoid missing a treasure. I have sold several items there and have also purchased items, and have never had an issue. The staff is the friendliest of any consignment store around, and they know their merchandise! Their displays are great - must have a few designers on staff cause they manage to put things together very attractively. Recently, I have noticed their prices climbing, and while some things seem reasonably priced, others seem very high and might sit for a few months. I was just instantly turned away upon entering the store for having my baby with me in a stroller. The lady working would not let me walk through the store and requested that I come back without my child. It was embarrassing as other customers stopped what they were doing to watch how I might respond when they heard the saleswoman ask me to leave with my child. They looked more upset than I was! Another lady walked out with me and told me they lost her business as well. Too bad for this place, I had $500 to spend. Won't be back. read more

Horrible customer service. I purchased a coffee table from there which I was very excited about, I live out of town and explained my mom would be driving it up to me, they said they would be happy to store it for a few weeks(which was nice but I didn't even ask for, they offered.) my mom picked it up and drove to where I live. The granite top was cracked down the middle. You would think a furniture store would know how to properly pack an item like this for transport! All they did was throw a blanket on top, total joke. My mom called the shop at which time a staff member said the owner would call her back... almost 24 hours later & no call back. I work in customer service and find that alone to be very unprofessional to not even return the call. We called the shop again and my mom Was very nice and took responsibility for her role in the broken table, would have only been right for them to accept their part in it. We were offering to return the table base and the broken granite & really were only hoping for a partial refund. Clearly their policy is not providing good customer service for return business but rather take that money and run. Will never return, do not recommend. read more

I worked at a consignment store (NOT this one) for 5 years and I am totally acquainted with the "good costumer service" concept! I find the owner to be extremely rude and unaccomadating! I called two days after my 90 day consignment was up and requested to pick my things up that did not sell. The contract states that you have 7 days after your 90 day consignment expires, in which you need to pick your items up otherwise they become the stores property. I called ahead of time to let them I know I would be picking the items up. The owner was irritated and stated they would be moving things around and didn't know if they would have time to pull my things. Keep in mind I had only two things left. I WILL NEVER do business there again! Besides the prices are ridiculous and the clutter is overwhelming. In the future, I will be taking all of my items to Designer Consignments. I stopped by to pick up my things. They found one of them and stated they couldn't find the second item. There were 3 people working when I walked in. They told me I could look around and see if I could find it! Totally rude and unacceptable! Didn't offer to help me find the item. Unbelievable. They let me know that they would call if they found it. They can keep it. I have no intention of stepping foot in there again! So unprofessional! The owner needs to take classes on how to conduct a business! read more
