I ordered their Grandma's Breakfast with three fluffy pancakes and sausage only. Our server was a bit all over the place and my order came out incorrectly. Pancakes were warm and crispy however my sausage and drink refills needed reminders for the server. Today may have been an off day but overall a 4 out of 5 experience. read more

Waitress couldn't get the ok when corn bread was ready ! Asked for a manager , and he apparently sent out another staff member to talk to us . I asked what's the hold up on cornbread , and she told me that they were ready . Then told us she would bring out to us . After our meal was 90 % done ! The Male manager came out without acknowledging the fact , and was standing by the exit and I said something to him and alls he said was glad we got the cornbread . What an ass . Service was pretty minimal...nice waitress, but not very attending...order for food taken...10 min later she returned to advise my wife that they couldn't cook her order...so, my wife ordered another breakfast choice...the food arrived, but was missing biscuits...the waitress advised the biscuits were being expedited...we never saw the biscuits. My meal, however arrived 10-15 min after her order arrived. Food was OK, but pancakes horrible. Tasted like fried fish. A dismal experience. After a weekend of backpacking, I couldn't have chosen a more perfect first meal of real food. I had been seeing the stuffed cheesecake strawberry pancakes billboard for months, and wow. It exceeded all of the hype! The pancakes were crispy and fluffy and the strawberries were fresh and delicious. Better yet, it comes with two eggs & bacon. I also decided to try their new watermelon lemonade and that was SO nice and refreshing. All in all it was so good, I'm already itching to come back soon. They allow you to scan your receipt at the table to pay, which is super convenient. Our waitress was beyond friendly and the hostess was great too. The service was ok but not great. She wasn't attentive at all, a sweet young girl but basically just took our order and brought our waters out. My husbands meal had a piece of hardened plastic mixed in with the Mac n cheese and the meatloaf was cold and gross. My son's friends had fried okra mixed in, he had to spit it out. My husband completely lost his appetite after only eating a few bites of his meal and told the waitress about the plastic in his food. When she got her manager (10 minutes later) Reggie, he came over and asked my husband "what's up?" and then proceeded to tell him that it was just a piece of paper from one of their food labels. My husband told him it was hard and definitely plastic and Reggie's response was is definitely paper and it just gets " hard when it's cooked". He finally only discounted two of the sides when he really should've taken off that one meal or at least asked my husband if he wanted something else instead. Experience started out great. Got our tea pretty quick. Got order in. Then that's when it fell apart. Wife and daughter wanted fried chicken special that they have, waitress came back and said they were out of bone in chicken. How do you not have bone in chicken around lunch time. So daughter got chicken strips and wife got the meatloaf. Never saw waitress again, I was out of tea for sometime. Get food and then ask for more tea. They forgot our biscuits. I was almost done eating by the time I got a refill and biscuits. Wife's meatloaf looked like refried beans with ketchup on it. Didn't look very appealing at all. Not sure what our waitress was doing because I saw all the other waitresses going around and doing refills. I'll give her the benefit of the doubt that she was new. Just got a Togo order. Had to call 3 times and beg them to not transfer me back to the Togo line on the third because no one would answer the phone to place an order. I waited over the time they quoted. Then after I had paid I had to ask them to go get me silverware for my hash brown casserole and the mayo that was supposed to be on the side for my egg sandwich. I ordered the eggs over medium. They are slimy and the white isn't cooked, it's busted all in the container, the bread is soggy, the lettuce and tomato are soggy. Really crappy experience. We were coming from Catawba Falls (hiking from 5-830 pm and we were super hungry and couldn't bear to do another drive-thru today. Wanting a quick meal, we did what has become our standard after camping or hiking and stopped at the first CB we came upon. - Kids' grilled cheese- best I've tasted im a while; 9-yr old even ate the crust - SO said catfish was pretty good! - My pot roast looked old and dried up, but the white gravy for my mashed potatoes made up for it! I've eaten here two or three times. The service is always a bit slow, but it's about like you'd experience from a Cracker Barrel. Same menu, and the food generally tastes fine. The decor is exactly what you'd expect to see from any of the newer Cracker Barrel's. The main issue is that I've walked in to put my name in for a table and just about every time they say it'll be a 30 to 60 minute wait. I'm sure they are shortstaffed, the tables are empty every time they say that, and we end up, leaving to go somewhere else. We've pretty much given up on eating here. If you're not wanting to wait 30 to 60 minutes at a minimum, I'd encourage you to go somewhere else. Especially if you're traveling on the expressway and expecting to have a quick stop. Food at this location was subpar. The biggest issue is that Cracker Barrel has a difficult time with consistency among their restaurants. My experience: The chicken and dumplings were watery and slightly void of flavor. The hashbrown casserole was near burnt across the top layer. The sweet Tea, which is normally a staple for my family and I, was overly sweet with a taste that was slightly off. Also, when checking out, I was asked if I was part of the Cracker Barrel awards. I said yes and entered y phone number. I knew I had rewards, yet, unlike other locations, the cashier didn't even offer me to use my "peg" rewards, I had to specifically ask to apply them. This wasn't a deal breaker in and of itself, but it did help to underscore the experience I had. I encourage anyone planning to visit this location to perhaps avoid it. The lackluster service that we saw at Cracker Barrel today is not only a reflection of the company in general but of the low standards the customers of Morganton, NC have allowed to take place. The server got our order wrong three times. Then when part of the correct order came out it was thirty minutes before the next portion came out, but it was the wrong order. The server said they would take the biscuits and gravy off the order, however, the manager said they could not take it off even though we never received the food. They said they would take the two coffees off the order, however, they only took one coffee off. We stopped at this Cracker Barrel on 5/26 on our way back home from Lake Lure. I have been to plenty of Cracker Barrels this one is by far the best food I have had especially the biscuits they were made with love. Let us not forget about our waitress Estefani, she was amazing very attentive and very sweet. I told my husband I really like she is to sweet and adorable. The place was very clean and beautiful. We recently got a take out order from here that was awful. None of the meals were good but the children's chicken tenders were inedible which meant our granddaughter had nothing to eat for supper. They were fried to the point where they were so tough they couldn't be eaten. They should have been thrown out at the restaurant and never sold to or served to a customer. We had to throw them out. Breakfast in the morning is good but anytime we've gone after 11am.. good luck getting the food cooked right. Last time I went I got a hamburger steak burned on the outside and raw inside. Fries over cooked outside raw inside..fried apples.. stone cold. The waitress had them remake it for me and was told they wouldn't give it to her. If you get chicken and dumplings be ready when you take a bite of chicken to get a mouth full of water. Yes they soak it in water. Your slaw might be fresh and maybe hair free. If your chicken is cooked all the way through your lucky. I never recommend the gravy even for a worst enemy They use to be good but now the cooks don't give a damn. Going with a solid 3.5 with this visit, mainly for our incredible waitress, Ms Laura! My breakfast, a Uncle Hershel Favourite, was perfectly cooked to order, however CB food items continue to suffer from 'quality erosion'. For instance, the biscuits: There's no way the two biscuit items brought to my table could possibly be mistaken for anything other than Freezer to Table. Long gone are the days when they might have been mistaken for a true, grandmother-made biscuit in appearance, taste, size, and consistency. The same would be said for the once legendary Hash Brown Casserole. What once was a rich, cheesy-onion-sausage-laden delight, suitable in itself as a 'trademark' dish, has eroded into a common, mild tasting, generic, shredded potato side order. While the pancake menu (thankfully) has been retained, the tiny serving bottles of syrup no longer are "100% Maple Syrup", but are diluted by 45% with sugar syrup. Portions, also have shrank; not entirely a bad thing, but hardly reminiscent of the belt-bustin', heavily laden plates of yesteryear. Still, Cracker Barrel retains just enough of what once made a stop a memorable, enjoyable eating experience. The novelty covered walls, the 'pioneer' furnishings, the ubiquitous stone fireplace, and when executed correctly, excellent and friendly waitstaff! Today's food was acceptable, not memorable as of old, but our waitress, Ms Laura, was simply 'over the top'! Laura should be the benchmark that all waitstaff should strive to obtain! On a moderately filled Saturday morning, she combined tasks from various tables in order to stop by our table no less than five times, with coffee, water, refills, food, food check, and meal check, each time with a friendly and pleasant demeanour. KUDOS, to you! Admittedly, I've encountered a bit of (ahem!) unevenness in the CB chain lately. Hopefully, pockets of service such as encountered today will expand, and ensure the chain's continued survival. read more

