It is a good as while waiting for your table, you can shop. It took about 30 minutes to get seated. The menu is impressive as many items to choose from. Arriving late and leaving early, I did not have the opportunity to enjoy a meal this time at the Cracker Barrel. But the Cracker Barrel completely supports the RVers and so I owe them a breakfast! My date and I went to Cracker Barrel today and it was a terrible experience. We walked in at 5:27p and were seated promptly, however that was the last contact we had in the dining room with a Cracker Barrel employee. The tables were mostly empty in the center dining area. We looked the menu over and made our decision. Then we waited and waited, but no server ever appeared. People who were seated after us nearby were being served drinks and placing their orders. At 5:47p.m., we took our menus back to the check in stand and let them know that our server was missing and we left to find food in an establishment that would make sure we were served. We went to McDonald's......In other words, Cracker Barrel was outdone by McDonald's....It is an absolute shame that our Cracker Barrel has sunk that low. They should consider closing the doors and having a training day. This is the second time we've had a similar experience in the last two months. After all of the dust-up surrounding the brand and decor changes, I decided to see for myself. The food was about the same, and the servers are collateral victims of corporate management, but they all did a good job. It's obvious to me that the corporation doesn't appreciate seventy four year old male veterans. The wokie CEO and her fringe co-conspirators have sterilized and removed any Americana ambiance. This isn't about the physical store itself, but Cracker Barrel's delivery service: Pancake Kitchen. Usually I'm not a fan of the restaurant, anyway, but wanted to give their pancakes a go. My food was delivered earlier than expected, but looked like a mess. Unknown if this was a production error or happened during delivery. The delivery bag was sealed and my items were all upside down. When I opened the bag, there was a cup of whipped cream that was deflated. My pancakes were smooshed. Absolutely not worth it. The taste didn't even make up for it being a mess. I also ordered a caramel latte that tasted like a normal cup of coffee. No stopper on the coffee so someone could have easily drank from the cup. Not to mention, easier to get cold. We have been eating at Cracker Barrels for years but lately after their menu changes it seems the quality of the food is starting to slip. My catfish was not as good as I am used to. I ordered the Steamed Broccoli and it was far from steamed. It was hard; closer to raw than steamed. But the other side of corn was okay. My wife had the Baked Cheddar Broccoli Chicken and she said she did not like it at all. It was greasy and had no flavor. The broccoli was over cooked to the point it was mushy and unidentifiable. When the kids were little, I tried to avoid Cracker Barrel because of the store. Every time we came to a Cracker Barrel we could not get through the store without buying something. The same was true for this visit. The wife says stay away from the regular items and look for the clearance rack. Yes there is a clearance rack. I just don't like this "store" setup to get into the dining room. It's too "tourist trap." The sink was out of order in the men's restroom. But there was a nice fragrance inside and just outside the doors of the restrooms. I am giving them three stars because their customer service is still better than average. Maybe the 2nd time here the past 2 years as haven't been too pleased with CB. Thanksgiving meal in 2024 was tasteless and disappointing. 4/5/25 dinner was terrible. Wife's bacon half raw with mgr indicating it shouldn't have been served so why was it? My dinner tasted terrible except the biscuits. And now we have to ask for jelly? Ever since the new CEO took over CB has gone backwards. Tasteless food, menu changes, all to make a buck. Won't be going back anytime soon! read more

Had great service today but...something was very, very wrong with the baked potato ( I did not have the loaded, only butter) It had a bad indescribable taste. How does a potato taste bad?!? I mentioned it to the waitress and you could clearly see the potato had a couple bites out of it. One I spit out and one my husband tried. She offered to get something else but I was finished with the rest of my lunch. She said she would tell her manager and we heard nothing else. Considering a baked potato cost extra I would have at least thought we'd get the cost removed. I cannot have gluten and eating there is hard for me but my husband likes it. maybe if you get the loaded potato you won't notice the horrible taste. I originally gave this CB a one-star for the reasons