In Berlin for a few days and saw this listed on a site - decided to try it for breakfast. I went solo while my wife was sleeping in, and got a table right away. Super casual, cool type of pace with tables, couches, benches, etc. Not speaking any German, they had a menu in English and the site was was great. Had a cocktail and the Commonground breakfast. Was really good, the music was nice and people watching was fun also. Actually went back the next day with my wife because I liked it so much. Great little brunch spot. This is definitely more than the 3.5 stars. The food is fresh, the service is fast, and they have a great brunch menu. Portions are generous too. Nobody in our party left hungry. Reasonably priced as well. Others in my group realized as I pulled up this place to add photos that it was basically a 3 star reviewed spot. None of us believed it should be! The breakfast at our hotel was 17 euro/person and this place, at that same price which included a Bloody Mary/mimosa without meal was SO much better. As a proud avocado toast aficionado, I really have to say that no one does it like Commonground...I know, I know. I know what you're already thinking. I am very well aware that I have claimed to have found the 'most satisfying avocado toast' in the past, but please--give me the chance to right my past wrongs. A few weeks ago, I had some family visit from Los Angeles. As much as they loved the idea of a 'traditional German breakfast', they were actually in the market for a brunch experience free from cold cuts and German cheeses. Having been to Commonground's sister café, Silo, I knew it would be a safe bet. Because gluttony has replaced dog as man's best friend, we went all out and ordered the Commonground, the original Avocado Toast, the French Toast, granola, the Norwegian Smoked Salmon, the Huevos Rancheros, and the Vegan Bowl. Don't say I didn't warn you. With that being said, we were a relatively larger party, but I may or may not have had at least one nibble of each dish. Spoiler alert--none of them disappointed. The Commonground would be ideal for a larger appetite. Personally, I'm not a huge bacon person (I'm human, I swear), so naturally it wasn't my favorite. The Norwegian Salmon was nice and fresh and perfect for the lox lover. The eggs on that particular open-faced, however, came scrambled, so if you're looking for some yolk porn, you may want to reconsider. The vegan bowl probably looked the most underwhelming. Most of the dishes at Commonground had the appearance of fine art. In fact, visually pleasing would be a relatively drastic understatement of what was presented before us. The vegan bowl, unfortunately, strayed pretty far from the status quo. It came out looking....honestly, I have no other words for it than 'bland', which is testament to the fact that looks can be (and usually are) deceiving. The bowl was absolutely packed with flavor! There was a beautiful sweetness to the maple chili sauce that worked wonderfully with the nuttier bulgar wheat. I was a huge fan of the dish, and would definitely order it again! My favorite of the day, however, was hands down the plain avocado on Sironi toast. On paper, it was probably one of the lesser exciting dishes, but trust me on this one--it was anything but. The dish came with a dallop of hummus and a delectable beetroot relish that perfectly complemented and cut through the creaminess of the avocado. Absolute dream team. The rocket added just the right amount of peppery-kick to the dish....I honestly feel like I'm in the midst of a love letter... Actually, to be quite frank, I may as well be because the whole dining experience was one pretty heavily saturated with nothing more than admiration and straight up pure affection. Naturally, my family insisted that we go again the next day for brunch. So we did....we may or may not have gone once more before the end of their 5 day stay in Berlin...going for gold! I mean, you know what they say--an avocado a day keeps the illness at bay... Commonground has easily wiggled its way to have become my favorite brunch spot in Berlin--absolutely obsessed! read more

I had an amazing time at commonground. The staff is super friendly and the food is great. I am vegetarian so I had avocado on toast. Pretty simple but good. There is also a vegan option and their bread can be gluten free if we ask. Nice new place in Berlin, not so touristy compared to the area ! read more

Very cool cafe/restaurant next to the Circus Hotel and near the Rosenthaler Platz stop. The staff is super friendly, they have indoor seating and a beautiful courtyard with outdoor seating that is very peaceful. We got two cappuccinos, house made brioche French toast, and home made granola with yogurt. Everything was delicious and a good sized portion. They take both cash and card. read more

Loved it, the place is super cute and the food was delicious. We both had the commonground (poached eggs on bread with salsa verde, smashed avocado, bacon). It was a ton of food, so good value for money (although it's not the cheapest place). Loved the details like the glass straw, the clipboard menu, etc. Super friendly staff, as well. read more

Very nice, calm place for breakfast / brunch. There's a lot choose from on the menu, glutenfree and / or vegetarian options available. I had the Organic Eggs on Toast with bacon when I was here and it was great. To smashed avocado was kind of bland for my taste but the eggs were poached to perfection! Love love love Commonground!!! They have a small but mighty menu! And they make the best espresso martini in the world!!! Seriously!! I try to come every Sat or Sun and really long for CG when I am out of town or miss a weekend! Great fresh menu with all me and my guys faves. Not worth it. Super bad service. Very, very slow. 3 waiters but only God knows what they're doing. No eye contact with the customers. The male waiter straight up ignored one woman's request and continued looking stressful but not really doing anything. Everyone seems to be stressed out in there but why?
