I'm mad at myself that I haven't been to Crafty Crab until now! How shocked I was that this local joint packed so much flavor and met all my seafood boil expectations. I was thinking it wouldn't. Upon entering, I waited for a host to come up and see that I walked in. I was seated after a few minutes but the server didn't actually come up to me and take my order until 10-15 minutes later. Knowing that she was late, she came over and apologized for her delay. It was quite a wait but the food made up for it. I ordered 2lbs of crawfish at $12.99/lb and mixed two flavors, cajun and garlic butter. I asked for all corn instead of potato and I have no regrets. I could not get enough of their corn. For my seafood boil lovers you will get a kick out of this place. It's a decent amount of food for a reasonable price. On the weekends they have a live DJ later in the night, and happy hour as well. We were able to get a 3 drink special that were half off! The customer service was really good, I had to compliment the waiter on his promptness and attention to detail. The restaurant opens at 3 PM. We found out the hard way because we went there for a late lunch and arrived at 2:30 PM. Don't let the Open sign fool you like it did us. The doors opened exactly at 3:00 PM. We both had Seafood Boils: one with 1 lb. Headless Shrimp, Boiled Egg, and Potato with Very Mild Spices; the other with Headless Shrimp and Crawfish (upcharge to add the Crawfish) and Corn with the Boom Spices (combination of Buttery Garlic, Lemon Pepper, and Crafty Cajun spice mixes). The meals came steamed in plastic bags accompanied with a bib, gloves, handiwipes, and a pail for the discards. They serve plump shrimp and large crawfish. The seasoning is outstanding. We went in with limited expectations & left very pleased. Our server was great. She took the time to walk us through the menu. After listening to what we wanted, she suggested a terrific seafood platter. We were able to specify the sauce we wanted along with the level of heat. You can also select the different items you want and they will make you a custom boil too. Everything was so good. They have this down to a science & provide you with all the tools you need. The table is covered with paper and they provide a roll of paper towels on the table + a bucket for shells and trash. The place was comfortable inside however my only complaint was they sat everybody right on top of each other even though there was plenty of room to spread out. Food: my husband and I shared a 1 lb steamed Crab & Shrimp seafood boil bag and added 2 lobster tails. This was enough food for us along with our 7 year old as the meals came with corn on the cob and potatoes. You have an option of 4 seasonings to choose from (garlic butter, crafty crab, lemon + pepper, or a mix of all 3). Then you get to decide how spicy you want the flavor. We enjoyed the shrimp the most and the crab was hard to crack as we were provided with plastic silverware and eventually asked for crab crackers to get to the meat. The lobster tails came out curled and cracked in half for easy removal. The flavor was on point, and we enjoyed the steamed bags. Price: like most seafood, it is market price. I feel like it is comparable to other seafood places around. Service: our server was a hoot lol we enjoyed talking to her, but we told her it was our 1st visit and asked for recommendations but she said she only eats the shrimp and wasn't very enthusiastic about seafood. Close friend told us about Crafty Crab, we've been back about 3-4 within the last couple months. The staff is really nice. We had the same waitress twice and she remembered us. The Cajun seasoning for the seafood boil is goood. They give you a good amount of everything so that was nice. Mozzarella sticks were nice and thick so that was nice. Calamari was on point. We also got tenders and wings. I wouldn't get those again but it was nice to have that option because one of my kids doesn't eat seafood. On first inspection I had more food than I thought I should have received. But once I got it home and plated the quality was average at best. Crawfish tasted frozen even though we are currently in crawfish season. No clue if the crawfish is coming from farms or local sources. The season was great but some pieces from didn't feel as fresh as others. Then when biting into the eggs there was an extremely thick grey ring around yolk. I usually order "the boom" sauce mild with headless shrimp, clams, and craw fish. Don't forget to add the extra corn! This place is seriously tasty. The service is usually pretty good. I have had a couple times when it was spotty but it was busy. The music in the establishment can be loud and some what annoying at times. Other then these few things, Crafty Crab is a must. We came starving for dinner on a Saturday evening around 7:30 pm. The shopping center this place is in is nice. The location is nice, brightly lit, and has plenty of parking. It's close to 95, so that's convenient when you're not from around here. First of all, there was a love DJ playing very loud music when we came in. I mean, unnecessarily loud for a dinner crowd, and it wasn't like he was playing easy listening music. Club-level hip-hop should really be reserved for the after 10 crowd. It was hard to have a conversation. The service was good, not great. Our service was friendly but our stuff took a few extra minutes to come out. We ordered hush puppies, calamari, shrimp basket for 2 little ones, the lobster special, and a 1/2 pound snow crab & shrimp boils. Hush puppies were really good, not too big. Calamari was crispy and seasoned well, not too salty. The shrimp basket was a good portion & tasty, so no complaints at all. A little warning that the cocktail sauce is a little spicier than the normal. I liked it, but if you're kids aren't used to spicy, beware. Now the boils! Holy cow! I've never eaten in but have gotten take out more times than I can count. I always order their crab boils. This time I had the Dungeness Special. This boil could feed two people but if you are obsessed with crab boils then this is only for you lol. I love everything in the bags except the sausages. I have to add eggs in order for me to enjoy them or I'll just give them away. I have substituted the sausages for an extra corn before. Depends on who take your order because I find that some people say you can't sub them and some say you can and some say it'll be an up charge so I don't know exactly what the location policy is. Service can only be described as painful. After hearing a new seafood joint had recently opened in our neighborhood and tiring of our usual spots, we decided that my birthday would be a great excuse to get together and try the Crafty Crab on a Saturday night. Upon arriving, my family put our name in and notified the hostess that it was my birthday and that they'd like him/her to bring me cake at the end of the meal to celebrate. The ambiance was great and we were seated fairly quickly. It all went downhill from there. First, despite what looked like a great draft menu, it turns out they don't yet have ANYTHING on draft. Well enough. Once we got our drinks sorted, myself and a friend ordered the snow crab, others at my table ordered the crawfish and Dungeness crab. Food came out fairly quickly considering the place was full and we received more straws than anyone could ever use, but we waited an extraordinary amount of time to get silverware and when we did finally get it, there weren't any of the tiny forks that are useful when eating seafood --especially when it's overcooked... On that note, the crab was way overdone so it was almost impossible to remove from the shell. And their house seasoning (Cajun) was nothing to write home about. We decided, while eating these 'one-size-fits-all' seafood and potatoes boiled in plastic bags that you shouldn't try to improve on Old Bay and butter and found ourselves wishing we'd smugggled some in. Then there was the service--or should I say lack of service? Once we got the food, we never saw the waiter again until the manager came by to "see how everything was" so we asked him to find our waiter and rattled off everything we were waiting on (refills, silverware, etc, etc) The piece de resistance came when the waiter finally brought the bill. Rather than leave us to complete our tips and come back for the check he handed them to us and waited for us to complete our tips in front of him before collecting them again. Considering how bad our service was, and how he'd been invisible all night, that left us with a bad taste in our mouths. He could have used that time to grab my birthday cake. But that request--like so many of our requests all night--had gone clearly ignored. But by then we just wanted out of there. So we headed to Carvel for ice cream instead. We won't be back--if you like seafood, I suggest you skip this one. If you're that desperate for seafood, Publix is right next store and they will steam a fresh lobster for you right there.
