This review is for *Angela* who was so helpful in picking out silverware and flatware! We had a lot of considerations for the flatware, including: how high the plates sit off the top of the table (which affects how easy it will be to pick them up), how high the edge of the plate is (which effects how easily things might spill off them), how easy they will stack in dishwasher, how noisy it will be to cut on them (glazed is quieter than matte), how easily they will scratch (matte will scratch more easily), how heavy they will be, etc.! If you are a person with a disability, she would have great advice about how noisy the dishes might be when placing them down or cutting on them. She had a lot of opinions on the silverware, which was super helpful. Long story short... satin finishes scratches more easily than mirror finishes (and black will chip); if you can't stack the silverware, it will be very annoying; if the spoon is too deep, it will be uncomfortable to eat out of; and if the silverware is hollow... who wants that? Walked in yesterday morning and no workers were to be seen. I walked around the first floor to browse the selection and planned to buy more glassware for my home cafe. There was a nice lady who checked me out, however there was another worker behind her who was giving me dirty looks. She also followed me out the store, making me feel uncomfortable. She saw me make a purchase so I have no idea why she thought it was okay to be giving a customer that kind of look. The store is clean and the staff friendly but I am frustrated by their return policy. I bought a gift card as a house warming present for someone but I ended up not needing it. When I tried to return it two days later I was told it was unreturnable. This was surprising because I had once returned a gift card to them before. According to the phone line help desk, apparently there was a recent change in policy so you can no longer return the card. He clarified that if I had bought the card online he could help me but the store wouldn't accept the return... I will be much more cautious when buying things from here in the future. read more

I ordered a curb side pickup item, but there was nowhere to park but in the garage, where I paid $6 for twelve minutes of parking! Most garages are free under fifteen minutes, or have a curb side pickup location outside the garage. Also, it was not clear where I should park for curb side pickup. Even though I said I was there right before entering the garage, my phone didn't work in the garage, so I ended up having to inside anyway. There were no designated curb side parking spots with numbers, so I don't know how they would have found my car. I would not do a mobile order from here again because $6 is unreasonable, and I don't think they actually offer curb side pickup. read more

Excellent customer service! They went above and beyond to help me with a defective product, even though it was not their issue! Do not purchase any PHILIPS appliances! I bought a Philips Latte Go Machine $800.00ish, it is broken after 11 months it just stopped working. Sent to Philips to repair. They sent it back with even more issues than before, and it is still broken and with someone else's parts! They said "use it for awhile and it will get better"! makes brown water espresso. This is not my Crate & Barrel of choice, I prefer the one on International Blvd. since there's free parking and the associates are a lot more competent and helpful there. I've done a few online order pickups here and every time I go in, it seems like it takes eons for someone to actually help me, then ages for them to pull up the order and retrieve it from the back. It appears that a smile would kill the workers here. The parking also is not convenient as you have to pay for all the metered spots, or the garage, and neither is super close, especially if you are carrying heavy plates, a toddler, or both. I wish they would have a spot out in front so you could just drive up and then call them and have them bring it out to your car. I only do online pickups here if they are out of stock out of the item at the Tysons location, and I really want it. Otherwise, I wouldn't go out of my way to come here. I've gone to the Tysons location many times to buy things and to do online pickups with no problems. If you want to just browse at this C&B and see what you like or add things to your registry, that would work - but if you plan to buy a lot of stuff or do an online pickup order, just get it shipped or go to another location and save yourself the headache. read more

Crate & Barrel is a playground for gadget gurus. You will love this store if you are tactile inclined and have an admiration for modern or vintage home wares. This store has always provided superior customer service every time I've walked in the door. I once returned a geometric candle wall art piece to this store and they went above and beyond to help me out. The manufacturer used a new patina that looked nothing like the display and we opened several boxes to find a similar piece. When it couldn't be located, the salesman arranged for their display to be taken down. The display model is now on my wall. :P No matter how much foot traffic is in the store, a smiling face always offers to help. The store changes quarterly to pay homage to the current season. Normally I'd go to the Tyson's location, however, Clarendon was the only store with full stock of all the Maison dishware during the dining promo! I'm glad I went because I had not had a chance to try out the couches and chairs... and I was able to get textile swatches to bring home... I give 5 stars to Pernelle, who helped the associate (who was probably new) work the register and enter codes for my transaction. And he also helped carry out all my bags to my car so I wouldn't have to renew my street parking or pay for the lot (you have to pay to get to the loading dock otherwise!). C&B has terrific customer service, and this afternoon was the first time I had ventured into the Arlington store. I was in there only to get a gift off of my friend's wedding registry - no browsing and picking up lots of nifty little things I really don't need - and everything I wanted to look at was available for me to see. Alice was a great help, and at one point, I had three people helping me. I was really feeling the Crate & Barrel love. Purchased a few great things off the registry, Alice got everything into one enormous box, and I walked out knowing that I bought a gift that will make me look like a hero. Other stores should take note that it really isn't all that hard to treat customers nicely - hire the right people, treat them well, and everyone is happy. So disappointing... Rude and unfriendly associates! We live at Arlington and we visited this store as a family to buy some kitchen stuff. Our baby was playing with one of the wooden spoons and later when we were checking out we were told that we have to buy the wooden spoon too. I told them that I do not want to buy it ($13 for a wooden spoon!) but they told us that we have to buy it, in a very unfriendly and rude manner. We did not want to argue with them and bought the spoon, but the whole experience was very disappointing. You know, it's annoying when you get to a store and see it closed for a registry event. Granted, I enjoyably killed an hour at Barnes and Noble while I waited for Crate & Barrel to open up to the general public, but it's a slap in the face. So, I'm not registering, but it doesn't mean I can't afford to get everything I want on my own. On top of that, I thought the bins in the kitchen tools section was lacking in variety and selection. However, with some help from an employee, I was able to find a few items I came in for: a mini masher, a y peeler, and a citrus juicer. On top of that, I remembered to use the C&B coupon that came in the mail so I was able to save 10%. Woo. Overall, the store, while it looks big, has a very small feeling to me. Not only the worst furniture shopping experience ever, but the worst shopping experience in general. I've purchased several C&B pieces over the years and it's always been smooth sailing. This time I was preparing for a big move and purchased five figures worth of pieces. The salesperson told me a few pieces were out of stock but that they'd arrive by mid July. The rest would arrive July 1st, four weeks out. July 1st comes and goes, nothing. They call the next morning and say they'll be there between 9-12. Nothing. Another call that it'd be 4-7. Nothing. No calls, no notifications. I make some desperate calls and they promise my furniture in a week and a half. Unacceptable but I want my furniture so I accept with their guarantee that it will arrive on July 11th. In the meantime, I call to get an updated ETA on the backordered pieces. They tell me that it's now going to be late August before I can have my furniture. I've now decided to cancel the order except for the sofa that is supposed to arrive on July 11th. And of course, today the truck arrives without the sofa. So to date, I've paid this store five figures, spent four entire days waiting for deliveries that weren't coming, gotten zero proactive phone calls, and have lived in an empty house waiting on their empty promises. C&B will never earn my business again. read more

