I came in about a week ago and was helped by the wonderful Suzanne. I was truly open to any shoe in the store but she quickly helped me narrow things down after my fitting. The whole process was really in depth but fun and I enjoyed chatting with her too! I settled on some very cute pink Hoka Cliftons which are a massive upgrade from what I came in wearing. There wasn't any pressure to get something right then but since my chosen color was in stock in my size, I walked out wearing my purchase! Yes, these shoes are expensive but so far they are worth every penny. I will be back for sure when I need my next pair of sneakers. read more

When i first walked into the store nobody acknowledged me. It then took five minutes for me to find an employee and ask them to assist me in finding the shoe i wanted. And when I requested to see a shoe size , and the employee informed me that it wasn't available but said that it was in another color. When i asked to see the color that was available the employee asked whether or not it was a gift, and i told her that it was. She then states she wouldn't recommend it and refused to show me it in the available color and walked away from me. The service was noticeably worse than the service given to the Caucasian customers around me. read more

They are often busy, especially in weekends. There is paid parking close by, including EV charging options. They have running gear, trendy running shoes and nutrition needs. Been buying running shoes from Fleet Feet for almost a decade, but got a bad pair (I tried on shoes in store, but they didn't have my color, so they mailed me same model in different color and the shoes I received didn't fit). I only wore them twice, but they refused an exchange. I explained that I didn't come back within 30 day deadline, because I was out of town. Sorry, we sold you bad shoes, but your stuck with them. The place is so understaffed. It may seem rude but trust me the literal only way to get service is to just start grabbing shoes from the display and jamming your feet into them. If you can't reach the window, beginning to undress a mannequin is similarly effective. If you saw a shoe on their website and just want to stop in and purchase it, you cannot do that. It isn't that kind of store. I was happy to have a long consultation with an experienced runner who suggested a great shoe but I felt so bad she seemed to be the only helpful employee there I felt guilt tripped into purchasing a shoe that is cheaper online. The money I saved with my final shoe choice (compared to what I wanted to just buy) was about equivalent to the cost of missing work so I can't be too upset, but someone who makes over a living wage might be upset with the amount of wait time. read more

It could especially be a little difficult with my father's lack of hearing but Ann was super sweet with him acknowledging his questions and speaking directly to him. We came in here on 06/24/19 to get my girlfriend a new pair of running shoes. She was kind of torn between a few different pairs and wanted to try them on. She's been running in the Brooks Glycerin for some time and was thinking of going to the a new pair. This store is located in the heart of downtown Oak Park. There is plenty of park with minimal fees and it's very easy to get to by public transportation. The store is very clean, tons of options for shoes and clothing and always new products coming in. The prices are fair, but let's be real good shoes cost a little money. It's a great investment since you're running and putting miles on them. We were waited on by Pablo, a younger sales associate. He was very friendly, extremely knowledgeable and went out of his way to help us. He was patient and let my girlfriend use the treadmill they have inside. I would give zero star's if I could. Worst Fleet feet don't shop at this location either different location or different store brand all together. Total Karen type 50 something or looks it & young And the most evil awful employe & probably without question the worst worst person I think I have encounterd in my life, Not exaggerating. She was 1 of 2 people in the store and a very empty store for good reason. Every customer left after hearing her speak to us so condescendingly rude and we returned socks we bought at the store on the way home at our neighborhood fleet feet so she didn't get sales credit or commission of any kind. We returned what we bought at Oak Park fleet feet and bought it back at the downtown Fleet Feet store in our neighborhood. The sales girl apologized for her behavior and said she never heard anything so awful. And that they do no tolerate behavior like that from employees & how it is their goal to go above and beyond for the customers at their store location & or company. It was Very satisfying way of feeling better about the stress she didn't receive any credit and a nice sale person at the other store did receive her commissions or credit not sure if they get commission but either way it still was returned and bought so she won't receive anything from the sale. My friend realized she shouldn't have even bought the socks there on the way home & one of them was a birthday gift for me so win win. My friend got much better specialty shoes so it worked out & never going there again as well as everyone I know feels the same not ever going to Oak Park Fleet Feet ever again. read more

I thought long and hard before posting this review. I had my feet scanned and was surprised to find out I was a wide. The machine also told me I'm a 5.5 but I run in 6 because 5.5 shoes don't fit me. I was then given a selection of maybe 5 shoes none of which I liked at all. I told the person helping me about my running problems and none of that was taken in account when I was given the shoes. I really didn't receive any interest or conversation in picking out shoes. I usually run in Nike and none were brought out but I was open to other bI understand that I have a common shoe size and that they were probably out of a lot of my size. I ended up buying the pair of on shoes which have given me horrible knee pain in addition to the ankle pain I started out with so I will be returning them as soon as possible. No one analyzed my run but that could also be part my fault. Maybe it was an off day for the person helping me or maybe the things happening in the world right now we're very stressful- I get it and don't want them to be reprimanded. I don't know if I will be purchasing a new different shoe at least in this location-I may go to one that has more options in my size that gives me more thorough help. read more

