Wow this company really doesn't seem to care about their reviews clearly, their biz, or customers. On hold as I write this for over an hr. After 3 guys came out nothing was done, yet they say their is an issue at my house. Each guy says he needs to call another guy which says he doesn't have the bait with him? Is this a joke?! My roommate and I discovered bedbugs in our apartment. Our landlord refused to do anything, so we paid for the services ourselves. Four treatments and $2000 later, we still have bedbugs. We initially weren't going to do all four treatments, but our technician said if we did, then if bugs were still present afterwards, we'd get a free follow up treatment. We called to arrange for that follow up and we were told that their work wasn't guaranteed, so all they would do for free is another inspection. We'd have to shell out $450 if we want another treatment. My roommate and I were told one thing by the technician and by the guy who did our initial inspection and the company has gone back on its promise. $2000 wasted. read more

Have used this company in the past with decent results. Unfortunately, I recently entered into two service contracts and have been extremely underwhelmed by their performance. Was never notified of their most recent visit so have to rely on their word that spray was applied. Some interior sticky traps inside my home have never been checked. The worst issue is a letter from a collection agency for an outstanding balance which could have been cleared up very easily. They claim they don't have my email, yet used it for the original contracts without ever mailing a hard copy. This company is now ORKIN. They are no longer a local company and treat customers very poorly. SAD! I wish I had read the other Yelp reviews prior to attempting to work with "Craig Thomas Pest Control". My wife was experiencing bug bites. We feared it was bedbugs and called Thomas Pest Control. Their guy came at the scheduled time and thoroughly examined the bedroom/bed. I helped him take off the sheets, mattress, box springs. He spoke continuously about what he was looking for and what he was seeing. We had just moved into the house 8 weeks prior and had been experiencing bites since then (we bought the house furnished). He pointed out that in that time, even a single bed bug would have reproduced hundreds of times. Under intense light he saw no exoskeleton casings, or blood or any other sign of bed bugs. He explained that they aren't small and not hard to see if the place it truly infested. He was courteous and completely professional. It is great to have a vendor that doesn't feel compelled to find a problem. The inspection was free and we will shift our focus to mosquitos. read more

What a rip off!!! We had a mouse problem and put down some "no see traps". After a few weeks we thought of getting some help, so we called Craig Thomas. WHAT A MISTAKE! The salesman lied about the start up cost and told us $70 a visit. Come to find out that's a $325 start up fee. A tech came to the house and was rude and kept saying "women can't handle this stuff". He had me move my stove out and did a sloppy job of leaving the copper mesh sticking out of the hole. Now I'm and the service field myself, one you never ask the customer for help and two keep you beliefs to yourself. He put glue trap and wooden trap all around my kitchen in open, easy to see areas including my cabinets. Plus poison behind my dog food ...which if I'm not mistaken mouse poison is a blood thinner and makes mice thirsty. Therefore they would most likely try to drink out of my dogs water bowl........smart!! I called THAT DAY to cancel my service and had the pleasure of speaking to their pompous branch manager Anthony. I admit I greeted this guy with a very unsatisfied attitude, but when you tell me you are going to charge me close to $800 for $20 worth of home depot mouse traps and I have to remove the traps with the half dead mice on them myself or wait for the next visit I don't see how many people could be happy with this. I canceled the service with Anthony and told him I would pay $70 for the day and thought that would be it but he said he would just cancel the account. A few weeks later the office is calling me to schedule an appointment for saturday I told the lady on the phone (Christina) that I canceled the account. Later that night I received a call from my dear friend Anthoney the branch manager. He was a little nicer this time (must be the holidays) and thought he was doing me a favor and only charge me $150 for doing a half-ass job. So me, Mr. Jolly, decided to put my offer back on the table, $70 for the trouble of the tech coming out. Anthony didn't like this and told me he was going to send me to collection if I didn't pay. Where do I begin? This local pest control company which operates under the name Craig Thomas (Craig Thomas sold his business and his good reputation to these people a while back), is a complete and utter disappointment. From top to bottom this company is an embarrassment. Whether you would like to start with the person who leaves you on hold for ten minutes at a time, or the scheduling department that just sends exterminators out without an appointment to just show up at your house unexpectedly, they are a disaster. I can't completely shift all the blame on the person who answers phones, or the scheduling department. Let's not forget about the exterminator who did come over ONCE and walked around the house and neglected the attic which I originally called them for in the first place. If this isn't enough to make you run in the other direction, wait until you get to deal with their billing department. What a fiasco! After never sending a single billing invoice they called to ask why I have not submitted a payment to them. I told them that I was glad they called because I thought they forgot about me. I asked for a supervisor to call me to discuss my complete disappointment with their company. Did I get a call back? Of course not! Just a letter from a debt collection agency demanding payment for their inadequate service (I remind you- I never received one billing invoice from this schlock company!). Their extermination service is okay, but don't expect anything approaching quality customer service if an issue arises! When I raised an issue that they'd been dialing the wrong number to arrange appointments for several months, their only response wss: "Well, it's fixed now." When pressed it was made clear they had no intention of doing anything to make their gross negligence right, became argumentative, before finally initiating personal attacks and closing the phone. Started using Craig Thomas 20 years ago for carpenter bees in the highest eaves of a three story home. Everything went well until recently. Past several years, the spraying has been hit or miss. Some techs only spray the low parts and not the entire house. Have a nest of carpenter bees now in my wooden house and appears that area has never been treated. The original area required a long sprayer being so high, some tech told me it was extra. Now the billing has changed. Pushing for automatic payment providing a CC on file. Don't want to do that so now get notice that payment is late with dunning notice. Very unhappy with this company. No one should be forced to provide automatic payment info if they choose not too, just because company is trying to cut costs on admin. This company is supposed to be the expert and the service has gone down hill. Notes in account seem to be inconsistent. As soon as the season is over, will be looking for a different company. read more

