You walk through a hall with a view of the kitchen to get to the main dining hall. Service was friendly and helpful. Dish timing was appropriate. 1. Farmer Peter's salad - delicious, fresh, olive shavings but did not have a strong taste; the taste was more the fruity vinaigrette 2. Sea bass - Very saucy, could use less sauce (as it was salty) but the fish itself was fresh, clean tasting, comes with carrots, perfectly crisp skin which was a nice compliment to the soft fish 3. Wow. Empty but Tessa was a star! Everything single item she suggested was perfect! Stated with Lobster bisque and went chicken with fries (omg) and ended with what she called fruit and nuts.... so much more. The octopus was epic as well and so was the German wine. Trust her!!! What with it being a former underground club owned by the renown "Cookie" Gindullis, its mysterious entrance, fame and ambiance are all calling cards for CRACKERS. It's a place to take any visitor to Berlin for that quirky Berlin feel, and the restaurant indeed is filled nightly with tourists. Perhaps it deserves 4 stars as a place to visit once. However, the food is just ok, service while friendly is distracted, and make sure you double check your reservation as twice I have reserved on the phone and nothing was in the system when I arrived. After a few visits the ambiance and quirkiness disappears, so I never go to Crackers, unless I have a visitor from out of town who wants to see it. And it is quite ok for that. One gets the feeling that management and the team are resting on accolades from years gone by. For price and experience there are many other places much better in Berlin (and this goes for the sister Michelin-starred (!) restaurant "Cookies" nearby). read more

I've been coming to this restaurant with some co-workers after work and it's always been a great place with good food and good vibes. The menu does change once in a while but overall The food here was delicious. We ordered the octopus, dry aged steak, fish and chips and the beef tartan and everything was out of this world. The dishes here are more on the pricier side, but it's worth it, and sometimes you get lucky without reservations, but I would highly recommend making one before coming! read more

Came here for a corporate team dinner and was pretty satisfied. The place itself has a pretty cool ambiance. The entrance is discrete and you walk directly through the kitchen first before entering the dining room. I thought it was pretty cool though and gave off those alternative Berlin vibes. I tried the white fish with caviar which was cooked to perfection. Everyone in my party of 8 people enjoyed their meal and the service was nice enough. Past its prime - need refurbishment (or a big drop in prices). In its current form, this is a bad deal. Three years ago on a weekday this place was pumping. Last night it was merely the shell of its past, with marks on the table, paint chipped off, fabric on seat worn off. There were very few people around to endure the monotonous music (Fri and Sat are the DJ nights but this pre-recorded stuff could really have been more ambitious). The 'signature' brioche and butter is a nice touch. The beef fillet quality was rather good (although medium should not be rare). The spinach with cream was tasty but the asparagus could have been younger. The barman is not an entertainer and his dark knight cocktail was average at best. I don't know why this place has such bad reviews. Crackers deservers 5 Michelin Stars, in my opinion. I ordered the fried chicken and it arrived soon enough. It was what we call chicken fingers in America. Or chicken strips. With julianned squash. It was kind of spicy, with some kind of mayo and sauce. It was a winner in my book. Despite the humble ingredients, the chef really shines. The bar service was excellent too. Best spicy mango drink I ever had. However, the accountant is going to kill the bartenders soon, if the keep forgetting to keep track of the patrons dribks. The cheesecake that I ordered was very good too. Cracker has a stylish interior and fairly high prices (forget dinner for less than €100 per person with wine). However, neither food quality nor service (which is notoriously sluggish) live up to the promise. The last two times I visited (and I will not return anymore) I was especially disappointed with the service which was unattentive and rude. Food was ok but at the price, I'd expect something more than what was delivered. A manager was nowhere to be found. If you like to have an enjoyable evening, there are several nice places in Berlin, you don't need to go to Cracker's. read more