Came in before the pandemic, let them know I was a non-runner interested in taking it up. I asked for their help in picking the best shoe for my foot/body/running plans and not to worry about the color or price, I simply wanted a good fit. I forget the man's name (Pablo perhaps?) who helped but he was terrific and thorough. He scanned my feet, observed me run on the treadmill, listened then brought a the range of 3 shoes to try. Boy were they different! One pair clearly seemed best on the treadmill. He inserted superfeet copper insoles for my flat feet and those felt amazing. In addition I asked for, and he provided, three basic tips for me as a novice runner. I love the Mizunos I bought (afterwards I asked the price of the different models I had tried. The Mizunos were right in the middle, not the least nor the most expensive.) For the first month, I was having minor ankle pain after runs of more than a couple miles. I removed the superfeet insoles and replaced them with the stock ones. All has been fine since. I understand why he thought the superfeet insoles would be beneficial, but they were just the opposite. I wish I hadn't spent so much on them but I understand it's not easy to get everything right the first time. He hadn't pressured me at all to get them, simply explained why they might be good (and they felt great on the treadmill). Overall, great service. I'd recommend anyone new to running take advantage of the expertise and good service here. read more

I'm not a runner so I always approach gym shoe buying with a tiny bit o trepidation. I was happily surprised to be waited on by a grown-up woman and I didn't feel jerky at all. I also didn't feel awkward about asking for different color selections. Sometimes you go and they do a whole-if you were a real athlete you wouldn't care about the color-thing but I do not yet want shoes that look like they're ready for shuffle board. Used to be the local OP shoe store before owners decided to retire and Fleet Feet took the spot over. Anytime a new business comes into Oak Park, it's a pretty big deal. Fleet feet is a chain but at least they kept the same similar feel to the place and you can still get fitted for brand new running shoes! Highly recommend going in and getting properly fitted. They also kept meet-ups here as well. OP running club meets and I think they have ladies fun run on Tuesdays. Plenty of parking just out front and it's right off the green line / Metra. read more

Everyone at this store is very knowledgeable about various shoes and are able to make an accurate shoe rec. They are able to assess your gait and are able to do a running analysis to help find the perfect shoe for you. Also- they have a cool foot scan that will educate you about your feet!! Super cool. I've been running in Nikes for a lifetime, but for the past few months I've had some issues with the shoes I've been wearing, quite literally rubbing me the wrong way. Suzanne offered me a few different shoes, all of which addressed that tightness issue I identified. She couldn't have been more helpful and supportive - and I ended up with shoes that seem to work well. She told me to come back if they don't work out as FF stands behind their work. I've never been in the store before, but I understand the fitting process. I wasn't in a rush, but I also was happy to find that there was only one person being helped when I walked in. However, after browsing the shoes for about five minutes, waiting for an associate, I still hadn't been helped or acknowledged. Again, not a big deal. But when two groups of people enter after me and they are both almost immediately greeted and helped, I was a little annoyed. As I'm starting to leave, one of the salespeople offered to give me a number and said it would probably be about a 15 minute wait. I politely declined. They were super nice and service was fast. The girl took a genuine interest in fitting me for the right shoes. Fittings are free, involve a machine to determine the dimensions of your feet, a short treadmill run (10 seconds) and trying on multiple pairs of shoes to ensure the fit is perfect. They take into account your style of running (which they see on the treadmill) and help to get shoes to correct any oddities. It was a great experience and I highly recommend this place! read more

The staff was extremely attentive and patient. I was getting fitted for new running shoes and Kristin spent over an hour helping me, making sure I got the right pair. She was extraordinarily knowledgeable and never seemed annoyed or frustrated when I asked a million questions. There were other customers in the store, and they were being helped by other staff members. She never tried to rush me or get me to make a decision quicker. Hire someone other than teenagers who don't know anything and don't listen. A month ago I walked out of here after I asked for a size 9 and the kid insisted on fitting me and brought me 9 1/2 because that was the size of the "neutral shoe." Wasted time - I went and spent my money at a different store. That other store doesn't sell men's shoes, which is why my husband came here today, but while the kid recommended an insert, he recommended the wrong type and I'm the one who had to explain the difference to my flat-footed husband (he needed a different height.)
