    Chicken Tenders
    Sarah M.

Stopped while traveling because we haven't been to a Cracker Barrel in a long time. Fun to browse the shop. The chicken tenders were surprisingly good and the trout was great. The service was good. Nothing to write home about but was a good meal overall. We stopped midafternoon and there were only a few groups eating so it was a nice, quiet meal.

Always amazing customer service and wonderful food! You can't go wrong here, Atmosphere is always like home! I go here whenever I get a chance. The ladies in the gift shop are very helpful and nice. There are usually some good deals in the back, I racked up last time I was there!

We came here on a Thursday morning while doing business in the area. There were very few places in the area that offered breakfast that had above a 2 star rating , so by default, we ended up here. I have always loved walking through Cracker Brarrel and looking at the cute trinkets they sell. The ambiance was like entering the home of family,it was warm and welcoming. The gregarious hostess greeted us and asked if it was our first time there, and we answered yes, so she then gave us birthday cake candy canes before we were seated. Our waitress was attentive and amicable. I was in a celebratory mood, so I ordered a Strawberry Mimosa. It comes in a glass that is not common for mimosas, but it was still very good and was the highlight of my meal. I ordered the Build Your Own HomeStyle Breakfast. My meat choice for my meal was the Spicy Chicken Sausage, which they did not have any defrosted, and I wasn't interested in any other meat or meatless options. My meatless meal came with 2 scrambled egg whites and fruit plus biscuits and gravy. As far as my meal, the fruit was fresh and tasty, the rest was forgettable. I ended up having 3 mimosas to give you an idea of how good they were. My husband had the Momma's Pancake Breakfast and enjoyed his entire meal. The restaurant was clean, including the restroom. Customer Service was a 5, hands down we had a wonderful experience from the hostess, our waitress and the Lady who checked us out. I will have to assume the chicken sausage is rarely ordered, but hopefully, moving forward, anything on the menu that can be ordered will be available.

The foundation is still there with the rooms and decor but with lots of tables set up, similar to hosting a gathering at home. Not only that, everyone here was really friendly! We really felt welcomed, and though the second time, service wasn't as outstanding, it was still good. I think they really nailed down the vibe of southern hospitality. For drinks, they have seasonal cocktails, which I think is fun, but I'm not around at a time where I would be able to chill and drink. I end up with a go-to sweet tea. Strong and sweet, that it kept me up, but not the strongest nor sweetest I've had. There's also complimentary bread that's mini muffin shaped and dense like a biscuit. It's buttery and salty, but I like it! Before coming, I saw so many things about the sampler, so I definitely wanted to get it and try out. Love the fried green tomatoes with the honey mustard. It didn't feel oily, and it held up pretty well when cut and dipped into sauce. The pimento cheese here is probably the best I've ever had, but I will admit that I have not had many (I tend to not like it). In fact, both these items stay on my mind enough that I do think about coming here more often than I thought I would. And this is just for the apps. The rest of the entrees are pretty standard. Some better than others, but that's due to preference. I haven't gone through the whole menu, but I do prefer their chicken to some of the other menu items. For their sides, I haven't seen or heard of some of them. I asked about them, and they were described p well, enough for me to not want to try congealed salad. I'm not a big fan of jello type things, but I did try the pear salad. Not for me. Absolutely not for me. I did really enjoy the collard green soup and sweet potato souffle though! They were great, esp the souffle. It was my first time having nuts in them, and I loved it so much. Everything else was alright, like I'm sure you've had or can make better mac. Overall, I'm glad to know this place because it's a good rec for the area if you're in the mood for Southern food. It's not a bad pick for vegetarians either, though they would only have appetizers and sides to pick from, but I liked them more than the entrees. There's a parking lot, and it's in a good location to see the rest of downtown Perry too.

Remember, I'm at the bar where all the servers are at. And they were not that busy. It was Mother's Day. And when she did she said she was training a new person, ok???? How about trying to train her to take care of customers!! I ordered. And 27 minutes later, NOTHING! For just eggs and biscuits and gravy! She never even came back to me for water. Rude rude!! I finally just walked out. Unbelievable! Disappointing, but I understand and quickly assessed my lunch options. We decided to order an appetizer and then split a lunch plate. For the appetizer we got the loaded fries, since they were hand cut as we were sitting there. Overall the loaded fries were okay. I think they went too heavy on the cheese and the other noticeable thing was that the cinnamon in the chili was a little stronger than I would have liked. For lunch it was a Big Sexy Burger which had a double burger, pimento cheese, bacon jam and maybe some other stuff. But those items mentioned sold me on trying it. My only criticism about the burger would be the pimento cheese, it seemed to be heavy on the mayo and not as much cheese, but overall a decent burger. I think the real star of the meal was the onion rings, I would definitely recommend these. Now that we tried their lunch, I am looking forward to trying their breakfast menu.

The food is good ish, but it wasn't as much as an emotional experience finding a mom and pop spot in the back woods that has amazing bbq. Well, this past Saturday my husband and I finally did. The entire property felt like a scene straight out of a Southern postcard. Families were out picking strawberries in the patch, people were relaxing in rocking chairs on the porch with ice cream cones, the café was buzzing, and the roadside market was full of shoppers loading up on goodies. The place was busy but somehow still relaxing. We started in the roadside market where I immediately grabbed one of the little carts because self-control clearly wasn't part of the plan. I stocked up on fresh produce, preserves, ciders, wines, and somehow convinced myself I "needed" adorable wooden earrings from a local artisan. We sampled a few local wines and naturally left with several bottles. The market also has gifts, souvenirs, and and entire section dedicated to dogs/ furry pets. After shopping we headed next door to the café for dessert. They offer cobblers, cakes, pies, homemade ice cream, and enough sweet treats to make you abandon every diet plan you've ever created. My husband is a peach cobbler enthusiast, so ordering their famous peach cobbler was mandatory. According to him, it absolutely lived up to the hype. I went with the peach pound cake and it was moist, buttery, and delicious. Their breakfast and lunch menu also looked really good. If I were road-tripping through the area, this would absolutely be a stop for a meal. It's also definitely going on my list of places to take guests when they come visit Middle Georgia. What really tied everything together was the staff. Everyone we encountered was warm, welcoming, and full of genuine Southern hospitality. Needless to say, we won't wait another three years before stopping again.