Quality decor a bit over priced. I am writing the review because although we saw Steve chilling at the register for at least 5 minutes, he never asked us if we needed any assistance. We finally asked a passerby store person for some assistance. She looked at us like she was above helping us and asked Steve to basically get it together/do his job/greet us. While he was helping us, the entire time Steve looked at us like, "Why are you wasting my time." We were through with the store by this point and just wanted to leave. On the way out we saw more employees of the store and asked where the manager was... They pointed to the lazy/flustered/too busy person who told Steve to help us. I decided at that moment I was going to write a Yelp review. More like 0 star customer service. Ordered a sofa in-store (sales rep was lounging in an armchair, had to walk up to him to get some service). For whatever reason the sofa wasn't in the warehouse when it was scheduled to be. Sales rep told us we should expect a call/email/text by early Nov to confirm delivery date. We received nothing. I called, the person on the phone said they would leave a copy of my inquiry with the sales rep who sold us the couch so that he could update us. A week goes by and he doesn't call, so we call them. They say the sofa is ready to be delivered to us. Now why didn't they call and tell us that? If we hadn't called would they ever have delivered the sofa? They say the couch will be delivered next Monday and that they'l call two days ahead to schedule a time slot. I'll update this review if they actually hold up to this. UPDATE: Lo and behold the couch was delivered on time. Lesson: C&B seems to listen to complaints on public forums, so be sure to leave your bad experience and upper management will make sure you get your order read more

I think it's for the best that I'd never been into a Crate & Barrel before last night. Now I have to constantly force myself to not add items to my possible future wedding registry. How amazing is this place??? It's like Ikea for pretentious people! I LOVE it! So many spooooons! And plates! And they're bluuuuuue! And although R insists that it's expensive, the prices are not *that* bad. I mean, there were real glass container thingies for $2 each, and I know that real glass container thingies can get pretty pricey at other stores. I love the minimalist designs of the tableware; sooo me. And while the future is nice, some pieces are a bit too modern for my tastes, so I think I'll go elsewhere for a big comfy couch. My eyes were glazed over in wonder the entire time I was there, but I did notice that the customer service could have been a bit friendlier. Don't get me wrong--there were a couple of associates who greeted my friend and me, but since it was a little after 8.30 and they close at 9, most of them had that, "Can you hurry up so I can get the hell out of here?" look on their faces. I live above a Crate and Barrel so I visit this store often. My bedroom set, couch and chair I picked up here. I also got some bar stools and a desk chair. All of it is still in good condition and looks to hold up well for future use. I love their seasonal decorations. I often buy more Christmas decorations that I don't need because everything looks so pretty. This print they have some nice gardening accessories and I'm fascinated with all the pots. I keep thinking I will get some. They also have an exchange system for my CO2 cartridge for the soda stream. If you recycle your old bottle with them you will get $14 off the purchase of your next bottle. read more

The customer service at this location is pretty good. I'm a little less impressed with Crate & Barrel merchandise. I love the meat thermometer but the canisters are terrible. The acrylic pitcher broke after only 3 or 4 months of use. The company's ethics, however, are what really bother me. They don't allow negative reviews on their website. Since only positive comments are allowed, potential customers get an inaccurate account of the quality of C&B products. In short, customer service at this location is pretty good but some of their products seem to be made with low quality materials. read more

C&B really needs to find another company to administer its credit cards, because Synchrony is totally inept. My wife and I both applied for a C&B credit card after buying a new house. We were both rejected by Synchrony for unexplained reasons, even though we have great credit scores and were easily approved for a loan for our new house. We were ready to spend a bunch of money at C&B on furniture for our $$ new house, but since C&B couldn't even get its act together to issue us credit cards, we're going to spend that money at West Elm instead. read more
