I've NEVER had a bad experience at a Cracker Barrel, until this visit. I came in on a Saturday in August, 2024 near opening time, after twelve hours on the road. The store was not busy at all, and I was seated immediately. I sat there for eleven minutes without being greeted, offered water, or even apologized to for the wait. And I'm not sure the excuse for this, as there were only two occupied tables in my half of the restaurant. After sitting there for eleven minutes without being greeted, and seeing other patrons be served and even have their tables bussed, I approached the hostess and told the her that after eleven minutes, no one knew I was sitting at the table I hadn't gotten any service. The hostess just stared at me....For an awkward amount of time. She just went totally blank. I don't think she had been trained to do anything other than point people to a table...she just froze. So after the long, awkward pause, she tells me "I hope you have a nice day." I'll save you the details of the remainder of that conversation, but it only got worse. Needless to say, after far too long of the hostess not grasping what was going on, I walked out. I found it frustrating when the food trickled out to our table over 10 minutes. The temperature of our food was not very hot. Yet, overcooked a bit besides the eggs. Dry deep fried chicken not even the gravy could save. I had the Grandpas Breakfast and there were some off flavors going on. I believe it was all over seasoned. I am way overdue for updating my review of Cracker Barrel, which my family and I are grateful to have as a local dining option in Harrison. My husband and I recently stopped in for Sunday dinner. As usual, we were greeted by friendly staff and seated immediately. For my entree, I tried something new: the Maple Bacon Grilled Chicken. My husband had the Old Timers Breakfast with Sirloin Steak. First, the overall presentation of the Maple Bacon Grilled Chicken was wonderful. It was almost too pretty to eat. Almost. The chicken was very tender, and the seasoning was perfect. I was initially worried that the maple would make it too sweet, but that wasn't the case at all. Each bite was delicious. My husband tried it too, and he also loved it. So why 4 stars instead of 5? My husband regretted ordering the sirloin with his meal instead of ham. He commented that the sirloin was a lite tough, despite being served medium rare,, and lacked flavor. There was no rub or seasoning. Everything else, though, was flavorful and delicious, especially the fried apples. Usually at restaurants you see managers rounding out in the dining area helping to deliver food help see people we have never seen a leader on Sunday mornings helping anyone. I do feel bad for the staff because it seems like most of them are trying your checkout cashier in the store is very slow and it's unfortunate. I would give no stars if I could. The last two times I have been to this Cracker Barrel, the food was just ok, but still decent portions. Last night my family dined in and the food was terrible. The portions were certainly smaller and my family all had diarrhea after eating here. The fried catfish I ordered was undercooked and tasted fishy, no seasonings at all, the side of hashbrown casserole and carrots were tossed on the plate with the catfish, when the sides are usually in bowls on the side. The hashbrown casserole hasn't tasted good the last few times I've been here, but the carrots last night were still hard with no butter or flavor at all. This place has gone way down hill. read more

i'm a single elderly man and the last three times I've been in there. It's like I'm invisible the waitress I gave a simple order to. I've watched other people be seated after I have been. They've got their drinks and their order before I even got a drink I have walked out of this place twice now this this is poor management and these young girls that they are hiring now just do not want to work. I remember this place being one of the best service restaurants there was in Harrison. I would give it one star but there are a couple I'm sure decent waitresses there unfortunately I haven't came across one at all. Either get new management or train these very young and experiences young ladies a proper way to serve their guest, I will not be going back. I would say three strikes and you're out but it's two strikes with me. This is the second time I walked out of this place watching other people get their meals water service by a good waitress and I always seem to get to bad ones because I guess I'm a single man by the way I'm a big and what's good service I always leave a 25 to 30% tip. And what is up with the high prices $3.45 for a glass iced tea really I don't know what kind of tea you're buying and a portion size has shrunk by 1/3% on all your meals. You're a disgrace good luck. I feel like we got ripped off tonight. We are regulars to CB (usually about once a month). We always get baked potatoes as one of our sides INCLUDED with our meal. Tonight- our check said that we both got a loaded baked potato- which is normally a premium side. This added roughly 5 dollars to our total. When I told the manager that the check was incorrect since we both just got plain potatoes with only butter- she told us that it's all the same now. All potatoes are rung up as loaded potatoes! This is never how it was before so I picked up a menu when walking out to find that baked potatoes are no longer a regular side. Your only option to order is the premium priced loaded