I explained then. To be fair, we decided to give them a second chance and very happy we did. The hostess was friendly and attentive. The server was quick to attend to us, get us drinks and take our order without rushing us. The food was excellent although I believe CB in general has reduced portion size. Based on that second experience, we went again this past Saturday night and got seated promptly in an area we requested, and were attended by a server right away. Alexis -- our server -- was excellent. she served our food in a professional manner ( I've had servers just place the plates randomly on the edge of the table). Alexis was a suberb server even bringing us to go cups for our drinks without us asking. The food was served hot, plated correctly and a good ticket time. Alexis even asked if ee'd l8ke some biscuits right away. All-in-all an excellent experience. The 4-star instead of 5 is about portion size and prices getting pretty high which is a corporate issue and not the fault of anyone at the restaurant level. One note to a manager - I asked a host who was passing by after seating a party if I could get a bag, instead of saying yes and either getting one or letting someone know we needed one, he went a too lengthy explaination about not knowing where they are because it's noy part of his jpb. I would say the food is very typical for chain meals. It's pretty good but nothing special. The service though at this location was amazing! Cracker Barrel isn't exactly on my top Go-To places to choose from, but after a long day of travel and a grumbly tummy- you take what you can get. Our server must've also had a long day. She didn't seem "on top of her game"... but we could tell it was the end of her night and she kept a good, laughable attitude about it all, that we weren't even bothered. Aside from the usual "creepy grandparents' barn" theme that every CB has... the food hit the mark that was needed. I wasn't wow'ed or letdown, so I guess that's good, amirite? This place has become something of an American staple. If you are traveling through Americana by way or car, this is a cultural jackpot. A place to sit for s meal and feast your eyes, if not your tastebuds... Here you will find some staple dishes like pancakes, or biscuits and gravy, fried eggs and hashbrowns, but don't get too excited because like many things in America that get too big to maintain quality over quantities, this place is no exception. The food is average at best, but will fill you up if satisfying hunger is your main concern. Don't come here if you truly want a quality tasty meal that is like home cooking, because it isn't that. Its similar to an IHOP or a Denny's in terms of quality, but it has that decor that can keep you entertained unlike those two places. Additionally, there is a little game at all the tables, as well as a gift shop filled with all the things that you don't need, but think you do, or want to get for your loved ones (if you are a trucker and don't want to get the gifts at a Loves truck stop). Cracker Barrel is so fun! It's a no-frills, family friendly establishment and I love every bit of it. I made sure to go with a Cracker Barrel pro (grew up eating at CB), so I could maximize my experience! We came on a Sunday for the Sunday Homestyle Chicken (two boneless chicken breasts, hand-dipped in our special buttermilk batter, breaded and deep fried to a crispy golden brown in our kitchen) and boiled cabbage (Sunday & Wednesday only!) When I walked in, I was a bit overwhelmed by the store! I had no idea there was that much stuff. But, I was quickly able to scan and see the "hostess stand" sign in the left corner. We were seated with no wait even though the restaurant was pretty packed. The median age had to have been at least 70, which I didn't mind, I actually thought it was precious & added to the "ambience." Service was quick, efficient but friendly! Onto the food: *I love more savory biscuits (which is why I prefer Popeyes over KFC biscuits) and CB's is just PERFECT. Another pro-tip from my friend: you HAVE to ask for the blackberry jam. They won't just give it to you. The blackberry jam on the savory biscuit is a match made in heaven. *I can't get over the breading on the fried chicken. On a recent visit to Bloomington, we arrived in town "parched and famished". We weren't familiar with the restaurant scene in the immediate area around our Hotel (Homewood Suites) and pretty much pointed the front of the car and landed in the Cracker Barrel lot. I knew I was in some trouble when I pointed out the Gayle that Cracker Barrel doesn't serve alcohol. However, the lemonade was tasty and the combinations we ordered hit the spot and were a great value for the money. It was near closing time, and the service was excellent. And then we went back to the Hotel (via Kroger) for a glass of wine. The next day, we decided to take Gayle's Son and the youngest Grand Girl out to Lunch and asked him to pick the spot. His choice? Cracker Barrel! Twice in the same trip! Dad correctly pointed out that Cracker Barrel is a great place for Kids in terms of atmosphere, service, and food. That's also true for Seniors has I think our party was one of the youngest in the dining room for Lunch that day. And for Gayle and I, our experience as just as good as the night before. read more

