It's a bloody shame that money and sponsorship issues have the PGA move away from this venue. By far one of the most challenging courses I have played. Water and sand every where and small strips of grass. We where there in driving rain and only a few weeks before the tour as grand stand etc was being put up! It looks hard on tv and it's even harder in real life. Expensive but done top notch my only knock on the facilities is the range. Hitting of matts just isn't my thing at 450.00 a round The 18-hole "Blue Monster" course at the Trump National Doral Golf Club facility in Miami, Florida features 7,450 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 72 . The course rating is 74.5 and it has a slope rating of 130 on Bermuda grass. Designed by Raymond Floyd/Jerry Pate/Greg Norman/(R) Gil Hanse, the Blue Monster golf course opened in 2013

Overall, I'd have to say, I was extremely underwhelmed with my experience at Trump National Doral. With that being said, there were some positive aspects of my time there and I'll start with those... As anyone would expect at a Trump-owned property, opulence was in abundance. One feels as if he/she is walking into the Taj Mahal when entering the hotel lobby. The course itself was in immaculate condition but is, in no way, worth the $400 green fee (or 4-hour drive from Orlando). And this brings me to the negative facets of Trump National Doral. If you just want to play on a course you've seen the professionals play on television, by all means, book a tee time at Doral Blue Monster. As an avid golfer and one that has played many courses frequented by the PGA Tour, The Blue Monster course was very underwhelming. Although plenty difficult, the layout is boring and feels like almost any other resort golf course in Florida. While we coughed up $25.00 per person for the caddie, he was not all that helpful to our experience. Rather then walking to our landing area to watch where the tee shots would end up, he walked 100-159 yards into the fairway and attempted to watch your ball flights through a rangefinder. One particular shot went into the tree area... Instead of walking to help look for the ball, the caddie remained on the green simply stating that the player did not get a favorable bounce. No yardage measurement or attempt to locate the ball so the player could play it (which he eventually found on his own!). Most offensive, the caddie chose to interject his political beliefs while waiting on the 18th hole! While we expressed a preference not to discuss the election, the caddy continued on about the Presidential Election and how anyone could possibly vote for his candidates opponent. Still, if these had been my only issues with the property, I would have been quite pleased with my experience had it not been for the greediness of the hotel, charging guests more money at seemingly every turn. The Sunday morning tee time had a price tag of nearly $400. When we went in the pro shop to check in, we were charged a $25 forecaddie fee (in addition to the suggested $25 gratuity for the caddie). I've played many courses that require the use of a forecaddie and I've never been charged a fee by the course. The merchandise in the shop and the beverages in the bar were, of course overpriced - $120 shirts and $5 gatorades. Upon completion of the round I walked to grab my car from valet where I was informed that despite a $400 round price tag, I was informed that I would be charged an additional $20.00 for the valet. While you would think maybe self parking was complimentary, no it's $5.00 per hour! Needless to say, we were quite unimpressed with the experience at Trump National Doral.

The course itself seems to be in good condition but wasn't immaculate. I'm not sure what the FL standard is but I had no issues. Pace of play was good on a Saturday morning. Recommend ordering food ahead via the cart as the wait to order inside is a little long because they don't have premade options available unless it's a candy bar, etc. Staff are friendly and you're set with a small bucket of range balls with your round. They'll also clean your clubs once you've finished. Water is available quite often throughout the course to refill your bottle. Booking is a hassle if you're traveling in as they only open online 5 days in advance or require you to book via a hotel concierge. Price is high, but is apparently in line with other courses in the area. I'm used to $100 being the top end in the Chicago so $177 is a bit shocking when nothing particularly justifies the extra cost. It's golf and I had a good time at the end of the day but I think value could be better.

When a nearby table opened up, we asked if our friends could be moved next to us. Our server was kind, said it should be possible, and went to speak with the manager. We had also spoken with the hostess, who seemed overwhelmed by the number of walk-ins. About 12 minutes later, instead of seating our friends at the available table, the restaurant seated a party of 2 there. Since our friends were only 4 people, they easily could have been accommodated at that table. What made the experience worse was the manager, JP. He came to our table claiming the table was reserved, but that didn't seem accurate--we spoke with the couple who had just been seated there, and they told us they were walk-ins. We understand that restaurants have policies and reservations to manage, but JP's attitude and lack of customer service were disappointing. There was no effort to find a solution or show any empathy. The restaurant wasn't even full, and many guests were heading to the mini golf course, so the situation felt unnecessarily inflexible. Puttshack has a fun concept, but customer service is just as important as the experience. We hope upper management reviews how situations like this are handled, because JP's approach did not reflect the level of hospitality customers expect.

The customer service was excellent. Our waitress was friendly and attentive, and a manager even stopped by to make sure everything was going well. I appreciated how welcoming and accommodating the staff were throughout our visit. One of the things I enjoy most about Topgolf is that you don't have to be good at golf to have fun. There are several game options to choose from, and the Sonic game was a favorite because players of all skill levels can compete and score points. The app made ordering food quick and convenient. I ordered the pepperoni flatbread, and it was excellent. Our group also enjoyed boneless wings and a trio appetizer with vegetables, pita, and dips. Everything arrived quickly, and the food exceeded my expectations. One tip: check bay pricing before you visit. We noticed that rates increased throughout the afternoon, so earlier time slots may save you some money. Overall, we had a great experience. The food and service were okay overall, but I really wish the timing process had been explained more clearly when we first arrived. We started with 30 minutes of play time and assumed that window would also give us time to decide what we wanted to eat. Our food arrived about five minutes before our time ended, and we were told we would need to extend. We said we wanted to eat first and then restart our play time after. At first, they said that was fine, but then someone came over and added time without fully explaining it. We initially thought it might be complimentary, but it ended up being charged, which was fine. When that time was ending, they came back again asking if we wanted to extend. We explained the same thing, and that is when they told us we could not finish eating at the bay and would have to move into the restaurant. If we wanted to play again after, we would have to go through the whole check-in process again. At that point, we agreed to extend one more time and eat while playing. That said, the food itself was great. The service was great and our spot was clean and nice when we got there. We ordered the hot honey pizza and the lemon pepper wings, and both tasted delicious. It was not a huge deal, but it was a little frustrating since none of this was explained upfront. A clearer explanation from the beginning would have made the experience smoother.

I completely understand that a hotel lobby can be a busy place, especially at a large resort. However, at one point, a teenager was driving a remote-controlled car throughout the lobby while guests were actively trying to walk in and out with luggage. Despite multiple staff members being present, including the doorman and several employees at the front desk, no one stepped in or said anything. It felt incredibly inconsiderate to the other guests and was surprising to see it simply being allowed to continue. The front desk experience throughout our stay was also disappointing. Several times when members of our group had issues with their rooms, the staff seemed unsure of how to handle them and, more importantly, did not handle the situations with the level of friendliness, professionalism, or hospitality you would expect from a resort of this caliber. It's possible some employees were new, but there seemed to be a general lack of confidence and customer service training at the front desk. The property itself has plenty to offer, including the golf course, water park, spa, and other resort amenities. Unfortunately, great amenities do not supersede poor customer service. At a hotel carrying the JW Marriott name and price point, I expected a much higher level of attentiveness and hospitality. The resort may be beautiful, but the service ultimately left the biggest impression and unfortunately, it was not a positive one.