potato EVEN IF YOU GET IT PLAIN?! This is incredibly dumb and very purposeful since CB knows that most of their customers order a baked potato with their meals. It's too much of a common side that most everyone orders to have done this. CB knows this and is taking advantage of their customers. With the quality of service & food declining and now this little incident- we've come to the conclusion that we will not be frequenting CB like we used too. I love Cracker Barrel! The food is consistent and good, great prices, and usually the service is pretty good too! I had the steak and egg hash brown casserole and it was SO good. Also, the biscuit beignets are a must. It's obviously not going to be a fine dining experience, but it's perfect for an affordable and tasty meal. Great for the whole family. Stopped in this location today for my father in laws birthday dinner . Had a great experience tonight . Our party of 8 was sat with our waitress Angela . She was amazing and really made the experience tonight so much better . She was very attentive to our big party and always made sure we got what we needed ! She really was amazing ! I ordered the French toast with chicken and it was delicious ! I got the blueberry syrup to go with it and it was the best! My fiancé got the steak tips , chicken and shrimp and his food was really good as well. Cracker Barrel always has the best ambiance , I love eating then looking around the gift shop . For the value, this place is a home run. And all-day breakfast, what's not to love? I was having a difficult time deciding between dinner and breakfast so I got both. The fact that they offer pancakes as a substitute for a regular side dish made my decision an easy one. I'd get both! Our waiter on this occasion was excellent. He was Johnny-on-the-spot with refills, accurate with our orders and courteous. On this occasion I splurged for the strawberry lemonade which I highly recommend. It's worth the extra buck or two. As far as the meatloaf, which is advertised as one of their specials dishes, I didn't taste what was so special about it and will probably get something different next time. However, the breakfast and their pancakes are always dynamite no matter which location I've been to. And those little bottles of warm syrup...what's not to love about that?! Arrived at CB at 4:45, seated very quickly, many empty tables. Server seemed flustered. When she came to get our orders, I ordered Country fried shrimp and she seemed confused. Showed her menu listing. She wrote it down, went away, came back 10 minutes later and said it wasn't on the computer so I'd need to order something different. Told her to ask someone else (since she said she was new). Guy came back out with her (not another server) and I showed it to him. He seemed a bit confused also, said we'll figure it out. We finally got our food at 5:35. Had already asked for boxes cause we had to be home at 6:00. Had to throw food in boxes while my husband paid. Several items were missing so had to wait for her to get them. Worst experience we had ever had at CB. Husband was asked by cashier how was it. He said horrible. Quick, friendly service on New Years' Eve. Grilled trout was well executed, flaky and well seasoned. Country ham ditto. Biscuits were flaky and high, green beans in pot liquor as they should be. I am not the biggest fan of any Cracker Barrel. I just typically cannot find anything uniquely different enough to go there to eat. However, because of my friends, I tried their meatloaf entrée for $9.69. It was a huge slice of meatloaf; it was still nothing too different to talk about but it hit the spot. The creamy hashbrown was different and OK. It came with my two other sides of baked sweet potato and fresh steamed broccoli. My mom treated me to breakfast the other day. We decided to get a little wild and try their new pecan praline iced coffee. It was much sweeter than I normally take my coffee, but it was very good! I've tired their goo-goo cluster latte and wasn't too impressed, but their pecan praline was top notch. I ordered what I was order, which is the Sunrise Sampler. Nowadays I like the uniqueness of the set up and the merchandise they sell. The merchandise they sell seems like things you can find at Hallmark. My friends and I went to this Cracker Barrel on Easter Sunday at around 11am. There was a rush of people leaving morning mass, so there was a bit of a wait but a lot less than we expected. We were served by an extremely kind and gracious waitress named Hailey. she was sociable and checked on us semi-frequently despite the rush. All the food was correct, and she refilled our coffees whenever she noticed they were empty. Food is always good but service is on a downhill slope. This last was the worst. Told a 15 min wait. After about 10 the called our name and then told us it was a mistake. Waited another 15 min and went up to check and they said we weren't on the list. Told us they could expedite us a table, finally get a table and there are 10+ open tables throughout the establishment. So I would say they were understaffed, except for the fact that there are sometimes as many as 5 people at the hostess station, 3 people in the lobby trying to sell me junk or candy samples and at times 5 more people standing by the fireplace watching the servers work. I called at 5:09 to place an order for 3 meals, after being on hold for 3 full minutes someone finally took my order. Was told 10-15 minutes (@5:14). I arrived at 5:30 and was told it wasn't ready.
