This is disappointing because the center has so much potential and has historically provided a positive environment. I had the…read moreopportunity to model for some life drawing sessions of the art class offered in the center and was impressed by the facilities and activities offered to seniors who avail of the Center's services. The Center has a beautiful common social area, a well-equipped gym, and a classroom for language, art, and other classes and social activities. The staff is very friendly and helpful and they make sure that covid precautions are taken (masks are mandatory regardless of vaxx status) in light of the fact that seniors are a vulnerable subset of the population.

They do not honor payment agreements and will relentlessly pursue additional charges, citing "human error." They will also discriminate against your child. They fail to issue refunds despite having promised to do so. Not only was I thanked in person, but they sent me a nice note in the mail as well! The Dysart Community Center offers GED classes, ESL classes, parenting classes, and after-school care for kids. It also has a fun summer camp as well. The people here really do care about making a difference in the community and it's refreshing to meet with people who maintain that passion despite the day in-day out grind. Been a while since I reviewed the MVCC and a lot has happened, so an update is in order. None of…read morethe changes are good and I'll keep it brief. -Equipment is not being kept up and management says the budget doesn't allow for proper upkeep. -Management has changed...for the worse. The employees here, like Amy, are generally cool, but the manager is, shall we say, not a very service-oriented individual. Expect to be kicked out of the center 15 minutes before the advertised close time, so staff can have doors locked and be driving away at precisely close time. -Personal trainer's hours were cut back. Pat is a great asset to the Center, but her hours were scaled back recently so it's harder to benefit from working with her. When asked about fixing the equipment and restoring Pat's hours, the manager said dues would have to be raised to do so. "The money's just not there." Now that there's a great Planet Fitness just around the corner that only charges $10/month with brand new equipment, the MVCC has become irrelevant. The cool "local gym" vibe is tarnished by the staff's indifference and poorly maintained equipment. As much as I've enjoyed using this gym and love the people who work out here, it just doesn't make sense to continue my membership. Incidentally, the Rabinos still have a Shito Kai karate dojo here and the expert instruction they offer our kids DOES bring us back. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Providing a variety of services to the Maryvale community, this center is in one of the most…read moreeconomically challenged areas in the Valley. They were kind enough to let an org we volunteer with use their car park to feed hot meals, and deliver snacks, drinks, hygiene, pet supplies, and clothing to the less fortunate. It is an impressive facility offering a variety of programs and activities, they have a basketball court, a Healthmobile, and one of my favorite groups is for Grandparents who are raising their grandkids; they meet once a month for the adults to socialize, and the kids to play and engage in other activities. Was very impressed with the facility and the staff, the local Councilwoman came out to help us serve. We look forward to further collaboration with our neighbors in need.

I am super irritated with the service my mom received. My mother is on Medicare, during a visit to…read morean urgent care we were told to visit them so they can help her out to get the most benefits and the lady said she used to work there and that they were super nice. Well, I could have helped my mom just fill out the papers she needed to be fully covered but chose to let her go to this place since they are experts. Big mistake. The lady that helped her kept telling my mom that her parents never asked for anything and that they worked all her life. I won't go into too much details but she made her feel like she was doing something wrong. She came home crying saying she shouldn't of applied for anything. To top it off the lady sent in her ahcccs application without a signature which only delayed her process. Very irritated. So much for being a community center.
