Last couple of times we went to Cracker Barrel's (while traveling) we were very disappointed (undercooked or overcooked food), but this location in Findlay brings it! This is the Cracker Barrel I remember from my younger days--super friendly staff, fast service, hot and tasty breakfast. Cracker Barrel isn't fancy, but it's predictable and affordable and that is its greatest gift to traveling families! Always good! Cracker Barrel is Cracker Barrel - You always know what you're going to get. From the layout of the restaurant, to the staff and the food, their consistency is nearly unparalleled to any other chain. Their model is simple - Good food, good service = Happy Customers. On this particular occasion, I was craving their French Toast Breakfast. One of my usual go-to orders at Cracker Barrel. French Toast, two Sausage Patties and an Orange Juice. When the server brought out the food though, it was not the French Toast Breakfast. It was a French Toast Bake, which I'd never heard of. I looked puzzled and asked her what it was. She realized the miscommunication and put my real order in immediately. She also stated that since she put the plate of food on the table, she couldn't take it back, so she let me take it home. A few minutes later, my delicious French Toast arrived. It was perfect in every way. Later that day, I heated up the French Toast Bake at home and had it for dinner. It was okay, but it was re-heated. I may have enjoyed it more when it was fresh from the kitchen. Would I go back? I always do! With my extensive travel, there is almost a Cracker Barrel within 20 miles of whatever highway that I'm on. The billboards and signs will always remind you. These billboards work! It has been several months since I've been to this Cracker Barrel, even though I drive by often as we live in Findlay. Following two terrible experiences today was absolutely 180° from what it was a few months ago. Today we were greeted when we walked in seated very quickly. The restaurant was clean. The service was excellent, and the food was very good. The biscuits may be the best I've ever had here. Really glad that we had a good experience, hoping that this particular store has turned around. I usually eat at this Cracker Barrel once a year when I am in Findlay, always on a Saturday. Even though it was Saturday night, the dining room was almost empty.This time I had a 4 item vegetable plate. The food has always been good and it was today also, but the service was a little spotty. When the meal came, there were no beverages delivered, no gravy on the potatoes and no butter for the muffins. So it took a while to get things right. It seemed to be a one off, so I'm sure I'll stop here again the next time I'm in Findlay. I was a little dismayed at some of the changes they've made to the menu. I hope they bring back the vegetable soup and the cobbler which are two things I always used to order. Right now CB is going through some major pushback from the woke changes they made in their logo, etc. Fortunately, they still have the triangle pegboard games which help pass the time when you're waiting for your meal. I evn bought a couple to take home sine my wife likes them, too. I think they will recover OK if they listen to their base and ignore the corporate types. The special for the day wasn't ready so we had to wait or order something different. We got charged for a side that should included in the special. We both had water but it wasn't refilled so we had nothing to drink. Our server had a large round table because the coworker didn't want to serve the customers. All I ordered was chicken noodle soup for dinner. When it came it was a cup with very small amount of noodles or chicken. Mostly broth. We were charged for a side. This location in Bowling Green, Ohio, is located off I-65 and state Rt 231. I found it a little tricky to get back to the entrance off Mel Browning street. It is tucked back but visible from the interstate. Plenty of parking and it wasn't too busy. Just walking through the doors into the general store brought back so many memories. The inside was fun to walk through and look at all the stuff you really don't need but so much you never knew you wanted. I was promptly seated, but the service was so slow. Every single thing about it from checking a menu, beverage refills, to getting the check but I had the best waitress. The waitress was super friendly and helpful. I had mentioned how I was looking for a marinated chicken tenderloin sandwich on grilled sourdough bread that I used to enjoy and she had mentioned it had not been on the menu for quite some time. No suprise as how long it's been. She had the perfect solution and said we can make it that they still offer everything and she can place the order in a way I can just assemble it and still get my sandwich. For the two sides, I got two portions of the cheesy potato casserole that has always been a favorite. All of this was a great choice and I appreciated the server suggesting the workaround and our conversations in general. I was super excited about this and ended up with some leftover marinated chicken tenders to go. I had chosen not to eat at the chain in the past due to LGBTQ discrimination hiring policys and treatment of employees from the 90's. I have not eaten at a Cracker Barrel in decades and maybe once since then but it's been well over 15 years. The company overall has imporved its positioning and employee relations and I chose to give it a try again. Cracker Barrel was always something special for us on long road trips of the 80' & early 90's so it was fun to treat myself to a visit. A lot of nostalgia from trips with my parents, grandma, and relatives. It was always something special and brought back good memories this visit. I would eat here again and the service was great (but slow) and if they don't have exactly what you are looking for on the menu, it never hurts to ask. read more

I will start off by saying the service was excellent. The server was very friendly and very attentive. I ordered the mama's pancake breakfast. The pancakes were excellent, and I added apples to them and they turned out great. The eggs were a surprise they were supposed to be over medium but were over easy at best and one of the yolks were broken, which really surprised me I didn't say anything. They ended up bringing me another egg, but it was also very undercooked it had Whites that weren't even cooked on it. The bacon was also significantly undercooked and very un appetizing. read more

