2 eggs in a jar with cream and chives.

Very great establishment located in Kurtzberg. Nice hosts and service. Menu has a translated English page. Euros only. There is outdoor and indoor seating. My friends and I like to split some entrees to try out different things. We each enjoyed every single item we ordered. We ordered a "little bastard" 2 egg jar, bacon (ham) scramble, goat cheese and honey scramble, a salmon scramble and a small mixed meat and cheese plate to share. All we're such a treat and now one of our favorite breakfast spots when visiting Berlin. A definite must try!

I wanted to lick the plate it was so good!

The service was prompt, the menu had English translations and there were many options of fruit juices. I had the Bomber of the Heart (Bomber des Herzens). It was one of the best brunch experiences I had in a while! It consisted of two eggs with chorizo, onions, over a bed of sweet potatoes, and bbq on the side. It was divine! The space was warm and cozy. I can't wait to come back and try something else.

It was my birthday while I was in Berlin and I wanted a good brunch. Bastard was one of the top rated places on Yelp and it was close to our hostel so we decided to give it a try. It was a beautiful day and there were tables outside but unfortunately the wasps were out in force so we took a table inside beside the window. The breakfast menu is fairly extensive and offers a good choice of both savoury and sweet dishes. I opted for the mixed breakfast platter while my friend chose scrambled eggs with smoked salmon. My platter came out beautifully presented with a range of different meats, cheeses, pate, spreads and even fresh fruit. Alongside the basket of fresh bread they gave us it was perfect. The scrambled eggs also went down a treat. I would also recommend the incredible coffee.

The mixed plate breakfast was really good and also not expensive at all. Nice portions and a variety and fresh fruit as well. Also had a mango juice. The ambience was really nice as was the outdoor seating area, but unfortunately there were a lot of bees (at least 10) which were circling tables and climbing into juices / syrups, which meant that I rushed to finish much quicker than I would have usually.

    sweet potatoes, chorizo, and eggs!

The name makes me giggle. My boyfriend and I came here from the airport for a nice breakfast to prepare ourselves for the day. We heard that this one sweet potato dish was popular, so we both ordered the same thing (something we consider to be a bit taboo, lol). We didn't regret it, though. No way was I gonna share that with him. That was all for me.

Best mixed breakfast plate ever. Fresh fruits, cheese, pâté, prosciutto, jam - pure yummy goodness!

Our hotel was nearby and we stumbled across this place. We thought it looked cute and cozy so decided to give it a try. I got the mixed plate breakfast (uploaded a pic) and it was the most beautiful breakfast I ever had - all kinds of cheese, hams, sausages, and fruits (very interesting one I might add). Everything was delicious and artfully arranged. And the best part, I think it was only 5 euros. Everything was exceptional and reasonably priced.

Meat breakfast for one, an unbelievable 6,90 euro! (July 2016)

This place is great, cash only btw. for 6,90 you get this large breakfast spread for one of either meats, cheeses, or vegan. I chose meats because I am an unapologetic omnivore. The assorted meats were absolutely delightful and I could not get enough of the chive spread. There was even a meat pate on the plate which I throughly enjoyed and sprinkled sprouts on top of. In between my meat fest, I had some fruit and sipped on my excellent coffee (which is a rarity around these parts it seems!) I don't think I paid more than 10 euros for my meal, which is unbelievable because the same spread would have been 16USD at a minimum stateside and they would have been snobby and crowded.

    Hope S.

Great breakfast and price, bread comes with it and the Jam tastes amazing. Some of the menu is in English, but if you don't speak German just download the google translate app and if you hover over the menu it will translate it to English. We were the only ones sitting inside but plenty of outdoor seating and nice bathrooms.

Amazing breakfast and menu. I eat brunch here every Saturday and Sunday. Can really recommend their breakfast plates, pancakes and home made bread. Place is always packed and sometimes you have to wait to get served. But totally worth it!

