I got married September 2017 at the Douglas Beach House in Half Moon Bay. I was looking for a local venue that was flexible with outside drinks & caterers. Joy & the Event Saavy team were listed as the preferred caterer. I had no intention of going with the preferred option but after one conversation with Joy & a tasting of her food, we felt like we hit the jackpot. (p.s. she's a total dog lover and she hung out with our pup out in the patio for a while) All throughout the planning process, Joy was quick at answering any of my questions. Her confidence and experience eased any worries I may have had (wedding planning got a bit overwhelming at times). She also offered other tips and tricks to assist with the reception planning. Based off of my guest count and vision, she handled all the seating layout and the overall "flow" of the event. It was important for Joy to have the menu not only be top of the line, but also a reflection of my husband and I's style. A small example of this is Joy including little delectable cheesesteak bites with soft bread and melted cheese in the appetizer menu because my husband and I met at a Philly cheesesteak shop. Super cute...and tasty! I love how Joy takes pride in using the freshest, organic & sustainable veggies and meats from local farmers. Multiple guests approached me to comment on how fresh and incredibly delicious the food was! There was so much food, that Joy boxed up the leftovers so my husband and I could take the rest on our honeymoon road trip and share with family. We were eating good! From Joy's kindness & exceptional food, to the charismatic, fun bartender, to the personable and extremely attentive wait staff, I was impressed with every person's positivity, professionalism, & work ethic. Did I mention that included was a day-of wedding planner? She was kind, effective and kept the event running in the background like a well-oiled machine. Joy knows how to choose her team. What is crazy is that Event Saavy's catering service felt like the fanciest of the fancy but in terms of pricing, it was the most reasonable option I came across. My price included appetizers, dinner menus, china, glassware, chairs, the staff (even the bartender that served the alcohol we bought from Costco) & the day-of planner. For our reception, we went with the buffet style layout. The presentation was lovely. As I'm sure you've gathered by now, Joy & Event Saavy honestly left an impression with me. I hope she is successful in everything she does and I hope to use her services in all my future events.

I cannot express how happy I was with Just Us. I met with Debbie and Hannah (the owners) a week before the reception to review the site, menu plan, etc. The ideas they had were great. The selection of chairs, table and linens was excellent including just the perfect shade of pink. They handled everything the day of the reception. They coordinated the rentals, set up tables, moved furniture, added flowers and the food was picture perfect on tables along the garden patio. And of course, the food!! We decided on finger food items that people could mingle and munch on while chatting. The fruit skewers were so fresh and sweet and the cinnamon yogurt dip was delicious. Turkey finger sandwiches were made special with an tasty cranberry chutney. The roll up sandwiches, Southwestern and Greek, were also wonderfully simple but with soooo much flavor. A variety of crackers were pared with two spreadable cheeses with the Roquefort and walnut spread being the favorite of many guests. And last, but definitely not least, was the desserts - chocolate truffle brownies, lemon bars and triple ginger cookies. The ginger cookies were light, tasty and paired wonderfully with coffee. It was apparent that all the food had been prepared fresh that morning and carefully transported and set up. The two wonderful hosts that were on site throughout the entire event were such a joy to share our day with. They hosted the beverage bar, continuously filled the buffet tables all while taking the time to check with each guest to make sure all was well. I would definitely hire Just Us Catering again. It was our pleasure working with them and thank them so much for making what could have been a stressful and hectic day anything but. I was able to attend our friend's memorial service across town without having to worry about the reception.. A true gift from Debbie and Hannah.

I had been to a couple of small parties at a friend's home who had used them and I found Martin to be very friendly and the food very good. The bride and the to be Mother-in-Law had pretty specific ideas of what they wanted for dinner. I worked with Cindi and we did several menu proposals before the tasting. They are very responsive and easy to work with. We did a tasting (took place in a small dining room off their kitchen/office in Burlingame) which was yummy. We went with Asian/Korean passed appetizers and a served meat/fish combo plate. He was very creative with the appetizers (kim chee eggrolls!) --- where as others I spoke to said they would just purchase the Korean food elsewhere and serve it. The bride & groom left the tasting very happy! The actual dinner went very smoothly. They were prompt, brought the tableware, linens and kiosk tables for the cocktail hour. The service during the appetizers and dinner was quick, very attentive. People raved about the food! Fresh and tasty.... simply delicious. The portions are generous and presented beautifully on the plate too. The only bummer was that they do not provide alcohol, but they do serve it. So it was one more thing for us to do (go to Costco and buy cases of booze) but at the same time, he doesn't charge a corking fee so it probably helped us save money. Martin is a good guy.