If you like interesting entrances, this restaurant takes you through a street gate, down a short corridor leading to a bright yellow insect trap of a sign, through a sketchy door and under a well-placed neon sign into an impeccably tiled kitchen, then through another door into the main dining room. I think Crackers used to be or is connected to a nightclub - the decor and layout definitely felt like I was eating in a nicer version of one. We had a reservation and did have to wait at the bar for a bit upon check-in, despite the fact that there were a few open tables and they seated a group without a reservation right before us. Will say that the overstuffed seats were comfortable and the atmosphere was chill, though on a peak night I can see it going full-on Ibiza Club Playlist. The cocktails were good, but I ordered medium rare entrecôte that was almost mooing. The potato gratin and glazed carrots were both fine. I think the dessert (a simple cheesecake with berry compote) was really the only dish I felt was above-average. My dude was pleased his lamb chops. This restaurant tries to be trendy but they are about 10 - 15 years off (US perspective). It is, though, a cool space with the must have DJ(sarcasm). We decided to try a few apps and wine before deciding whether to have dinner. The waiter made it clear that we had a time limit and that we may not have time for dinner if we don't order right away (we told that we'd take our chances). The apps were fine, but uninspiring. The service was rough. For example, we asked for still water and they he started pouring sparking. We said, oh, sorry, we asked for still. I must say the interior is breathtaking despite what it was before for so many years. I was really excited to finally see the old cookies again. A friendly welcome and the waiter was right there with menus and sensed right away when to come back to get our orders. Pretty good cocktails so as the wine collection. The food, unfortunately, was just okay. Nothing to complain about sizes of appetizers and entrees, even the dessert was a good size portion. But here: the ceviche was very chewy, just hasn't sit long enough to cook through. The artichoke, you can't really f'up a artichoke, can you? The dips that came with it were excellent, especially the aioli. The Burrata was well prepared but here same as with the artichoke, what could you possibly do wrong with it? The braised lamb was an insult for my eyes. It had the texture of pulled pork pressed in to the shape of a brick. It could've also be straight out of the can. The fries had no taste of rosemary and the porcini mushroom flavor mayonnaise wasn't found. For dessert we chose rice pudding which had a perfect texture but was not sweet at all. Not even the salted caramel made it sweeter. Also, the waiter disappeared after food was served, left us with empty glasses and was busier with himself than with guests. All over cool spot but disappointing for a dinner night. I'm positive the quality of the food is excellent but hey Heinz! You should fire your chef! Just saying. Food: 3/5 Service: 4/5 Ambiance: 3/5 Overall disappointing, and could (probably will) be better. I really liked cookies (the club) and cookies cream, and was quite curious about this new venue in Berlin Mitte. We first got as starter the Tartar (one of the best I got so far - hand cut, delicious marinade and fried bread) and the Perch / Zander (which was OK, but not fantastic). Then for the main course, we gave a try to the Filet (medium) and Entrecote (rare): a classic that I use to benchmark restaurants. The Entrecote came - as often in Germany - medium (to my scale), and though I expected a quality of meat similar to the Tartar, quite disapointing: the meat tasted like a little liver and seemed rather boiled than cooked: wrong pan, wrong oil, or meat?!? Charolais beef if often exquisite, but I could not recognise any quality in the ordered Entrecote. Maybe the Charolais beefs, coming from Mecklenburg, should be sent to an internship in France first. The Entrecote was served on a variation of a pepper sauce and with "Steinpilzmayo" (charged extra), i.e. mushroom sauce. Both sauce were also nothing special. The wine (Merlot from the Pfalz) - as usually also in cookies cream - was excellent. For desert, I had a chocolate tarte with yoghurt ice-cream. If I correctly remember the deserts are very cheap (5 EUR?), but so was the taste of the tarte (traditional brownie and yoghurt icecream without any originality - except the presentation). They could increase their prices for desert, and improve them. Service was ok for Berlin (hectic hipsters with the memory of a goldfish running empty-handed to each other all the time, but friendly). Ambiance/atmosphere is a little posh blingbling (golden cutlery... really) and the interior design reflects a classic metropolitan city restaurant (London, New York). Prices are upscale (80 EUR / person with wine). I will come back, but mainly for the Tartar (currently listed as a starter) as a main course with French fries... read more
