HIGHLY Recommend Mike Simmons!…read more I held back on reviewing and waited until I was good amount of lessons in to give a thorough review. But cutting to the chase: Get lessons with the guy! You won't regret it! The long version: My father + I have been golfing together since I was super young. (He secretly hoped for me to be the next Michelle Wie, pfft) But it was always casual and my father has always been my "coach". Fast forward to now, after a longggg hiatus I'm now in my late twenties and about to move to the Carolinas where there is a myriad of golf courses (like Florida). I really wanted to be more than just "decent" or "okay" and hold my own out there. Lets just say that I wanted to graduate from schooling everyone at Mini Golf and get ready for the Big Leagues ;D That's where Mike Simmons comes in. My father found Mike and we immediately set lessons together as a Father-Daughter activity together before I move away. We bought a package from Mike that includes 6 Lessons and round of Golf on the course. Despite having some experience and my father being his own self proclaimed guru (with clubs straight from 1970s and never updated, mind you) Mike is able to break down the fundamentals of the game in a very thorough and concrete way. (And convinced my father to update his clubs! haha) Our lessons consisted of learning all aspects of the game. History, foundation, long range, short game. And all the little details in between from your stance, how to properly how the club, lining your shot. Nothing is missed. At times it may seem like information overload but once you hit that sweet shot you'll have that "Ah-ha!" moment that only Mike could provide. If I wasn't leaving in a couple of months I would definitely get more lessons from him. A++

Ok people have been talking a lot of trash about Palmetto, but they renovated the course about a…read moreyear ago. The price is objectively a little too high for what it is unless you are a miami dade patron. The greens are pretty good, the fairways are in 6/10 condition, the tee boxes are about the same. The restaurant is quite good too and the staff is always polite. People clearly have had variable experiences but I wouldn't let that turn me away.

Miami-Dade county continues to make mistakes and take steps that make me just scratch my head…read more Raising the price for greens fees to $109 for a round of golf is criminal. The quality of the experience, and the quality of the course should dictate the price, not some unelected bureaucrat who most likely can't golf. I was told today that the prices were increased to "improve" the course. Really? How about using common sense and fixing the course and then possibly raising the price because the course would actually be worth it? What a novel concept. Whoever the idiot was that got either a kickback, or was simply swindled by the Trackman rep, and put those useless arcade style trackman on the driving range, should be fired. Hundreds of thousands of taxpayer dollars wasted and over $6000 a month in rental fees for absolutely useless equipment. And the $22 a bucket price for golf balls is insane. So let's add this up: Trash course in pathetic shape(tee boxes and fairways are garbage), other than the greens, which are decent. Inept management that allow entirely too many people out, with tee times too closely packed together resulting in 6+ hour rounds Over $500k in wasted tax dollars on pointless arcade game trackmans on a dilapidated driving range with exorbitant pricing Greens fees which have increased dramatically over the last 3 years that do not reflect the quality of the course, or the experience being paid for. To charge over $100 for Palmetto should be considered a crime. If you are a Miami-Dade resident, and you care about golf in this county, let the imbeciles who have made these idiotic decisions know how you feel. And vote with your pocketbook since we didn't elect these clowns- REFUSE TO PLAY COUNTY COURSES until they reduce the pricing, or provide a product worth the price.

Will always go there when staying in Key Biscayne. The daily fee isn't cheap but the rest of Key Biscayne isn't either.

I was concerned about doing my day to day workouts at the Key Biscayne Community Center (KBCS). Well, I was wrong. KBCS has a very clean, well laid out, and functional weight room. They have enough dumbbells and barbells to handle the volume of people they have (I haven't worked out there right at 6pm - the typical heavy time - but my normal time is around 7pm, and it's not bad at all). The staff is kind and courteous and it's really hard to beat the location. I have two (small) issues that prevent me from giving it 5 stars: 1. Lack of Hammer Strength equipment. Now, free weights are the best, but there are certain Hammer Strength machines (they use the same plates as barbells) that make a world of difference. Lacking those does bother me, so I ended up keeping my LA Fitness membership for certain workouts. Unfortunate, but understandable due to lack of space. 2. Iffy cardio machines (specifically elliptical). Now, you may be wondering why I even care, considering it is beautiful outside. Well, while that's true, I enjoy the elliptical and doing HIIT there, especially days where I don't want to bash my knees while running several miles. The ellipticals they do have have a problem where they reach a max speed (rendering me unable to do HIIT sprints) or they get so shaky and noisy I think they're going to break. I never had this issue with the ellipticals I used at LA Fitness. KBCS does a lot of things well, including the countless activities and happenings outside of the weight room. It seems to be a real community center, drawing people of all ages. Their pool is also top notch, no complaints there. If you live on Key Biscayne, you can purchase a membership for less than other gyms around Miami. You typically buy it on a yearly plan, so you pay one lump sum, but it comes out less per month. If you decide to do it with monthly charges, then you will end up paying more than other gyms. All in all, the KBCS is a great place to be!