The first clue should be the empty parking lot. But we went in anyways because we have always loved Cracker Barrel, and especially the Findlay Ohio location. The prices changed, and not for the better. The ambiance changed, and not for the better. Ten people eating in a dining room built for 150 is pretty gloomy, and Cracker Barrel's dining rooms are already dark and gloomy to begin with. The menu changed, and not for the better. I've been a HUGE Cracker Barrel pot roast fan for decades, often leaving the restaurant almost ill from eating too much. Not anymore. Portion sizes are smaller (for a higher price) on smaller plates and the pot roast is more like over cooked flank steak not the fork tender pot roast of the "old" Cracker Barrel. The service was as expected when the greeter was also the server, one person doing two jobs. This review trends negative not based on the Findlay Ohio location's flaws but on the Cracker Barrel Company's flaws, which for us are fatal. We won't be back. read more

A real country style homey feeling, from the large porch with the rocking chairs to the inside dining area with one of the largest real firewood fireplaces and of course the homestyle cooking. This was the worst meal my wife and I have had to endure in years. I normally have to become physically ill to award a 1 star, but I will make an exception in this case. We have visited this restaurant in the past with mixed but passible results. But this time, it was just horrible. I ordered a beef stew side/starter that was okay, and a french dip as an entree. My wife order the grill rainbow trout. The french dip was completely flavorless, had a few ounces of dried beef, and stuffed with grilled onions. The manager gave me a full refund and offered a coupon for the next time which we did not care to go back and take her up on that offer. The waitresses here are absolutely horrid. The food at Cracker Barrel is always great, and I've loved it for years. I don't think I've ever had a bad meal. I typically am not a fan of chain restaurants, but CB makes me feel like Mom is cooking. I always get the same thing, (boring, I know know) but the roast beef dinner is so damn tasty. The hash brown casserole is one of the best side dishes ever created, and could be consumed as an entree by itself. I get the hash cass for all three of my sides; every time. The waitress loomed as we were sitting down, getting situated, and I told her we needed a minute to get our small child into fighting position. She walked off, and we didn't talk to another server for 15 minutes. The one that finally came was someone different, and told us no one knew who was supposed to take our table. She then forgot a drink, and biscuits, and was slow the whole time. Not very friendly, either. As a whole, I love the food, and the service is typically friendly, but this location lacks the typically-stellar service of the rest of the CBs across the nation. read more

I was headed up North and we stopped at this Cracker Barrel for lunch. Everyone was starving bc we hadn't brought any snacks for the trip. We were seated quickly and our order was taken just as fast. That's where the speed abruptly ended! We waited a good 30 minutes for our food! The restaurant wasn't even crowded at all. Finally our waiter ambled back with our food. My eggs were cold and the gravy was like paste! It was so thick, you had to sling it off the spoon!! I also got only one biscuit with my order (Uncle Hershel's Favorite)! Had I not been so hungry, I would have sent that awful food back and went somewhere else! read more

Disappointed . The waitress was super sweet and kept me from getting up and walking out. I asked for a medium well sirloin steak. It was pouring red blood onto my broccoli. I used their online system to add a party of two to the waitlist and I was given a 10-15 minute wait. I arrived in 15 minutes and then was told I had to wait an additional 25 minutes so essentially waisted time going online. A supervisor should be auditing this system for effectiveness. read more

I was very disappointed. This used to be a very good place to eat before covid. The waitress was new and she tried her best but the kitchen needs improvement. Our orders were wrong and items were forgotten. One order was supposed to be topped with gravy and sautéed onion. The onions that came were a joke. We had an order to go which was actually correct but the cornbread looked like one piece broken in half. When paying our pill the cashier asked how our meal was. My husband said very disappointing. Chester is at the ole' barrel on this lovely evening, the service was overwhelmingly spectacular. As soon as you walk in you are greeted by welcoming smiles and endless support for your purchases. I was seated rather quickly and my sever was wonderful, he had an amazing sense of humor and a love for his job. Our food was even better, came out quickly and delicious. He even gave us not Kraft mac and cheese, but homemade mac and cheese which melted in my mouth, like my grandchildren say " that food slapped." I can't comment on the food but the service was nonexistent. We arrived for breakfast at 7:15 or so on a Thursday morning and found only a handful of cars in the parking lot. Upon entering the restaurant there were two employees milling about the retail area as we made our way to the hostess stand. There were three tables occupied that we could see and no staff. The employees in the retail area ignored us and no one showed up to seat us. As time passed, we got irritated and left without saying a word. The staff in the retail area appeared to hide from us as we walked out to make sure we didn't ask them for anything. I visit Cracker Barrel restaurants as I travel and have never experienced this before. I don't plan to return to this location. There are plenty of other choices in the area. read more

I love Cracker Barrel, but this branch has issues. I ordered eggs, sausage and well done hash browns. The waitress brought me a broken egg and asked if that was ok. I said yes until I realized my hash browns were half raw. I sent the plate back, which was immediately returned without the hash browns. Now I had a cold broken egg and cold sausage which I rejected and asked if my eggs could be re-done. The plate came back with cold sausage and the eggs on top of each other, a clear message from the cook. My wife ordered soft scrambled eggs which came out hard as a rock and were immediately returned. Normally I don't blame a waitress for how my food is cooked, but you do not serve broken eggs, raw hash browns and hard soft scrambled eggs, all of which you could see on the plate. The waitress should have known better, and her $0 tip was well deserved. What a shame, Cracker Barrel needs to get their act together. read more