The quality of the food has plummeted over the past couple of months. I have taken my family there twice in 2 months and both times the food was sad. I've never felt bad for a pancake before, but Cracker Barrel made me feel those feelings. Went there on a Wednesday evening, they were hardly even busy, yet our orders took a very long time to be delivered and the only thing that was really edible was the mac 'n' cheese that my son ordered. It's unfortunate because all of the waiters/waitresses and cashiers are so friendly, and it's hard to see the disappointment on their face when you tell them that the food is awful. I would suggest having a serious talk to whatever manager or whomever is allowing these plates to be served to customers. My wife's eggs had shells in them, and her bacon was so burnt it could have been used to build a tiny raft. My pancakes were so little that I thought someone was messing with me. I want to make it clear that this is not a staffing issue this is someone at the top who is steering this restaurant into the ground. read more

I went to the Bloomington Cracker Barrel for the first time in a year. Everything has changed and not for the better. I ordered the same chicken dinner I have had several times before. I was shocked when the waitress brought out the plate and it did not look like it used to. The plate was smaller as were the portions. This was always enough for dinner and lunch the next day. Got seated quick for a Sunday. Waitress was friendly but that's where the good experience ended. The food was bland, yet over cooked. My wife got the meatloaf with mashed potatoes and dumplings. The meatloaf was slightly burned in a small area that was easily able to be eaten around, the potatoes were needing salt and looked dry, and the dumplings had like 3 large dumplings and watered down gravy. I had ordered the fried chicken tenders, with dumplings and Mac & Cheese. The Tenders we're slightly over cooked and rubbery, the Mac and Cheese needed a little more salt not a lot, and the dumplings, like my wife's there was maybe 4 or 5 large dumplings and the gravy was watered down. They were out of strawberry jelly, the waitress never offered to fill our waters but did offer to give us large cups for to go drinks. When checking out, I was going to express my concern because you're normally asked "how was your meal". Since the cashier counter was busy the Retail Manager checked us out. Offers to upsale us on M&Ms over worried if the meal was good. It was able to be eaten but it was far below standards for Cracker Barrel. This was an out of town visit for us and if we decide to go back to the area, it will not include a stop at this Cracker Barrel. read more

My wife egged me on to try the local Cracker Barrel. The restaurant section is only part of what makes this restaurant what it is. As one enters the store, you are reminded of an old time store. The bathroom traffic light pointed the visitor to the place where one can relieve oneself. The greeter greeted us promptly and seated us. The waiter took care of us and left out the sourdough bread with the chicken blt. The black raspberry cobbler was delicious. I frequently come to Cracker Barrel and this time I came I ordered chocolate milk with my pancakes and it had a weird almost expired kind of taste to it. Normally it's very good but not this time. I brought a friend and she ordered the chicken and it came over cooked and she could barley bite into it. Okay, so I try my best not to visit chains, but I had a hankering for Chicken and Dumplings, and this place was along the route and served to fulfill my craving. 6 of us entered the place a little after 9pm on a Saturday evening and were immediately seated. Service was very good. Our messed up humor was well played by our server, who did a great job of fitting right in. I overheard him say "God bless" to the table of people behind us, but didn't "bless" us as we left. He knows his crowd. We all ordered various things.. some dessert with a random side of apple butter, some soup, and others a full meal. Everything came out perfectly prepared, and although we had to remind our server for blackberry jelly (they always try and push the grape) and that we didn't have silverware and didn't plan on eating with our fingers, we were in and out fairly quickly and on our way. 3 stars because, even though the service and food were good, nothing really blew me out of the water. read more

