Several years ago, I had Cramer install windows in my downstairs. They did an excellent job. The fit was perfect, even in my slightly wonky Victorian. All gaps were caulked and we haven't had an issue with those windows. Last winter, I had Cramer replace the upstairs windows (At about twice the cost per window). The installation was very poor and I've had to go back with 1/8 and 1/4 inch backer rod and then caulk to seal the gaps. Several of the windows were installed so poorly that the locks don't latch properly and cold air is just pouring through on all sides. As they were finishing up this time, I asked about the caulking. "Oh, we don't do that any more." I know I should have had them come back and re-do the entire job but, honestly, I refuse to let them in my house again. Buyer beware. read more

Had all of the windows in my house replaced with Cramer. The crew installed the windows leaving them dirty (with grease on them?) and quarter round not caulked. Asked to resolve, and they did. Two of the window frames were installed with large deep scrapes in the frame. Had to have those re-ordered and re-installed. Installers did not seem to bother to 'quality check' and rely on the customer to do this. Making it very awkward. Another window had a defect in between the glass panes, their crew has been out 3 times to replace, each time the "factory messed it up". One of the times they came, the installer did not bother to clean their shoes, resulting in the new carpets needing cleaned thoroughly. Explained my dissatisfaction with the sales rep and just had a simple apology and very little ownership of the process. I gave them two stars because they respond back, and continue to try. However, the lack of professionalism and quality in the production has left me with major regret on this purchase. Would certainly NOT recommend. read more

In my book, they don't deserve a star of any kind, rather a minus. I contracted with them to fix the gutters at the front of my house. Had to give them a $400 deposit. (lesson learned; reputable contractors don't ask for deposits!) Waited for several weeks for them to come to do the work. I was in the backyard when they came. Finally heard them in the front yard; was not recognized by the foreman but he was busy talking to his men about a problem which he would not disclose to me. Well the problem turned out to be that the salesman, Joe, had misjudged what they could do and the whole front of the house had to be replaced. The foreman would not communicate with me; was taking his orders from the "girl" in the office who told him to proceed anyway. I ordered him off the property because I am the owner and paying for this. It is my business and I will make the decision. I am not having further work done on my house without knowing what it is going to cost. Yes, they claim they have fired the guy and made me another offer. I didn't want that offer because you see I could have gotten the whole thing done for the price of the deposit by reputable contractors. But because I had Gutter Helmets and had my roof replaced by another contractor, the warranty was voided. The pitch was how dare I do that but they were going to be so kind and replace the warranty on the small section they were going to repair. Yeah, for a hefty price. Well, I don't think their warranty is worth the paper it is written on. I was not told upfront that those helmets could not be touched by another contractor. Just a set-up so you have use them for roofing if you have gutter helmets. They couldn't deliver the contract I signed; their error; they did not do the work; they owe me $400, not a return phone call from me so they can further high pressure and harass me. Sorry, I am a woman, but not a completely stupid woman. Pay up! read more

Worst customer service and they DO NOT respect women. AVOID AT ALL COST. Recently, I called Cramer Siding & Window Co for an estimate on getting new soffits. I knew that I wanted white, aluminum soffits. Pretty simple. While a number of other companies listened to what I wanted and then measured my house and mailed or delivered the estimate, Cramer refused to give me an estimate unless my husband was home. I asked why I needed my husband to be there. They said that HE needed to be there to make the decision. There really wasn't a decision to be made. I explained exactly what I wanted, white aluminum soffits, just give me a price please. Didn't happen. I understand that if were were signing a contract for services to be performed, we should both be there. However, I feel it's unnecessary for him to be home for an ESTIMATE when all they really need to do is measure the house and then price it for the materials and labor. Most estimates that I received were from companies that came and measured without me being home. While relaying this story to a friend of mine, she said she had a very similar situation. She asked for an estimate on windows. A Cramer employee with a trainee shadowing him came to her house. She explained what she wanted and the Cramer employee asked for her husband to come outside and speak to them because, "You're not qualified to make that decision." Those were his EXACT words. Those two instances are upsetting and frustrating. I'm not some angry feminist, but I feel very disrespected by Cramer Siding & Window. *Just wanted to add an update to this. After sharing this story with other people, I've been told that the reason they require BOTH people to be there at the time of the estimate is because they use high-pressure sales tactics to get you to sign a contract immediately. Then, they sell your information to a finance company which constantly call you. I still stand that they don't respect women because of their awful comments. Add'l story here from my best friend's mother: Cramer came and was putting siding on their house in Mahomet. They paid extra to have the house wrapped (I guess that means that there are no seams in the siding-could be wrong though). When she came home as Cramer was installing it, she noticed they were not doing the wrapping. She asked one of the crew about it and they said that they weren't supposed to wrap it. She said, that he was wrong and they paid for it. Then he yelled at her telling her she was wrong!! The supervisor eventually drove out there and in fact, they were wrong and it was not being installed correctly. The whole job had to be started over. How does anyone get off yelling at a 60+ year old woman? They were wrong. I just don't understand how they are still in business if they treat people so badly. read more

I have gotten both windows and a front door from Cramer. The windows have been great, for a good price. However, the door is a different matter. One person arrived, and this door is heavy, I asked him if he could handle the door and he said no problem. Well, he got the door in, sort of. There is about a one cm. gap between the door and the floor and and there about a 2 cm. gap between my floor and the frame that he tried to fill in with a towel. I admit I should have said something to Cramer but didn't until now. read more

