We stopped by on a family trip, a total of 10 people. Our server, Azalea, was super nice and attentive. Several of us ordered homestyle chicken dinner, the combo (sampler platter 3 choice inc meatloaf, homestyle chicken and chicken and dumplings + 2 sides), someone got the hashbrown casserole shepherd's pie (she said that she could eat it everyday). My nephew got a fried chicken sandwich, that looked amazing and HUGE! My other nephew got mini burgers and fries, that looked great. My sister got chicken fried chicken, my niece got chicken fried steak. My brother in law got steak and eggs. We all enjoyed our meals. Going to Cracker Barrel is always nostalgic for us, we always went when we were on a road trip. I ordered the homestyle chicken with mashed potatoes & gravy and Hashbrown casserole. I have to say, the gravy wasn't good at all, the hashbrown casserole wasn't as good as it normally is. I think I normally get mashed potatoes when I get the pot roast, that gravy is better. I tried the chicken and dumplings and meatloaf and they were very good. We also got the biscuit beignets, which were delicious. I signed up for the rewards program to get a free app, but I wasn't able to use it, I was told on my next visit, but I didn't read that on the signs posted. If you plan on dining in, join the wait list online; otherwise, be prepared to wait. Also, know what you're going to order before you get seated, then tell the server that you're ready to order. My husband and I decided to try the new stuffed cheesecake pancakes and the new French toast recipe. The pancakes were topped with fresh strawberries and came with strawberry syrup -- very good. As far as the French toast goes, I prefer the old recipe. I have to say...I don't really mind the wait because I have fun shopping in the store. They have good seasonal choices and great gift ideas. Compared to other Cracker Barrel's I'd say this one was mediocre, but it could have been an off day?? Took a good 15 minutes to see a server initially, and I could see them running around. I asked to order right away and was told the kitchen was backed up. Yes, it was 45 mins from the time I arrived until food was served. Yet my loaded sweet potato was ice cold and missing everything but butter. When asked, server fixed it and seemed to have good communication with the cook. Overall I'd try it again. Fish was a little more fishy than previous trips so grateful for the lemon. read more

Had this locations nightmare of meatloaf. First they put two frozen solid slices of meatloaf on a plate and nuked them til they were one sold chunk swimming in the grease. In order to disguise it, they covered it with about a cup of chili sauce which mixed well with the grease from the nuking. Then they added brown mashed potatoes with gravy and a bowl of broccoli. How do you make BROWN mashed potatoes? The broccoli was the high point of the meal. This used to be a good spot but after this culinary elite I will have to look elsewhere next time I want home cooking. read more

We came for a late breakfast before my niece's upcoming nuptials. This was the best choice as other places we drove by were not opened for breakfast. We both had eggs. I wanted an egg sandwich, but settled for eggs and a biscuit. It was alright, but the biscuit are bland, not buttery like biscuits served in the south. Mom worries though. The waiter came and had us help move tables so we were in his section. When we moved the table, all kinds of nasty old food was uncovered, but not cleaned up. We were asked to sit in it. We moved the candle on the table to make room and uncovered puddles of syrup that sat their a while. I had to ask someone to come clean it up. Food took over 30 minutes to come out, but people that came after us were receiving theirs. Drinks went empty for most of the meal. And of course not one manager was visible or came to our table. Told items were out but they showed up on the receipt, when asked it was explained they didn't have a button for other things. This place needs to seriously get its act together or just close their doors. Absolutely the worst experience and worst restaurant in the Lansing area. Eat elsewhere. read more

Heading home from a funeral home visitation and stopped at the Okemos, MI Cracker Barrel at approximately 8:30pm. (We knew that they closed at 9pm) We stood at the Host station for about 5 minutes without anyone coming out to either seat us or tell us they were closing at 9pm. The cashier did ring a bell/buzzer alerting the kitchen staff that a customer was there as she said someone would be right out. A few minutes later someone did walk out from the kitchen area, looked at us, and turned around and went back into the kitchen. We stood a couple more minutes and left. Had a staff person told us that they were shutting down kitchen operations, we would have understood. To pretend we weren't there is unexcuseable. read more

Just had breakfast here. The food was tasty but everything was cold! The only warm thing was the gravy and the coffee. The eggs, bacon, casserole and pancakes were all cold. The server acted like he was in a huge hurry (even though there weren't many people there mid morning). No one ever asked us how our meal was so we didn't get a chance to tell anyone. Oh well. I must have been disappointed to find this restaurant on Yelp and complain about its food. I'm just mad that I paid 17 dollars for three undercooked eggs and a side of ham that was so salty I couldn't eat it. I guess the cooks have no idea what over-medium is. Again, I hope they don't buy their ham product to be that salty. Again, that ham was barely warm. It also was fatty. They could have cooked that some more as well. ( you know I must have hated that damn ham to keep referencing it) The upside is that the hostess and the server were amiable, and service from that side of the house was great. The store side of the house was beautiful to experience. I liked all the different souvenirs that were there to purchase. They had some beautiful quilts that I would have bought if I had them on my account. I was working, so I couldn't buy one. I'm an over-the-road trucker and would not have wanted to carry something so nice around in my dirty truck. I worked at Cracker Barrel store #517 when it first opened. We had a kick-ass crew and it was a blast serving there for 5 years. Recently, I thought it would be neat to revisit since I hadn't been there in many many years, and my kids would enjoy the store and the wall decor. We arrived tonight around 6:40 and the restaurant was mildly busy, about what you'd expect for a Thursday night. One of the first things I noticed when sitting down was the amount of dirty tables that weren't pre-bussed. Our managers would get on our butts for not pre-bussing and making the dish room clear it all off. Next thing I noticed was that they have some alcohol beverages on the menu. Didn't know they started serving those. Felt a little out of place, given the country and family dining setting (we're not at a bar or fancy restaurant). We were greeted soon after sitting down and ordered drinks. The drinks came. Cracker Barrel, for the love of God, can you please invest in smaller straws for your kids cups? The normal straws don't even go halfway in the cup, and some kid is gonna pole their eye trying to navigate that thing. I ended up cutting one in half to give to both kids. We ordered our food and I could tell the server was new based on how the order went, and things she forgot to ask. If someone orders chicken tenders, you ask if they want them grilled or fried. You DON'T come back 5 minutes after ordering to then ask that question. Also, if someone orders the chicken tenders meal with 2 sides, then asks for a third side ON THE SIDE, you ask if they want the additional side, or to upgrade to the 6 piece meal (don't assume they want more chicken). If someone orders a breakfast meal that comes with a side, ask what they want for the side. After all that, we sat and waited.....and waited.....aaaaand waited. It was, not exaggerating, 40 minutes until our order came out. I know this because I sent my wife a pic of the kids about 10 mins after ordering. 30 mins after that order, I was about to get up and see what the heck was going on, and then the food came out. The table behind us arrived after we did and was already eating, so I assume the server simply didn't enter our order for like 20 minutes. During my time at CB, ticket times over 20 mins were unheard of, unless it was a really slammed busy time. The food wasn't the best, the chicken was dry as if it had been sitting out for 10 mins. Our server then only came back to check on us when she dropped the bill. Really sad to see how much the store has decreased knowing how good it was in its earlier years. read more

