Upon arrival, I saw many teens partaking in playing pool, practicing various instruments, socializing, & just having a good time. It's great that they have this amazing place to hang out, enjoy music & games, & keep themselves in check & out of trouble. Instruments are donated from local musicians & companies such as Milano Music, Taco Bell, & Guitar Center, as well as Alice Cooper & many of his fellow musicians & friends. Our organization, Phoenix Area Drummers, also donates to this organization. This place is full of awesome music memorabilia. There are many rooms here for teens & adults to hang out in. Teens can practice instruments at their leisure & get lessons as well. Tip: There are 3 locations (North Phoenix, Mesa, Goodyear) & I hear there is a 4th location in the works (Prescott)

EVMC has a 94-bed shelter that provides comprehensive programs and strategies for each resident. For many men facing challenges because of past substance abuse, criminal involvement, life changing events or simply a long life on the streets, it means a long road back and that journey starts here. EVMC does pre-screened of potential residents before enrollment. They are asked to be candid about the problems that resulted in their homelessness. Once at the facility, EVMC staff ensure that each resident comply with established rules. During their stay, all residents must work full-time and save 85% of their income. Some area churches has given bicycles, reflectors, helmet to help residents travel to these jobs. A New Leaf and EVMC believes that the key to success for the residents in re-entering society is providing life skills training, work assistance, counseling, socialization skills, food, basic needs and shelter. There are also Case Managers who work individually with residents to set personal goals and address their barriers in becoming productive and contributing members of society. Basically you need to stay sober, respect your house mates and keep the house clean because it is your home. I really commend Generations Co-Housing being a wonderful place.

It's not affordable. The weekly rate is $225 per person. For a couple, it would cost $1,200 for a…read moreroom. The cost of a fair 1 bedroom apartment in a fair part of the town costs about that much. There is a small fraction of a discount that's deducted from the weekly rent, only if you attend each of the five 3 hour therapy sessions and complete 24 hours of chores outside of the house, such as yardwork, excluding assigned chores for the common areas of the house. You're immediately signed up for private insurance and there is a possibility of losing your Medicaid benefits, as a result of being enrolled. Then, you're enrolled with a new private insurance company every few months, once the benefits are exhausted. And if you manage to keep your Medicaid benefits, they probably use it as a secondary insurance and bill it too. Also, there is no help with transportation and some of the homes are not in proximity to public transportation routes. And there isn't any help with finding employment. You're on your own in finding employment. And within a week and a half, regardless of circumstances, you're highly pressured, like feet to the fire, to have employment and begin paying rent. If you're unable to find employment, then you're given the standard line that Generation's Co-housing is unable to provide the level of service you're required and you have to find someplace else to transition to or arrange for a Veyo to CBI.
