Greens are slow paspalum that are bumpy. Fairways are terrible and shaggy. Tee boxes are good. If you know anything about golf you will stay as far away from this place as possible. I would recommend the biltmore, price still slightly high but much better quality and pace of play. read more

This facility is definitely one of the higher end facilities and courses in South Florida. I highly recommend getting the Patron card for some miami dade courses and using the free round here at Crandon, it practically pays for its self. The course sits right on the water at key biscayne and is in pretty solid shape. You do have to pay for a bucket at the range separate from your round. The actual course plays pretty tough, but is a fun experience nonetheless. Water doesn't play for a lot of holes, but there's trees and mangroves usually, so there's still things to look out for. Hole 8 is one of my favorite holes. It is a par 3 that play about 120-130 from the whites but the hole sits way above you on a hill. The green is pretty flat, the hard part is getting up there, because if you miss off any of the edges, it will be hard to get up and down. Last time I played here, we did have a problem with the ranger who came around to complain of our pace of play, but we actually were having to wait a lot of the time for an older and slower group in front of us. It was rather annoying to have him come at us in a rude way for something that wasn't our fault, and I tried to let him know that but we were ignored. Other than that, everyone is pretty friendly. The final few holes of the course have a breathtaking view of the Miami skyline. Pictures don't do it justice. I recommend stopping and soaking it in. Definitely one of the better courses in South Florida and I recommend you give it a shot! read more

Due to the staffs miscommunication it made my groups experience miserable. One employee specifically wasted our time on the course because of a rule that all other staff said was fine. He had plenty of attitude when talking to us and was frankly disrespectful. I will never be going to this course again. read more

I was excited to try this golf course but overall it was a disappointment. The first time we played we got rained out. It was pretty much thundering the whole time but they don't blow a whistle ever because they would much rather have you get struck by lightening on their course than have to give you a refund. The guy behind us who worked there insisted it was safe to play and then a minute later it was raining cats and dogs and we were all huddled up in their not very nice bathroom shelter. Even there we got pretty wet. Only then once the course was drenched did they close the course, but the only way you discover this is by getting back in your golf cart and they issue the cancellation over the gps screen. They issued as a credit to come back and play. We only got through less than 3 holes before we had to quit yet when we came back to use our credit they wanted to charge us another 40 dollars to finish our game. They have some really crappy business practices because they won't give you a refund and instead insist you pay more just to play the round you already paid for. I thought the course would be beautiful given the location but it's not very well maintained and smells pretty awful. Some of the holes had pretty views of the city but not until later on in the game. The first hole of the course's greens was soaking wet when I came back to play and it was not from rain. They left a bunch of broken sprinklers running and it ruined the green and turned a sand trap into a water hazard. Most of the sand traps on the course only had one rake, making it hard to quickly rake the trap without delaying the game. Because of that most of the traps I encountered were in pretty bad condition later in the day. On some holes the only rake present was broken. On another hole they had left the sprinkler running directly over the cart path so there was no way to avoid getting sprayed. While it's fun to see wildlife on the course (I love when I spot a gator at the course my parents play) there were just way too many iguanas here. There was one Par 3 where there were at least 30 of them running around on the fairway. Very distracting and a scary amount. On top of that I saw two raccoons out and about during the day which also was a bit unsettling. Not a good course for beginners, way too many places to lose your ball. For some reason the course gets easier later on, which just seems like a bad layout. read more

The course has so much potential but it is not maintained well. The fairways are mostly brown, thin lies everywhere (on the fairway), and some of them are missing patches of grass. St Augustine grass on the rough makes a tough layout miserable to play. The pace of play was very slow. There were no rangers out monitoring the groups. Took over 5 hours to finish a round. No GPS on the carts either. With the patron card, this place isn't bad for $45 twilight but paying their base $110-150 rate here would be an absolute waste. read more

The golf course is ASOME! Great driving range, great service at the workshop to set up tee time.. Manager is very nice! All is amazing exept the restaurant! The People that work there don't have the education, calification and background to have this food consession. They are rude, and never have options for vegans or vegetarians. Today my husband ordered by phone to go a sandwich, coffee, and Arnold Palmer, with enouht time when we were playing at hole 7, when we arrived at the restaurant nobody knows about the order the responsable (a woman) said she didn't know and the men who took the order was not there..and it was imposible prepare in less than 15 min. Can you belive it?.. We needed to get back to play the 2nd round. Well this woman was VERY unprofessional, rude and made us feel very frustrated. Because it was like it is not my business nobody took the order... Well, well service 1 star in an amazing golf paradise.. It is ridiculous.. We decided not eat anything and get back to the course and when we were in the middle of the hole 10, ready to hit the ball, one men INTERRUPT us with very bad attitude and came to us.. With only a sandwich, no excuses nothing!! can you belive he was the person who took the Order? In instead to say apologizes he was truly rude and says well everybody were busy! He never offered an apologies.... He only said, , Mr here is your sandwiche do you want it yes or not?..honestly it is bizarre..! Of course that I don't want anything and less in that terms. So, I hope really the people can understand the value of the education, the great service, and the value to do their job with love to offer nice service, specially for people that go to there to have an amazing time to enjoy the natures, the one of the most beautiful golf courses in Miami, people like me and my husband that work hard to go and enjoy the privileges to have time and money to spend it in a good way! I have been dealt with very poorly by one of the managers, the customer service was offensive and very rude. As a customer, I have never been treated with the lack of respect that was showed. Manager spoke to my group in a demeaning manner. I am city of Miami-Dade resident and I have played at Crandon numerous times, the course is great, but after this encounter I will think twice about returning. After complaining about my experience, I never received any follow up resolution to my complaint. read more