Do not use Craig Thomas Pest Control. I hired Orkin upon moving to the area because we had a severe problem with spiders, wasps, and carpenter ants. I picked Orkin because of their fabulous customer service. All went well for a while... Until Orkin apparently bought out Craig Thomas, and then I was required to contact Craig Thomas directly for service. With this switch, came a new technician and the worst customer service I have ever encountered. I tried canceling my service. I was told it was cancelled until I got a bill in the mail. I called again and was told it was cancelled, and then said technician came knocking on the door. This process continues to repeat itself. Every couple of months we get a call that they are coming, I call to say we cancelled months ago, they say it is cancelled, then the knock on the door from the creepy looking guy comes again. I am not sure if they are ever going to officially cancel my account, or get this matter fixed. I am deathly afraid of spiders, and yet, I am left dealing with them myself... And to top it off, dealing with this chaos: aka Craig Thomas Pest Control. read more

Discovered carpenter ants --- eeeeek!! Years of hard work remodeling going to sawdust?? Called them because of their commercial claim of being environmentally friendly. Guy showed up, was very knowledgeable and explained the procedure to my husband (I was at work). He went around the house, then went outside. Seems he sprayed the foundation of our house and garage, and then noticed he had sprayed MY NEW HERB GARDEN THAT WAS JUST PLANTED THAT SPRING. Didn't recognize the plants, saw some marigolds, so squirt, there it goes... He was good enough to report it immediately (with huge apologies) to my husband who called me. I called the main office furious about this. Left a message I thought would never be returned - wrong. Manager called, apologized, and wanted to know what they could do. I gave an approximation of how much the garden cost, and they offered three free months of service (we had purchased a year's contract because of the pesky ants). They have stood by their promise. They are very professional. My gripes? They should have told us immediately that what they use for the ants is NOT environmentally friendly, it is poison. I called them assuming (you know what that does!) that all of their products were safe, and i was wrong. And, of course, we have to wait til next year to enjoy the perennial herbs that were doused with toxin. read more