We used them a year ago to do our siding and they were fantastic! Matt came out and did the estimate and explained everything to us in detail. The men who did the work, well, we couldn't have asked for anything better. We're calling them now to replace windows! read more

We decided to go with another company but felt a need to comment after reading the only other review. I called many companies. The responses and approaches to a bid were quite varied. At one end of the spectrum, onc guy dropped by and got the measurements before even calling me. The neighbor thought him a prowler. A few did not show up, or showed up quite late. Some had difficulty with detail and questions. Some were just too busy, or the person answering the call unprofessional. With the three finalists there was still some back and forth of clarification. Cramer would be on the other side of that spectrum. The scheduler seemed trained to ensure that both halves of the household signing would be present at the meeting. The approach seemed a little dated. The gal at a loss as to explain or convince as to why to my satisfaction. But it did seem as if time could be best utilized if both signing parties were present to get a full and quick answer. They called, to confirm the day before, and eariler that morning and arrived on time. I had no idea the gentlemen arriving would be so detail oriented and unfortunately could not have in the house. He seemed to take it in stride. I have to say he gave a thorough presentation, complete with swatches of soffit, various gutter guards, with and without venting, and more. We learned a great deal from his presentation. Mr. Burdette (Design Consultant) stated he was born and raised in the area, and Cramer has been around decades and guaranteed their work. Afterwards was presented FOUR quotes based on various options. So if TIME is important, and you have lots of questions and would like options. The meeting will take longer than a walk around the garage. I can reccomend giving them a chance even though my husband chose someone else. My only critism is that the schedulers might want to use "the person making the final decision and the person signing the contract" instead of terms like "wife" and "husband." Not to be oldfashioned or seem sexist but for clarity. read more

My review is a bit tardy, but I guess great service never goes out of style. In February of this year, I came home from work to discover my back door kicked in/destroyed and my home robbed. This is never a good experience, but the people at Cramer's, especially Kristy and Joe, were angels to me. I called them, half in tears, because of a demolished french door in the middle of winter, and they treated me with compassion and professionalism. They immediately came out, put a fast-track on the order with the door manufacturer, sent their installers out the day after the new door arrived, and followed up with me to see not only how the door was doing but how *I* was doing. I knew I was getting special treatment, but they understood the urgency of my situation. I told Kristy and Joe at the time that in this day and age, finding a company that is competent and professional sometimes feels like a stroke of good luck. But finding a company that treats its customers with such kindness is even more rare. Every step of the way, Kristy and Joe and the people at Cramer's treated me like a human being first and a customer second. That's the kind of service and the kind of company that I want to work with. I can't recommend them enough based on this experience. read more

they replaced the shingles on my roof, very quick service and the roof looks great. i had a leaking issue around the heating vent in the garage...they responded very quickly to my call and addressed the issue but was still having some leaking...they came back out and turns out it was a problem with my heating system that had come apart in the attic causing condensation so no problems with the job they did, excellent roofing job and excellent customer service. read more

I contacted Cramer for an estimate on a small siding job. It took almost 3 weeks before someone contacted me to schedule an appointment. I was somewhat surprised by the questions to even schedule an appointment (e.g. how long have I owned the house, am I the sole owner). After scheduling the appointment, I was told that the sales rep would call me the day before to confirm. I did not receive the confirmation call and no one came for the scheduled time/day. As I didn't want to waste another 3 weeks waiting for a possible appointment, I decided not to try again with Cramer. read more

We had gutter helmets installed by Cramer & haven't detected any problems so far. However, our interaction with the company could be better. During the installation, the workman completely flattened my herb garden. He didn't leave one plant standing. When the company made a follow-up call on the quality of service, I mentioned this. She seemed very disinterested. After we paid our bill, which we did promptly, they kept calling us to request payment. This was long after our check had been cleared by the bank. Apparently they don't keep very good records. Finally my husband insisted that they go over their records & they discovered the check, but not a word of apology for harassing us. read more

The worse experience with a company ever. The customer rep that was to measure and give me an estimate on new windows was 1.5 HOURS late for the appointment. I had left work early to meet him, called their office twice trying to find out when he would arrive. Finally, they told me 4:30 (was to be there at 3:30), and he got there at 5:00. He told me he had gone to Danville. He did that knowing he would not get to my house on time and did not even call. I could have stayed at work, run errands, etc. He was plain rude. The office even made me respond to a confirmation email that I would be home at that time. The office staff was rude as well. Do not EVER use them for anything. read more

If I could give this company NO stars, I would! My elderly parents were bullied into signing up for a promotional deal without having seen the actual cost of the contract work to be done. No cancellation policy was ever mentioned nor any notice of a cancellation form was attached to the contract. This company cashed my parent's 8,500 deposit money, after my parents decided to cancel the contract work. Nothing has been done at our house, and they took our money. We have filed a compliant with the Attorney General of Consumer Protection Division, and they have not responded. PEOPLE, THIS IS DAYLIGHT ROBBERY! This company should be ashamed of itself for stealing money from the elderly, and this was dated back in late August. It's now December, and they have not responded. We are taking them to court. PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY- they are a FRAUD!!! read more
