I kept getting mailer ads for this place and then started seeing ads in the local papers for their designer lines. I figured it would be a good thing to support a local business rather than schlep myself to DSW and be dissapointed with last year's selection or to Oak Brook and be robbed. I was so glad I went here! I came in just to see if I could find some Vans and left with a replacement pair of blue Vans and ordered a new hunter green style of Danskos. The husband also found a mock-suede pair of slip ons and our salesman waited on us both, answering all of my (many) questions without rushing us at all. I asked about the Sperrys and he told me to wait to spring for the next styles that seemed more my style based on what I said I was looking for. To me, that sold me on being a permanent customer because he was not just trying to move stock, but trying to make sure I was happy with my purchase. My ordered shoes were in after less than a week and I love them! I also love that parking is easy in this area - and the tapas restaurant we like is across the street - food and shopping? I was in need of a cute but comfortable heel for work and figured it would be an all day shopping exercise in futility. How wrong I was! I try to shop local when possible so my first (and last) stop was Craig's Shoes. They had a pretty generous selection of comfy yet cute shoes,I tried on a few pairs, and being that I have such great taste, the ones I wanted were a little out of my price range. I was just about to settle on a different pair when the man offered to take20% off! Well I obviously bought them and I'm so glad I did. I have gotten so many compliments on them already! I live out of state and travel to Berwyn often to visit my family. My sisters and I stopped in here because they were looking for Dansko. Much to my surprise I found a cute pair of wedges in the material that I wanted. I asked the older gentlemen that was working if he had a size 7 1/2 and he brought me out a size 9 telling me they were a size 6, hmmmm.... He told me that he didn't have a size 7 1/2 in the black and to call on Thursday to see if they were going to get that shoe in their shipment. I asked him if he had the beige ones in a 7 1/2 to try on, he did. Before leaving the older gentlemen told me to call to check and then proceeded to tell me that the only 7 1/2 in black they had in the store, one of the shoes were in the window on display and he would not sell me that pair because its too much work to take it out of the window. My sisters and I looked in the window to see where the show was located and it was within reach and it was not mess-up his display. Oh well :/ Called on Thursday, couldn't give me any information about the shoe. Called the following week, couldn't tell me if they were getting it again. This week would be the 3rd week and the girl that I spoke to, I told that I lived out-of-state and to call me if they got my size in. No call and its been 3 days, thanks for promising Craig's Shoes. Went in Sunday morning, nobody else shopping, two young assistants were very courteous and helpful -- even though I had them running back and forth as I was trying pretty much every slip on in the shop...! This is a great place to get practical, comfortable shoes at competitive prices. They stock lots of name brands (Merrell, Privo, Dansko to name a few), and have shoes for men, women, and children. It's an old-fashioned full service shoe store, which is hard to find these days. They not only get the shoes from the back room for you, but they place them on your feet! It was my first visit to the store, so before I arrived I called the store and spoke to Juan. I wanted to confirm that the store carried a particular shoe in my size and color. Juan was very nice and confirmed that the store had the shoe I wanted. Upon arrival at the store, I was immediately greeted by both Juan and Jennifer. The store carries a great selection of ladies, mens and children shoes, sandals, boots, hosiery and shoe cleaners. I bought 3 great pairs of shoes! I have been to every good shoe shop in Chicago, and I saw on Yelp this place had a good review. I have to say that I have never had such a horrible experience as I did here. The customer service is similar to Walmart, and the man, I guess I can call him a man, helping me was very rude!!! I have a hard time finding shoes that -- A. I like, B. fit right, C. are comfortable, and D. are affordable. Craig's Shoes always has just what I'm looking for. When we had a longer than normal winter, they were the only shoe store around that still had a good selection of winter boots. The service is top-notch. Shoes can be pricey-but oh so worth it. Dansko is my fav new brand of shoes!! Sometimes you can get lucky with the clearance tables also and find a pair for cheap! I am visiting from California and was looking for some good walking shoes. They have a good variety but what impressed me most was the beyond excellent customer service. Firstly, I try a lot of shoes on before I buy. I'm really picky when it comes to footwear. The guys helping me were wonderful. They found shoes in my size, that they thought may work. I felt like I wanted to take them to dinner because they were so accommodating. I did find a couple of pair of shoes. One pair of comfortable sandals for home and another pair for hiking in general. I live in Oak Park and I am trying to shop local, so I checked out Craig's. They carry brands that I like, including Keen, Merrell, Red Wing, Ugg, and many more. Service is fast and courteous. The store is easy to find (NE corner of East and Cermak) and there is plenty of parking, either on the street or behind the store. They have frequent sales and I just picked up a great pair of sandal for $10. They have a great selection of kids shoes too. And if they don't have your size, they will order it for you. read more