Actually killed my dog. The first tech was very conservative when he saw that I had elderly pets. And his approach worked. I did not see one more rodent or rodent dropping. The second spraying around, the guy sprayed, I guess he was very aggressive. Within hours my dog started coughing and choking. I didn't connect it to Craig Thomas spraying at first, didn't think about it since there was a spraying two month earlier with no issues. By the evening my dog was choking and gasping for air with foam coming from her mouth. I took her to the all night emergency clinic and there was nothing that could be done. My baby is now in heaven. Do not use. We had problems with ants and mice is our house. Two workers came out and did their initial work, closing holes in the house and placing traps. They were at our house for almost 3 hours. When done they said that this service should take care of the majority of your problems, and the other times they come out will be just to make sure they were totally gone. This fist service cost $275. That night we found mouse droppings in one of our kitchen drawers. The same thing the next night and the next. Finally we set up a trap we got from Home Depot and caught the mouse ourselves. While this was going on we kept seeing ants all over the house. We figured it was because they didn't get to any of the chemicals that were supposed to around the house. This went of for two weeks until we decided to call them and tell them the situation. They had the same guy come out and he re-sprayed supposedly and looked again for holes where they might be coming in. He also said that we would not be charged for this service because it was part of the original service. Of course we still had ants around the house, no different than before and of course a few days later are credit card was charged for $178. When we called the receptionist said the service guy gave us the wrong information and the we should have done a monthly service instead of a quarterly if we were having such problems. We said it only been two weeks since he first came out and our problem is no different if not worse. She said, well, sorry to hear that. We told her to cancel our service. I have been a customer of Craig Thomas Pest Control since March 2010. I have always been pleased with their service - until now. Whoever took over this business has brought it downhill. For 7 years, I received service every 3 months - Mar, Jun, Sep, Dec. In Mar of 2017, I had to cancel my service as we had a big snowstorm and the tech would not be able to do anything around the foundation nor get to my crawl space or shed to refill the mice bait traps. The person I spoke with said that they would wait til the snow was gone and she mentioned coming in April. It's now May and I've heard nothing but I "assumed" that they were waiting til the next regular visit in June. Well I've been seeing a lot of ants and flies so I called to move up the appointment. I was told that their notes show that I did speak with a representative in March about cancelling due to snow but they also have a note that I spoke to someone named Dan and that I cancelled my account. I NEVER spoke to a Dan nor cancelled my account - why would I? I was told that because my account was closed, I would have to start over. This closing was not done by me so why should I have to start over and pay new fees? The representative said that she would send the information that I gave her to the service manager to see if my account could be reopened. She just called me back and informed me that I would have to be an on-demand customer and pay $150 per visit!!!! I was paying $100 + $8 tax each month since 2010 and now I should pay $150???? I asked her why and she said because I refused numerous appointments....huh? I cancelled/postponed once in March due to snow and never heard about a rescheduled appointment after the snow. I am so very disappointed with whoever took over this company. I have been a long standing customer and this is a pathetic way to be treated. Avoid signing a contract with Craig Thomas. Since they were purchased by Orkin their only mission seems to be to to get signed contracts, with no regard for actual service and working cooperatively with the customer. We were told our warrantee was void because we missed a service appointment. However, they never told us about the timing of the service call. They just showed up without any consultation or advance notice. . When we got a call the next day, we were told that they "populate " their service schedule and do not consult first with the customer. Just plain outrageous. read more

THIS BUSINESS IS AWFUL! I had a squirrel problem that was limited to one small corner of my roof. Their representative arrived at my house on schedule and identified the problem but then tried selling me other services. The representative told me I would be charged over ONE THOUSAND dollars for the initial visit with three follow up visits with the holes created by the squirrels to be plugged up on the final visit. That seemed like WAY too much money to me but I figured I would be getting excellent service in exchange for that price. I found out later that their representative simply placed a one way trap over a single hole and came by my house three times to check the trap. They never caught anything because the squirrel was clearly out of the hole when they set up the trap. They set up other traps on the roof but that didn't work either. I was assuming they would have used a two way trap or at least taken the trap on and off the hole a few times to ensure they captured the squirrel. Instead they appeared to me to put the minimal effort into trapping the squirrel. On their last day they plugged up the hole and of course once they were gone the squirrel just chewed another hole. I should have read the other poor reviews online before incurring this expense. Instead I learned an important lesson on checking online reviews and asking more specifically what services would be provided before committing to an expense. I would STRONGLY recommend against anyone ever using this company. My experience has been consistent with the other negative reviews on yelp. read more

