I usually really enjoy a Cracker Barrel meal. Oh it's probably true that my memories of these meals have changed to make them appear much better than they ever were... there are no Cracker Barrels where I live in Los Angeles so going to one has become something of a treat. Not this time. We came around 11ish so we could get breakfast or lunch. We were undecided as to which meal we wanted so Mom and I got both menus. They're in the middle of a big push for their hash brown casserole and that is A-OK with me. This Cracker Barrel also has a Mimosas! And like a whole wine list! I've never seen that before. But being with Mom and all that... I stuck to unsweetened tea. We placed our orders. And waited. 25 minutes at a Cracker Barrel is not what you expect. We did finally get our food and it was just... ok. The hash brown casserole breakfast was ok but after a while, it's just too much. My mom's bacon and eggs weren't very good at all. The eggs had a strange texture and the bacon wasn't really edible. Even the coffee wasn't great. Cracker Barrel isn't generally delicious... but at least it's reliable. While the food is still good, our last 4 carry out orders have all been missing items. Today, it was beans but since my dinner was beans and greens, it was incredibly disappointing. I also did not receive the corn relish. On other occasions, we have been shorted an entire meal. There are other locations we may give our business to, but not this one. read more

We've been to Cracker Barrel several times hoping it would improve, but unfortunately it hasn't. The service is usually friendly, which we appreciate, but the food quality has been disappointing each time. It rarely tastes the way we expect, and they are often out of multiple items we try to order. It's frustrating to keep giving it another chance and have the same issues happen over and over. Overall: 4.5/5 s! I've gone to cracked barrel many times growing up, and I've always loved it! This time, I ordered Fried Chicken & French Toast (which is my all time favorite, regardless of where I eat brunch), and Cracker Barrel of Dry Ridge did not disappoint! It was honestly the perfect amount of food for my appetite (I have a smaller appetite than most), so it definitely kept me full but not overstuffed! I would say if you're allowed to, definitely order the biscuit gravy on the side because I just dipped my chicken in it and it perfected my breakfast even more. I included the rest of my family's meals in this post, but i unfortunately can't provide much insight for theirs, but they loved their meals as well! Let me first say that I have always been a fan of Cracker Barrel. We always make it a place to gather with friends and family. This is why we were so very disappointed in this particular CB. We had a large group (21). I called ahead to let them know. They refused to hear how many or put us on a wait list. Ok. So we went understanding there would be some wait. 45 min wait list. We waited patiently with 13 hungry children. After over an hour, we started checking. And checking. And checking. Over an hour and a half into the wait (appx 7:30) they FINALLY admit that they gave one of our tables to someone else! Long story short, we waited ANOTHER hour to be seated in THREE SEPARATE TABLES (and then they insisted that one of the tables HAD to be served by a different server with a different check causing that table to get their food and check an HOUR before the others in the group. So some children had their meal, some didn't. That server went home leaving that table with no drinks or service the rest of the night while the other two tables still had no food. The restaurant was closing with our group in it, finally eating, because when they finally did seat us, they served small table after small table that had come in behind us, including the one of our group that they forced to be in a separate ticket. You might ask why we didn't leave? Because they didn't tell us their error until we had been there way past closing time for ant other restaurant in the area and only after WE PRESSED THEM for a reason for the long wait. It was a night of horrors, when we only wanted to treat our entire family or to a fun family evening meal. I would not recommend this place to anyone. EVER! And for the record, I very rarely, if ever post a negative review. read more

The food was eggcellent! I loved the eggs and county boy platter, it really filled me up! The waitresses were very attentive and checking as much as possible. She even checked to see if lunch was ready for us in a very timely manor ! Plus the atmosphere is always warming since I grew around the country decors. One of the only full serve restaurants in Dry Ridge and happens to be pretty good. Ate there at 6 PM and had to wait 10 minutes for a table, so we hung out looking at things in their country store. Everyone, including our server Logan, were extremely nice. We tried/shared the 3 item sampler of fried chicken, signature meat loaf, and chicken n dumplings, with mashed potatoes and cole slaw. The chicken was very good with a nice crunch to it, the meat loaf was good (but not great, could have used some gravy), and the chicken n dumplings was just OK. 1st time having the chicken n dumplings and not sure what I was expecting in the way of a dumpling, but there was a lack of flavor. The mashed potatoes with white gravy, and the cole slaw were very good. Reasonably priced and the service was great. read more