Very disappointing service. In the past the sales staff seemed more knowledgable and upfront. There is a good selection of quality brand shoes in the store. However they frequently don't have my size (41 euro not that unusual). I almost exclusively wear Dansko clogs and the sales person brought a size up because they were out of my size. I told her they were the wrong size and she said they could order them. I was then wanting to try another brand sandal and they were tight to try. I checked the size and they were a size too small. I said the size was wrong and she told me they run big. It really felt slippery at Craig's today. The only reason I gave them 2 stars is because of the large selection of shoe. I think the days of the good shoe stores with good sales people no longer exists. It's too bad; I really would prefer to shop locally. read more

I ordered 2 pairs of $100 shoes online... Craig's Shoe Store price was 4 or 5 dollars cheaper on each. Did I make a mistake? Yes. It took over 2 weeks to get the shoes... I called several times and staff was very lazy and uncommitted about when I'd get them. And I hate the fact that 1) the phone number posted on the website is NOT the phone number for "online orders." No, it's an actual retail store. So staff put me on hold forever while they helped customers (or whatever). Then they finally gave me the 'online order" phone number, and it, too, had a (708) area code. So this company doesn't even have a 1 (800) number! It's just shocking how incompetent they are. The website did NOT say they were not in stock, so I'm not sure what the hold up was. I imagine that their retail stores are asked to ship online orders and their staff doesn't want to bother. So I finally got them over 2 weeks later and one pair had obviously been worn. They were scuffed, marked and scratched. These are $100 shoes. I was so mad that I e-mailed their customer service staff so I can return them. Oh, and they don't have any set up to do returns, so I (luckily) had printed out my own invoice when I ordered them (so that I could call and call and call them)... so I'll have to use that. Why? Because there was no invoice in the box with the shoes! I think they do this on purpose so you feel you have to keep them. They also say free shipping and free returns on their website, but this is a lie. When you read the fine print online about returns, you find out that you (the customer) has to pay to return them AND when they receive them, they credit you MINUS the original shipping to send you the shoes. That's right, you are paying to get them sent to you AND send them back--even if the stuff is wrecked (like 1 of my pairs of shoes was) or they come weeks and weeks later. I would say that this is the MOST UNPROFESSIONAL place I've ever done online business with. So disappointing. I will never, ever, ever buy anything from them again. They are just bad, bad, bad, bad, bad. Bad! read more

Horrible, rude customer service. I placed can order on line for slippers. I got an email back, saying tat the once I wanted were no available, and that the website had some issue. They asked me if I wanted different colours. I was ok with that. What I was not ok with was with what they mailed me. Right shoe was faded blue, the other was faded purple. The colour did not match! Called long distance, no answer. Emailed them with photos, and they did confirm what I was thinking. They mailed and charged me full price for slippers that were store sample. One shoe was stored in a box, while the other was on display by a sunny window. When I wondered why would they do that to the customer, they started to "educate" me on the process of natural material fading. I get that shoes fade overtime, but the fading should be done on my child's feet. There is no way in he'll, I am going to pay full price fir faded, unmatched shoes! I mailed the shoes back, they were rude as I paid for shipment that provided tracking(they didn't like that). The refund they issued me does not even cover regular shipping. Unbelievable! Rude and unethical! And since they wrote to me that the slippers will be sold for regular price to another customer, I wrote here to warn others! read more