The service was mediocre, and the food was cold, but the biggest problem was finding the hair in my wife's plate of food. We understand this happens, but the food preps and cooks need to wear hairnets or beard nets to minimize the chance of this happening. Let's jump right in to this... First experience at any Cracker Barrel ever, and I will never be back. Waited over an hour for food, and when I asked our waitress how much longer she told me another 15 mins. I then asked could my son who was very restless have his order (fruity pebbles) cereal. That took about 10 minutes. We asked when she brought our food for utensils (didn't have spoon for cereal)... that took 5 minutes, I got up and asked another waiter. After my son was done our food came. I ordered French toast with two poached eggs. I'm sorry no picture, as I took one bite of the "toast" and pushed it aside. It was bread that was fried... no taste and the eggs were over cooked and had shell in it ( they were over cooked and rubbery). My husband had chicken and fries, It was terrible. While people who arrived later got their food and we sat there, no one refilled our drinks or told us what the wait was. My husband and I had an early dinner date at Cracker Barrel this evening. He ordered the grilled catfish dinner; side dish choices were a salad (which consisted of iceberg lettuce, cucumbers and cherry tomatoes), pinto beans, cole slaw, and two biscuits. Once the fish was given a squirt from the fresh lemon, it had some much needed flavor. I had chicken and dumplings with mashed potatoes, green beans and two corn bread muffins. The dumplings were a bit undercooked in the center, but they came with a generous portion of chicken. I also had a raspberry lemonade served in a frosted mug. I would say it was the highlight of my dinner. The eating area was well maintained and our waitress very attentive; she brought me a refill on my drink and also jelly for my muffins. I was impressed to see the manager out circulating among guest and helping the wait staff clear-up the tables. Overall, our food arrived quickly and the servings were amble, but as much as I truly wanted this to be a five star dinner experience, the food just didn't have enough pizazz to warrant it. Do you love Horse Merch? I know I do! Spend some time in the attached gift shop carrying around Horse Merch and getting looks. Maybe try the thing on the menu called Uncle Hershel's [something something idc]. Do you know what Age looks like? Get ready to find out! On your way in, be sure to to take a look at the court-ordered notice hanging in the doorway of every Cracker Barrel in the United States which makes clear that Cracker Barrel serves customers regardless of their race or national origin. It starts with the phrase "In the spirit of pleasing people", which is how you know they really mean it. Yes, so onto the Good and the Truth of my visit. I got some very sweet chicken. It was like chicken smothered in the sweetest sauce topped with the finest of Sweet Fruits from "Country Boy's Cabinet" maybe. The chicken was not so good, not really bad either though? The middle. I am being a little unfair in this regard because I accidentally swallowed my "chaw" when I was eating this chicken, haha ugh. The sides though, man. There are so many sides with everything. Some of them are super weird and you get a million of them no matter what you order. Everything is so cheap and you get a million sides. Some good, some bad, does not even matter when you look at the quantity. You could conceivably spend less than $15 and get two entrees which would include Every Possible Side. My friend basically had two meals worth of sides. I did too, but I ate everything, oops. Oh, and eating the included jelly containers after the meal like they are a tiny dessert was a pretty funny joke she made. Try that one out? Look, the value at this place is incredible. It's a great deal with weird, sometimes okay food. Comfort food. Like, it's obviously a self-parody, but look through the eyes of your wallet, rather than your ego. It's a great deal, and honestly a lot of fun. "Old people know what's up." You know what you're getting when you come here; I mean the official name of the place includes both the words "Old" and "Cracker". That being said, anybody who argues this place isn't Auth is just wrong. It is 2016 and whatever the Sham Scientists at Cracker Barrel's corporate HQ got together to mimic doesn't exist anymore. Years ago I loved Cracker Barrel. My wife is from the South and we like Tennessee cooking. This is no longer good here. Listless eggs. Grits taste like instant. Gravy has no sausage flavor. Coffee is weak. We got no jam or jelly and no butter. Fair service. I am not sure how they stay packed.