This place is just fantastic, and if you're staying in Kreuzberg, you should go. I was all about trying a place called "Bastard" for the name alone, but I must say that in this case it's a misnomer. Everyone there was super sweet to us, the location is on a quiet, sunny street, and the food was as beautifully presented as it was super tasty. My wife and I went on a Saturday for a late brunch, around 3:30 pm (They stop serving food at 4:30). There were plenty of tables at that time, both outside and in, and we were greeted at the coffee bar by a sweet woman with a smile on her face. The menu is in German and English, which was helpful for us. We were hungry (and undecided) enough to order for three instead of two. It took a bit of time to get our food, but it was apparent why: it was very lovingly prepared. I had most of the Pancake (slathered with a yummy sort of whipped cream, with side dishes of diced fruits and maple syrup), and the "Eggs Bastard": eggs in cream, with herbs, cooked in a little jar, with a garnish of micro greens and a small piece of house bread. Both were super delicious. My wife had most of a mixed-meats breakfast plate, which also came with some greens and fruits, and a basket of house breads and rolls, along with a seriously delectable homemade berry jam (alas, they do not bottle and sell it). And when I say we each ate "most", I mean we shared some with each other. As pretty as those plates were when we got them, they were empty when we were done! We also had a coffee and an orange juice (they have a great variety of juice flavors on offer), and my one quibble is that the OJ was not freshly squeezed. Surprising, given the awesome preparation of the food. For all I know, though, they had run out of oranges by the time we ate, and either way, it's not enough to knock a star off the rating. And the whole thing was only around €20! We'd have paid a lot more at home. Before leaving we had brief, separate conversations with two of the women who worked there, about where we were from, the travel plans of one woman, and the music the other was playing over the speakers. A nice, friendly ending to our yummiest experience in Berlin!

    Yummy breakfast!

Came here for my birthday breakfast; the food was amazing, such attention paid into the presentation of the food! The grapefruit juice however was not what I had expected, but that's a minor detail. Definitely recommend this place!

My brother and the guidebook said that Berliners love their leisurely brunches so I was looking forward to check out some brunch spots. My brother took me to this cozy spot on a rainy morning. He ordered one of their breakfast plates - cold cuts, spreads, cheese, bread. It makes for a very beautiful and tasty plate. I also had fresh baked brioche (delish!) and coffee. I liked this place because of the relaxed atmosphere but I do think the food itself is more traditional rather than exciting. So it really depends on your preference whether this is a spot for you or not.

Cheese plate and meat and cheese plate... yum

This was worth the electric scooter ride. We had a perfect cheese and meat board with homemade bread and a delicious glass of wine. The staff is super cute and Germany, welcoming fun and spirited. There is seating inside and outside. Beautiful big, green trees right outside the restaurant with the sun shining between the leaves. You won't want to miss this on your trip.

Would you like a crowded café with an Instagram aesthetic (ranging from the food to the decor) and a fast-paced meal or something more Berlin -- a lowkey living room-esque vibe with meat and cheese galore? Thankfully, bRICK manages to bridge these two identities for a peaceful weekend brunch that'll make you feel like you're right at home. I stopped by on a recent Saturday morning to find it half empty, more or less. The customer service was a little brusque (not surprising) though not overtly so as its hipster decor might allude to. I had the "Brickfast" -- the most Californian option on the menu (with Berlin prices). It included two fried eggs, grilled cheese (as in, thin blocks), avocado, hummus, homemade tomato cream cheese (!), olives, bread, and a small salad. The tomato cream cheese was definitely a nice touch, though I was a little disappointed that the tomato taste was just a bit too subtle for me to actually discern. And the eggs left me wanting more... more water, actually, because they were way too salty! But points for effort because there was so much food, I guess?