Stopped here on a long drive with my kids, specifically mapping our route so we could get some good pancake breakfasts. There were 3 employees standing at the checkin desk talking when we walked up. Eventually they noticed us and sat us down. Decided we would order drinks at least before using the restroom. After 5min we went one at a time to the restroom so if the waitress came we could still order drinks for each other. She never showed up to take our order. We saw a lady bussing tables almost refusing to look our direction. Several other tables, including the one right next to us had their order taken while we sat there without even being asked for drink orders. We all figured out our order and sat there. 15min later we got up and left without a single person stopping by. I frequently drive by here on long trips across state and will be sure to never go again. Highly recommend avoiding this Cracker Barrel. read more

I've always heard of Cracker Barrel but I've never been to one until we decided to stay at the Hampton inn down the street for this business trip. We came here to place a to-go order on Tuesday night. We reviewed the menu and a server took our order. My coworker went with the lunch portion of meatloaf with carrots, biscuits and mashed potatoes. I had chicken tenders with fries, fresh fruit and corn. While waiting for our order we looked in the store. Nothing stood out to be that neat to me and the prices seemed pretty steep for basic candy and other random items. About 10 min or so later our food was ready. The food was decent and was a big portion for the price. The fries were good but the corn wasn't memorable. Was fun to try once to say that I did but I wouldn't come back for dinner - maybe I'll give it a try sometime for breakfast if I'm back in the future. read more

Order was placed at 7 o'clock. Food didn't come out until 7:35, but that was only for half of our party. They didn't give us silverware either. Everyone's else's food came out at 7:50 and some of it was cold. The cold food they offered to reheat. Finally at 8:05 the new warmed up food came out. Didn't get the check until 8:20 and had to go up and ask multiple people to finally get some leftover boxes. This is hands down the worst Cracker Barrel I've been too. One of the worst experiences I've ever had in a restaurant. The manager was a very nice man though and did his best to fix the kitchen and wait staff issues. It started out with the five of us not getting our water/sodas for more than 20 minutes. When the four glasses of water and one soda arrived, the ice had all melted, they had been sitting somewhere so long. We ordered and didn't get our salads until after the meals were delivered. My stepdad got his soup (all he ordered) 20 minutes before the rest of us got our meals. (After talking to the manager, they had brought him the wrong sized bowl, one that isn't even on the menu). When we asked about out salads, we were told by the waitress that the cook was "making lettuce" and she left the table. One of my dinner companions ordered a chef's salad along with her meal. They brought the wrong one, a much larger one. When told it was the wrong salad, the waitress argued that it wasn't, even when she was told by a different waitress that it was the wrong salad. When food arrived, 75 minutes after we got there, most of it was cold. Not a single one of the meals was fully correct. The waitress, tried to argue with me about my food being cold. Insisted I was wrong and it was warm. The manager did his best to make things right though. read more

I'll come right out and say that I'm not a fan of Cracker Barrel. A lot of family members and coworkers love this restaurant, but I don't care for it. The merchandise is pretty neat, but I don't care for the backstory or the constant country music they have playing on loop. Despite this, there is always a CB in walking distance of whatever hotel my company is staying at and people always recommend going there. I'm trying really hard to not be anti-social, so I go. Heck, I even suggested we go to this one since no one could decide on what to have for lunch. Our waitress was so nice. She really was. And the man who rung us up was nice, too... And that's where it stops. I ordered some uncle-bob-cousin-tom nonsense that had steak, eggs, and hash. The eggs and hash were okay, but the steak was tough. Getting your steak medium means it should be nowhere near tough. It was tasty, but chewy chewy chewy. I also got some baked apples... Ugh. I dunno. Maybe my taste buds are off or something, but they were nasty and so was the gravy for the biscuits. My coworker got something smothered in sausage gravy and ended up scraping it all off. The eggs and hash were the stars of the dish. T_T How sad is that? I know a lot of places can't do grits justice and I wish they would just admit it. Cracker Barrel, why? My grits were lump-tastic and watery. If they just had a little patience and worked that water into the grits, they would have been great. My coworker just laughed at me when I was forking through the lumps, telling me that's why she ordered double apples, but the apples weren't good either. D: And no free re-fills on orange juice?
