"Retro" however is misleading - this pub…read moredoesn't use retro decor to appear old, this place has actually been around forever and interior-wise nothing much has changed. Typical for an old "Berliner Kneipe" is cheap beer "vom Fass" (draft), cheap Schnapps (try the 1 Euro shots of Kirsch-Wodka), and a smoker-friendly environment. Usually the patrons are as old as the pub and come here on a daily basis but since this place is located on the busy intersection of Danziger Str / Greifswalder Str the crowd is very mixed. Get a Schultheiss Bier for 2.30 Euro, a shot of cheap Schnapps, and chat with the friendly bartender or come for Bundesliga/Championsleague screenings. That place gets packed! Since it's a smoker-friendly pub they stopped serving food, which is a bummer. German rules, really.

Even though, I am not a big fan of encyclopedia style menus, this one was little too small. The food was ok-ish, but i would not go there twice just to try more. The bar draws an eclectic mix, but all symbiotically enjoying their own slice of libation heaven. It's so Frenchified that it'll make you whisper "oui, oui" all night to your lover. Unfortunately, I was on a date with 13 other people (with kids in tow too!) but that's just how we like it when we're on vacation. Big get togethers are more fun! Service was phenomenal and I really applaud a restaurant that can patiently handle orders from more than 10 people. Wine never stopped flowing, food was wonderfully prepared and the price is just right. The chalkboard menu makes it hard to order (I had to squint to read the German menu, not because I know German, but just so I can try to make the words out!) so ask your server for recommendations. The octopus with pork belly is a must, while my entree of asparagus with potatoes and soft poached egg is simply fantastic. They ask what you like in a wine and then bring over several bottles for you to try. The walls are filled with bottles and I've wondered how many different wines they have. Also, you can drink any wine by the glass or bottle, it flows like water here. The menu is fun in that it has long write-ups for each dish in three languages. The menu pages are on a clipboard, a sign that they change it up often. Some dishes I've enjoyed are the pork shreds with fennel and orange, the mushroom risotto, the smoked beef, and the list goes on. It's hard to go wrong.

The food served is quite modern Italian style, you will not meet here rather Italian tradition. I would recommend Bruschetta. For me it was the sky in my mouth. By accident I ordered pasta with deer, I am not an advocate of this meat, so before I got a dish I was slightly disappointed, but completely unnecessary, because an absolute revelation was the meat of deer in Tagliatelle Ragu, the rest of the dishes so-so. What I did not like that you pay for the wine twice. Once a bottle and the second time for opening. The card is very unreadable, before reach the end you forget what you wanted. The big plus of this place is book a table, you can do it online. Overall okay, but I not fell in love in Muret La Barbarossa.

What a wonderful find - thanks to Yelp…read more In Berlin for a conference at Andels conference hotel, and was looking for something within walking distance of the hotel. After a few long days, 8 colleagues and I wanted a relaxing, casual, genuine local place to relax and and enjoy some German food and drink. Budike was exactly what we wanted: German Beer and Schnitzel - low key and casual. With more than a dozen Schnitzel options, German Pilsner, Weisse Beir and Currywurst everyone was more than satisfied. Inexpensive, too! The Schnitzel was hot and perfect. The rust potatoes were to die for. The beer was tall and cold. The place was comfortable and homey. To all my Berliner fellow yelpers - we all appreciated your reviews and leading us to a great neighborhood establishment.

A pretty great beer garden to hang out for an afternoon…read more Even on those painfully hot summer days (like the one we had yesterday) it's still reasonably pleasant out here under the shade of the umbrellas and nearby trees. The beers are large and cold, the burgers freshly grilled with a nice char, and the proximity to Berghain guarantees quality people-watching throughout the day. The grill is a bit pricey, with burgers for 7 EUR (no cheese) and a small plate of fries for 2 EUR, but it's all high-quality and tasty as hell. The burger comes topped with grilled onions and a cranberry relish that is outstanding. The fries are so satisfyingly salty to counterbalance an afternoon of Radlers and Alsters.