Owners are accommodating, as my BF & I ordered off - menu items to create a big American breakfast. Basically I ordered the blueberry hill pancakes, which were light & fluffy, with powdered sugar & warm blueberry sauce drizzled over the top. Really good, but I prefer the blueberries that are in the pancake batter, ready. Gladly with fresh blueberry fruit on top or the blueberry sauce...but must be in the batter for sure. The side of maple syrup was great. Also, butter was not served with the pancakes (standard US custom) but when I asked for some, no problem. It was not room temperature though, so didn't melt on the pancakes, but not a deal breaker. Again: I'm super picky about pancakes.... These were delicious, but this is my constructive criticism... Lol! I also ordered us (off-menu) a "side" of 2 fried eggs, sunny side up, bacon & toast bread. All delicious & the eggs here are organic. My only critique is the bacon was not crispy. Still: delicious & enjoyable...but we Americans like our bacon crunchy. Lol! Latte macchiato was a dream. Tasted almost caramelly. Recommended. Anyway, I'm definitely going back & will give my advice to the owners.... If they are into my advice, I'm giving this place another star. Lol... We had a supreme restaurant guide in the form of Svenja of course, who talked us through the menu with total efficiency and recommended what she thought would give us a well-rounded impression of German food. We were a table of one pescetarian, one meat-eater who hates mushrooms and one lady who was happy to have a little of everything, so we opted for three dishes to share. Simple solution really, Svenja and I could partake the non-meat creamy cheesy pasta with crisped onions and mushroomy cheesy rosti option, she and my SO could share his meat dish as well as the pasta (he's the mushroom-hater, by the way) and that way everyone could have a bit of what they liked. Firstly we ordered drinks which were beers and wine, lovely enough and reasonably priced too, and when it came to ordering food we did get to that point where you feel horrendous for waving a member of staff over... but the wait was getting a little OTT and we were all very hungry little souls by this point. Anyway, when the food came it did not disappoint. The mushrooms on the rosti had been cooked brilliantly, in that they offered none of that sliminess which indicates they've been sweating in their own juices too long... rather they were tender, had bite to them and really retained the flavour of the dish. Yep, garlic to the max. Piles of melted cheese of course, as is requisite for the foodstyle, and oh, that melt in the mouth grated potato underneath! Heaven. The thick spaghetti noodles with the creamy cheese sauce were divine, and I did sneak a potato from the SO's plate but even they were full of bacon - that was one meaty dish! They even sliced the sausages in a really unusual style whereby they opened like flowers, or squids, much to his horror and my amusement. The place is atmospheric and full of wood; you kind of feel like you're in a lodge. Overall it was an awesome start to our trip, the food was spot on and while the slow service did let it down somewhat it came with a friendly smile, so there's little to complain about really. A surprise winner, and I do want that rosti again... like right now, please.

But, as soon as you walk in, the smile of the owner --whose nickname is the café's name and also a language from eastern Anatolia-- tells you the place is something unique. It feels contrived to write, but on my first visit, I really did feel like he was welcoming me as a guest to his house (so much so that I was almost obliged to search for a hidden camera ...). I've returned several times since then and always enjoyed the same service, from everyone working there. That personal and welcoming tone somehow carries over to every angle of the business: the cabinets behind the counter look like they could be in a cozy cottage, all the tables and chairs and the sofas in the backroom (if a bit awkwardly scattered) seem personally chosen and invite tucking in with a book or for long lounging conversations, the stereo hums oldtime jazz or turkish folk music in the background, every cappuccino has art in the foam, and they seem to have every imaginable milk type available to suit a customer's needs. The café is still new-ish...who knows, perhaps this attention to detail will vanish with time, but I doubt it - the mood set and the quality of the cakes and coffee (Zazza is also a bean roastery, you can buy bags to take home) carry all the hallmarks of a great business. I've yet to try the breakfast (e.g. scrambled eggs with turkish sucuk sausage, bircher muesli, croissants, savory or sweet mixed breakfast plates...), but the various cakes --from cheesecake to mousse to streusel-- seem to already have devoted followers on Sunday afternoons. I'm definitely one of them: sitting in the row of theater seats at the front, looking out on the park through the big front window, eating the 'orient orange' cake and sipping a cortado it's hard to imagine a better end to the weekend.