I don't know how to golf. However, I'm going to be a doctor in 2.25 years (oh dear), so I thought I'd better learn. My Dartmouth-educated friend, who of course was raised golfing, offered to take us out to the driving range. The golfing portion of our double-date lasted about one hour, during which time I'm proud to say I never accidentally threw his clubs. We decided we'd made a valiant effort and headed into the gorgeous club house to have dinner. The kitchen was unfortunately not open, and they didn't have any fast-fix food available. It might be nice if they stocked salads or something for hungry late-afternoon golfers. However, the bar WAS open, and I'm happy to say that the our screwdrivers consisted of vodka with a splash of orange juice, instead of orange juice with a splash of vodka. I'll be back to try the food and the actual golf course (well... if I ever graduate from the driving range). read more

I had the pleasure of playing this public course. Fantastic shape from Tee to Green. The course has it's challenging holes like any other but the unique thing I found about this course, the green... You have a slim margin of error and must be precise with your approach. The greens are elevated more than others, and the narrow fairways you must keep it on the short grass. Ball flight is extremely important while playing here. If you can keep it on the short grass and your yardage (on carts also - GPS) I think you can do okay. It always sounds better after you've had a round versus playing... After my round a friend, and I had lunch, he ordered the blackened mahi, and I had the open face steak sandwich. The food was great, fresh, and good. Although the day was filled with heat, and humidity I enjoyed the round as well as the palm trees. read more

Crandon is the most convenient course to downtown and Brickell. Even then, it feels like a completely different world once you get out onto Key Biscayne. This is not a course for the high-handicapper. There is a lot of water, there are a number of tricky blind shots, and the hazards will suck up a lot of balls if your shot placement is off. If you're halfway decent, it's the best course within 25m of downtown. The landscape is absolutely beautiful. The challenge is fantastic. It's important to note for the non-locals that very few courses in this area offer rain checks. That's the reality of living in a place where it rains as much as it does down here. If you're not sure about the weather, don't go out. The course can't afford to refund everyone who gets dumped on. For the big hitters, Crandon offers a set of black tees that offer a bit more challenge than some of the shorter courses down here. In terms of facilities, I think Crandon is a bit lacking. The restaurant doesn't keep particularly late hours, the beverage cart stops running by about 4pm, and it feels like a ghost town by 5pm. read more

Pretty poorly maintained course and pace of play was absurd. On the first tee box the starter said to play "ready golf". He clearly didn't relay the message as we were waiting at every tee box for at least 10-15 minutes. What a joke. Left after 14 holes clocking in at 5.5 hours. This is easily the most lush, singular municipal golf course in Miami, thus it gets five stars from me. Plus, you won't find too many other layouts in the United States that feature mangrove-lined fairways, and par 3s over shallow saltwater lagoons with small barracuda crashing needlefish on the surface. Oh, and on occasion, you might drive your golf cart up to a green to find a giant iguana parked near your ball. Yes, this is a difficult course; it used to host an annual March event on the PGA Seniors tour. Hey, don't make fun - those old guys probably still hit the ball longer and straighter than you. You'll need that distance on several holes, most notably #4, a beast of a 600-yard par 5 that plays right into the teeth of the prevailing easterly breeze. I once scored par on this hole, but it was by way of getting lucky and draining a ridiculous 60-foot putt from the back of the green - discounting that miracle as a rare gift from the links gods, this hole is usually an 8-10 for me. Perhaps even more important that distance, you'll need pinpoint accuracy off the tee to score well here. I mentioned that the fairways are often lined with mangroves - slice a drive into one of those mangrove stands, and you're not getting that ball back. Out of bounds penalty, stroke and distance, baby - get your sorry self back to the tee box, shooting 3. Humbling. There's also plenty of sandtraps, and many of the greens have a good deal of slope, making for some difficult putts. Like many South Florida courses, prices are relatively inexpensive in the summer and early fall, and skyrocket in the winter as out-of-towners seek 70-degree golf in February. It's truly hotter than hell out there in August, but for this course at the low summertime locals' rates, the searing heat is worth enduring. read more

This course is spectacular. But your experience will probably depend on what season you go. As for me, I had the pleasure of playing in the mid-November Off-Season. Despite the heavenly 80 degree weather, we still only had to pay the off-season rate, which even for out-of-towners was still only $65, cart included. For locals its an astonishing $35 or close to that The course is beautiful, but fairly challenging, with breathtaking views of the bay and Miami in the distance. Palm trees overhead, alligators in the water, tropical birds flying through the sea breeze. What more could you ask for? Oh yeah, you could ask for complimentary GPS loaded computer scorecards and maps in every cart. And you can electronically order food from the clubhouse from the same screen. This is as nice as a public golf course gets, and when you factor in the off-season rates, its practically a steal. You'd be losing money by NOT playing at the Crandon Park GC. read more

Beautiful golf course. The scenery is incredible and the course is in great shape. Came here after a pretty decent rain storm and I could barely tell it had rained. Seems to drain very well. Loved playing here as I got to look around at the nice scenery and enjoy the greens, fairways, bunkers, all parts of the golf course are in great shape. Definitely will go back. The pace of play is typically not an issue here as they generally keep things moving. I generally only go at twilight as the rates are a bit steep during the day. Came here mid March this past year and the course in some parts was unplayable due to some flooding. I teed off at around 3pm and the range had already closed so I could not warm up. It's a beautiful course but it was also very windy and conditions were overall difficult. The placement of water and other hazards are also difficult to maneuver. Not recommended for the novice golfer. read more
