I must confess that I was not expecting to be this good. After a walking tour around freezing Berlin, my (recent made) friends and I decided to grab a beer and a burger at this very interesting spot. It's not far from the u-bahn station, but you will notice that the street where it's located doesn't really have other locals businesses. We got in and the decor was stunning, something similar to a cool/hipsterish sports bar in America. All of us ordered burgers and beers and I can tell you that after the food arrived, also did the silence - no one spoke for about 10 minutes while they were eating. I don't understand why sexist crap should be a marketing strategy, let alone a 90s-style failed attempt at being funny. The menu was full of some pseudo angry teenager jokes that came out cheap and gratuitous. Rude waiter, what's up with the attitude dude?! Though got to say the other waiter (I assume he was Greek) was a sweetheart and on top of things. We had Nachos and Quesadillas which were nothing special and don't make up for the attitude and offensive stupidity in branding. I'll be fast and simple. The personal are awesome, friendly, which is very rare in Berlin but the food was just shitty. I ordered the firecracker burger and it looked super tasty and nice but was so Salty that I could not finish it. The fries were brown and to hard. This is a Texas influenced burger joint with a cosy atmosphere that brings you the "messed up Berlin trash look" against moroccan pillows, dim lights, and never too many candles. It is one of my favorite restaurant atmospheres actually, because you can easily stay here for hours after you finish off your meal, and then top off your glass with your poison of choice. For me, I recommend a beer, but their cocktails are slammin' too. Whatever, get an understated and hip drink, which matches the feel of the place. That means no freaking pina coladas. That's just a gross combination after stuffing your face with sexy burger juice. Of note: Hipsters with vintage glasses, your prescription really doesn't need an update. This place is not vegetarian friendly. Don't say a thing and don't have a cow. Seriously, just don't mess with Texas. Just accept it and move on. read more

I ended up here by mere coincidence....and i liked it. I had a beer and a HUGE Quakamole Burger and french fries. The french fries were nothing fancy, but the burger was pretty awesome. Typical burger joint which suppose to be sort of a known secret in Berlin. Sort of rundown place, but still charming in its own way (though the loo are awful, really, not clean and no soap...). Service was friendly, we had English waitress who was quite aloof but nonetheless charming. Regarding the burger: it is not "the best in town" but probably top 10 or 15. The home made chips were quite a nice surprise. Bottom line: if you're in Kreuzberg, and have burger craving, pay them a visit. read more

Giant burgers for a decent price. My husband and I came here a few weeks ago on a weekend night and it was packed! We ended up sitting outside despite the cold (I'm pretty sure the staff thought we were crazy) because they had nice outdoor seating and it was quieter. I didn't get a good look or feel for the interior atmosphere but it is definitely a popular spot and it seemed like there were big groups of friends hanging out, which is cool. They have a lot of burger options. It took me forever to decide but I ended up going with the peanut butter burger and my husband got one of the spicy burgers (I can't remember what it was called). The bartender/server guy was nice enough, not rude but clearly not trying to charm you. The burgers are very wide and on the thinner side, which is how I like mine, and loaded with toppings. And then there are the potatoes wedges! They were soooo good and the homemade onion dip was to die for. Aside from the tasty burgers, the potatoes and dip would definitely bring me back in. The burgers are around 10 euro each which seems to be about average for the "nicer" burger joints in Berlin (i.e. White Trash, The Bird, etc). We couldn't even finish our whole burgers so I think we got our moneys worth. People on Yelp seem to be complaining mostly about the non-burger food and the service. I don't know why you would expect good nachos in Germany at a non-Mexican/Tex-Max restaurant... If you want a big tasty burger and you are fine with servers with an edge, Room 77 is a good option for you. read more

Do yourself the favour and go to any of the other burgerplaces in Kreuzberg (there's at least three i can think of within 5min of walking). The fries are ok, kind of good actually, but I wouldn't be surprised if the burger came prefab from the freezer. Aside from the funny jokes/attitude on the menu, the only thing Room 77 has going for it is the massive size of their burgers. It gives one that 'hurts so good' feeling to accompany your hangover. But is it a good burger? Not really. And things slide downhill from there. The nachos are equally quite large, but not very good either. The guacamole is that creamy green stuff which only barely resembles what it should be. If you just want to stuff your face with grease after a long night, Room 77 will serve your needs. If you want decent 'legitimate' American food, White Trash bests Room 77 in all other areas. read more

We decided to go to a bunch of different spots around the hood so we took a daytime booze crawl. This bar is super close to our house and had outdoor seating, which was awesome for nice weather. However, we decided to sit inside to drink. The owner/bartender was extremely friendly and talkative. The area was nicely decorated but what is it with these bars and rockabilly? Stray Cats on the jukebox 24/7, hells nah! We ordered a gin and tonic and a margarita, but he wasn't sure how to make a margarita so I ordered a whiskey sour instead. The drink was tiny in a martini glass, but was POWERFUL. Not gonna lie, I definitely walked out of there a little tipsy. Two drinks for 12€, so meh. Wasn't the cheapest. Service was a bit rough and insisting while I was taking a lot of time to make my selection. Food was absolutely delicious and fresh, maybe too much paprika on the potatoes which is giving the feeling that they might be trying to hide something. I had heard this place has good burgers and when I walked in and saw the massive specimens on people's plates I could hardly wait to get my hands on one. When I saw the menu I was even more pleasantly surprised: not just burgers, but enchiladas, texas chili and a fajita special! Then they plunked down my favorite hot sauce on the table (Tabasco smoked chipotle) and I was certifiably in heaven. Ensconced on a cozy couch, beer and live music close at hand, I devoured a chicken burger smothered in delicious guacamole and hot sauce, as well as some crispy potato wedges. Yum. My companions had beef burgers that they pronounced wunderbar and a lovely-looking enchilada with a BIG salad. I want to go back and try some of the other menu items! The only negative is that we were sitting right by the stage and the music was extremely loud, making conversation almost impossible. Also, as a non-smoker I found the smoke kind of oppressive (particularly as I was getting over a sinus infection at the time), but I guess the ability to smoke freely would be a draw to some. Room77 is a pretty nice bar at Graefekiez. Located 5 minutes away from the subway (Schoenleinstr.), I didn't actually expect anything like that in this area. Beer costs 3 EUR, there's often live music and you can smoke inside. read more

Apparently popular for accepting bitcoins, I wandered in here on my (re)arrival to Berlin for a couple of beers and felt right at home. Ended up having a burrito - I asked for the steak, but they apparently brought me a vegetarian. No worries - I ate it so fast I wouldn't have noticed had they not pointed it out to me. Sure, the service can be hit or miss, but this is Berlin. Even the food can be drastically different from one day to the next. Still I absolutely love this place for its Steak Nachos. As a native Texan, I miss such things more than I miss my own mother. Room 77 is the one place in Berlin where I can get my fix. Sometimes they manage to screw up, but I keep coming back probably about once a week. If that weren't enough, they accept BitCoin. I don't know of another business in Germany that does yet, but anyone who supports a free currency, not controlled by the EU, the US, or the IMF definitely gets my vote. Go there!