Just cancelled our service after years of previously good service. In the past when it was still owned by Craig Thomas it was wonderful. We have had the the same tech for years. Just recently the decided that they were going to switch our tech. The new tech didn't do half of the service, couldn't be bothered to find our traps (no list provided), and the office was awful about it. Called back and requested old tech. They refused and got pretty nasty. Said they would "check with scheduling" and get back to us. Just called up and come to find out that the person who told us that WAS the scheduler and they out and out lied to us. Have now cancelled the service. For the amount they charge, they have started treating their customers like garbage. read more

I spoke to a very nice lady at Orkin who offered a great deal of assistance, gave me a reasonable quote and an appointment for the next day. Half an hour later, I got a call telling me that I was given an inaccurate quote and to make matters worse they then told me that they could not honor the appointment. If this wasn't an important matter I wouldn't have asked. The gentleman I spoke to at Craig Thomas was very off putting and not very helpful at all. I am a reasonable person and rarely write a negative review. But I was just put off by the whole experience. I would go with another company as I had a feeling they were going to try to squeeze more money out of me just because this was an emergency. read more

Overall, this is a waste of $60 a month. Go buy yourself some glue traps and put them out because that's about all they do anyway. They come once a month and go in my basement and take readings on pest activity and record it, but don't do much else. I give 2 stars because the particular technician I got did seek out pest entry points and plug them up with copper mesh and is generally a nice guy. But the overlall experience with the company has been bad (even the afforementioned tech said to me once "they don't know what the hell they're doing over there", meaning the office people). For example: I told them I'd be away for my regular appointment, and was assured that my appointment was changed, and then turns out the showed up on that day anyway, and were only able to do outside stuff. They have billed my credit card multiple times in a month (instead of once like they were supposed to) and then credited it back a few days later. When my usual tech was sick, no one called to notify me he would not be there that day. The next day they called to reschedule for a few days later. After that appointment, one week later someone showed up again (the appts are once a month). As another reviewer mentioned, it seems they just send them out without even telling you. When calling asked if I minded being placed on a brief hold and before I even had a chance to respond, they put me on hold and it was 10 mins before I hung up. I called back 2 times and I heard someone pick up, then hang up. I cancelled a couple weeks ago, but because of their track record, I was just calling to confirm that service really is cancelled, because I don't trust them to do their job correctly. We had a mice problem and took care of it ourselves - no more mice. We were told we had carpenter ants and it turned out that we didn't. They wanted to kill every other bug on the planet which is not necessary and ridiculous leave the bugs alone. They say they use harmless botanicals but even some of what they do use is harmful. Unbelievably poor service since acquired by Orkin - my second experience with an Orkin company and hopefully my last. Technicians seem OK but office staff are incompetent and rude. After having contractual routine service for years they suddenly stopped billing us and suspended our service for non-payment, more than once. When I expressed displeasure with the billing process after a few rounds I was told that for my own "stress management" I should probably go elsewhere. I tried to pay the open invoice and they lost the check, sent us to "collection", cancelled our account, and lost a second check when I tried again to pay. The first guy who inspected our home told us we needed a 12 month maintenance plan to get rid of the ants. Well, unfortunately, they have been coming for 8 months now and they say they are treating my home BUT THE ANTS ARE WORSE THAN EVER!!!!!!! Every time I call the office a lady named Kathy is HORRIBLE. She would talk over me and tell me that the increased activity is what I'm supposed to be seeing. I went and got a second opinion and found out that they should not be taking this long and if anything I should at least see a decrease NOT INCREASE IN ACTIVITY!! I also found out I didn't need a 12 month plan JUST for carpenter ants. They treat my house, or so they said, then they wouldn't call for another 2 months. They showed little to no effort to find the nest of ants. Not until I kept calling and complaining THEN they just started treating more frequent. I literally had to speak to the service manager to get SOMEWHERE. Now, my contract ends in nearly 3 months and if I still have ants I WILL NEVER CALL THIS COMPANY AGAIN IF THEY ARE THE LAST PEST CONTROL ON EARTH!!!!
