But once I got there, I saw they had all their paperwork clearly posted, and the people were warm, responsive, and genuinely caring. They took the cats in without hesitation and made sure everything was done properly. It ended up being a really positive experience, and I felt safe leaving the animals in their care. They're clearly doing good work for animals in need, and I think they deserve community support and donations to keep going.

I once lived in a bountiful where an immense freezer could be filled with earth's goodness of vegetables and fruits for a small expense in miles and cash. Not that easy in Arizona. The freezer was donated to St. Mary's - and welcomed. We keep our pantry stocked. When the "Best By" dates geow near on pantry goods, they are donated to St. Mary's and refreshed. I want to contribute quality to those less blessed than I have been. And, St. Mary's, being a religious organization charity, blesses families, and individuals with the foundation of living - food. Case worker Nokia would not return calls or address our concerns . The place was poorly run at best. One major issue I had was employees taking things donations that were to go to residents. This included food clothes and purses. Yes many of the donated bags went to employees. The receptionist Jasmine liked to show off her Micheal Kors bag she was"Given". I wonder how the ladies who gave their bags would feel if they knew the employees now had them and no donation was.given to those in need.

This 43rd Ave and Indian School location is beginning to acheive the patina of a veteran HfH. Early on.it was mostly cleared inventory from states and warehouses. Now the cool old used stuff is getting donated. Fun. Useful. Savings. A gamble. The staff is always superb.

Had a volunteer day recently with 50 of my work colleagues and was absolutely blown away by this…read moreplace! First of all, I understand the need for food banks--the last statistic I heard is that 1 in 3 children goes hungry here in Maricopa County. That fact is heart breaking and I know that there are a lot of generous folks out there who contribute via the postal drive, food drives, and other methods. What I DIDN'T know was how the process worked; how the food was distributed and how clients were notified. Our little team bagged over 25 tons of food, hygiene items, and kibble in 6 hours and it was a huge undertaking that left me sore for the rest of the week ;) In meeting and talking with key staff members, I was so taken by their passion for this cause and by the respect shown to the folks they serve. Food insecurity is stressful enough without having one's dignity insulted and it did my heart good to see folks smiling as they selected the products going into their food boxes. They had personal shoppers AND got their groceries unloaded for them too. Desert Mission also partners with Crooked Sky Farms to introduce fresh produce into the mix. There were some gorgeous veggies available, along with treats for the little folks. All in all, it was a really eye opening experience. I am already looking for other ways I can help the deserving organization. Check them out!

I have never been more humiliated in all my life than I was today at approximately 11:05AM! After…read moreshowing great concern about a young child that was clearly not being supervised by an adult, I was denied a food box. I was denied by the supervisor stating that I had already received food twice this month. I am NOT a food stamp recipient, in fact I was on the phone with DES at the time that I was called up and informed him of that fact. I am attempting to help my family any way I can. The supervisor denied us even an emergency food box. The heartless guy referred me to St. Mary's Food Bank which is many miles away from Desert Mission (where I was after having waited in line), even more miles away from my home. End result, I was unable to drive the extra 10+ miles to get to St. Mary's. I have very little gas, absolutely no money and a bald tire (very unsafe to make that trip). My family will go hungry this evening and this completely unacceptable. If the option of ZERO stars were available, that's what my review would firmly be after this inappropriate conduct.

I'm here giving a review on behalf of a sister in Christ who was failed by the system and is…read moregetting nothing better from what she's relaying to me. She grew up in homeless shelters and group homes from all over Arizona since she was about 7 years old. Her mental health was incredibly damaged and she was unable to finish school due to learning disabilities. From being forced to one home to the next and never receiving even an ounce of love and affection the way Christ would to the point where she landed in what I believe was a cult. This is where I met her. We got out together and began to seek Christ further together and she has been growing slowly and understanding more. She struggles sometimes and makes mistakes and doesn't understand sometimes. But in the time of her being at the dream center--she's worsened. Her faith has decreased and her mental health has as well. I've also discovered that some donations are meant to go to the women there but she has yet to receive anything or any help at all with finding work, re-applying for school, relearning basic life skills, and recovering in full. It became bad when she felt the need to sneak her phone back to reach me rather than use the phones so she can open up--to which, of course, I corrected her one as her sister in Christ. It's ever right to do things like that no matter the circumstance. But doing that led to her being placed outside in the dark alone with her phone on low battery and strange men passing by and making her uncomfortable for nearly 2 hours. When asked if she could come back inside and give back her phone so she can go to bed and feel safer, she was told to wait out there until 7 am. While outside, she was tempted to wander off alone away from the center even with the men giving her creepy looks and peeking around corners at her. The staff stood by and looked out at her and continued to talk as she stood at the door until she knocked to be met with another "7 am." This is what began to boil my blood. I hadn't heard of the place before but when I looked it up I was shocked to find that they're centered around rescuing women off the streets and preventing trafficking and providing care for those they welcome in. But to hear that they willingly put out a struggling 18-year-old with depression and a dwindling faith as a Christ-centered community and home for young women--it strikes a different cord. Upon getting there, I found out that she discovered some...odd conditions. Such as bugs and mold. But none of that truly matters because it's a roof over her head and clothes on her back as well as food for your belly. And I encourage her to be grateful for the things that God places in front of us. But it's hard to encourage her if she cant call me even from the phones there due to restrictions let alone be able to feel confident that she is in good Christ-loving hands. I just continue to pray that God guides her steps and places a hedge of protection over her. I may only have one side of things but the things I'm hearing don't settle well in my stomach or my heart...I pray that those in the center are able to express more compassion towards the people they bring in. Especially young women who don't have many people to depend on outside of Christ...God will provide. God bless you and I hope that things improve with this place. Im still gonna continue to raise money for her to get her back on track, God willing.

This ministry is a wonderful refuge for women who are seeking shelter and a long term place to get…read moreback on their feet. It is safe and secure with security guard and strict clearance for visitors. My friend has been staying there for three months since having the worst summer ever. Now she has opportunity to be surrounded by a caring, professional community conducive to her recovery and stabilization. She has a healthy daily routine that includes medication management, Bible study, counseling, meals, and on campus work. I highly recommend Phoenix Rescue Mission Changing Lives Center for women.