We typically love Cracker Barrel's and have been to many of them in different part of the Country. On a trip to Indy, Ohio and our last stop today in Kentucky to see The Ark. we decided to go to the nearby Cracker Barrel. We ordered two or our favorites fried catfish and chicken pot pie. When the very efficient server brought the food to the table we were shocked. The catfish was like rubber and was just a thin piece of catfish that my husband could not even chew. The pot pie was thin with only 50% full of the filling--about 1 inch deep and was bland. The crust was not flakey and was actually tough. We typically love their cornbread and biscuits. We immediately saw that the cornbread was burned on the bottom and didn't have a corn bread consistency--looked like they had not put enough cornmeal in the batter. Biscuits were flat and tasteless. The server was very sorry and offered to bring a new piece of catfish and it was --large fillet and flakey inside. The chicken pot pie was inedible and the server offered to take it off the bill but suggested chicken tenders and we ordered fried apples and okra with it. Okra wasn't hot but the fried apples fine but the chicken strips burned on bottom and really unappetizing, almost a gray color and not very good at all--we tasted them but couldn't eat them. We ate very little of the food and when we got the bill they hadn't taken off the meal. When we went to the cashier we told her how bad it was and she said a sort of sorry and rung it up anyway. By then we just wanted to get out of their but should have asked to speak to the manager. We rarely complain but this was the worst Cracker Barrel we've been to--except for the server who was great! There the only reason I gave them even one star. Then to top of off we got back to the hotel and my husband tossed his cookies!! Neither of us are sick so it's easy to think it was from the food. Cracker Barrel in general has really declined in quality and breadth of menu selections. We stopped in to the Dry Ridge, Ky location today around 12:30pm for lunch. There were lunch and dinner specials available Mon-Fri and then there were five or six "Cracker Barrel Favorites" listed for lunch and dinner choices. Then there's breakfast combinations that either include pancakes or not. The only other variables are number of eggs and types of breakfast meat and the inclusion of biscuits and gravy. My wife has in the past asked for and received a grilled cheese sandwich with bacon strips, but today at this location she was told there's no going off the menu. So we both opted for breakfast. We ordered The Country Boy breakfast which was pretty average fare. The hash brown casserole was about a tablespoon of the dish. The bacon was burned and both breakfasts should have had biscuits and gravy, but instead we were brought "biscuits and gravy for two." That meant one small bowl of gravy and four biscuits. Without our asking for it or server said she would bring a second bowl of gravy, as one was clearly not very much. The restaurant was clean, the server was nice. The food was average, the meal selections we were used to from visits in the past were not available. We used to enjoy Cracker Barrel restaurants but our last 2 or 3 visits in locations in South Carolina and Kentucky have soured us on them. read more

There isn't much to say about Cracker Barrel. It's a good place to stop on a trip, food comes quickly and it's clean. This is one of the better run ones in my experience, and I've been stopping here for many years because it's halfway to my daughters house. While food is not necessarily healthy, it is filling. Coffee is plentiful, and I'm always offered a to go cup. And I can be back on the road in short order. read more

Walked in, seated and upon reviewing the menu I noticed nearly every item comes with pork or an up charge. I was told I could not swap out for a non meat. So, I ended up ordering hash browns. After he ordered he went to the restroom. He also shopped in the little store and was gone about 15 minutes (he said) and he was surprised that our coffee and water had not shown up... as you can see , in the picture it was not busy. We waited 5-10 minutes for help originally and over 15 minutes and no drinks. I had kept myself busy looking at the menu and wondering what pork plant they have a grand deal with since they push pork (everything else they had with meat was up charged)... Weird weird weird.. We stopped coming here a while ago due to slow service... but being forced to order pork and not wanting it will keep us away forever... why force people to pay for your pork? I was obviously frustrated and now I wonder why the waitress didn't point out the 2 items you can get without meat... not helpful. And later she wanted to double charge me. Anyway, i found one of two items on the menu that you aren't forced to order meat and asked her to order that and use my hash browns as a side. That would have been 7$ for a small sandwich and hash browns. As she was walking into the kitchen she said I would be fully charged for the hash browns AND the sandwich....which would be over 10$.... Wow it's a lot of work to get service or food or drinks here.... We left as nothing had been served to us in the 25 minutes we were there including drinks.. no drinks no food and thankfully we did not have to see the pork. Stay far far away....