This is a newer location, smaller than the usual CBs. The men's bathroom is squeaky clean, I guess the locals haven't had the time to tag it all up yet. It was Monday lunch so the place wasn't too busy. I was quickly seated in the enclosed patio. There was the usual antiques and old signs handing on the walls. The server came out after a few minutes and immediately asked for my order without taking the drink order. After conversing with her for a few minutes, I discovered she had been on the job for two weeks, so I forgave her of that misstep. I ended up ordering the bacon cheeseburger and steak fries. You can't go wrong with that. The server came by to let me know the cooks were making fresh bacon so it would be a few more minutes. No problem! The food came out, and yes, it was a bacon cheeseburger on grilled sourdough bread. Yum. I love steak fries, and they did not disappoint. The server came by again to check on me, and said she had never tried the burgers at Cracker Barrel. Oh girl, you have to get them. I think I convinced her to order one. It didn't occur to me until after I left, but none of the customers were getting biscuits or cornbread. Normally the server will drop off a couple when they take drink orders. I wonder if they have stopped the practice, or just for lunch? I need to ask. But that is why this visit rates three stars instead of four. read more

Worst Cracker Barrel I've ever been to. Waited over an hour for food that was undercooked and cold. Saw our waitress once the whole time because she avoided our table. Cut into our sausage and it was pink, cold, and raw inside. Scrambled eggs were cold and rubbery. Cut into my over easy eggs and water/clear liquid poured out all over my plate. When we brought up our concerns to the waitresses working we were talked down to, interrupted multiple times, and told "I guess you don't like eggs that way." Took 10 seconds for a waitress to bring out a second plate of over medium eggs that were cold and clearly scraped off somebody else's plate. Thankfully our meal was comped when we spoke with a manager, but we still were not able to express our concerns and were interrupted once again and hurried out of the restaurant.
