This is my favorite cool little seafood hole-in-the-wall when I'm driving up I-95 towards points North. The food is fresh, and for those Marylanders, the paper on the table and the mallets to crack crabs will be a nice reminder of home. There are a few unique beers on tap at any given moment, including one dark beer with coffee that seems pretty popular. If you like crab, from blues to the King, they have it all. Steamers were great, although they need to come up with more than one piece of texas toast for the broth, which is excellent. I've had the conch fritters on a previous visit, and we had cracked conch this go-round which was really good, a compliment coming from someone who doesn't love fried seafood that much. They have fish dishes and a landlubber choice or two for that person in your party who is a pesca-party-pooper. The service is excellent, warm, and very local. This is not an off-the-highway joint. You will have to seek it out about 5-8 minutes from the offramp. It is soooo worth it though. read more

Okay, coming off the highway I was questioning my choice,but with such great Yelp reviews, I soldiered on. The question was, are my three arguing kids and napping wife going to enjoy this diversion. Napping wife kind of gave giggle as she noticed that Gettin' Crabby was joined with Gun Shop in a very industrial looking area and between giggles managed to get ,"Let me guess, Yelp". She cannot deny that Yelped has guided us to some pretty cool spots with few exceptions. We tried the following: Crab Bisque Crab Cake Sandwich Soft Shell Crab Sandwich Shrimp Sandwich Pasta with King Crab The food was very tasty, service was friendly and prompt, but the tab was more than I expected for this style restaurant. Been here three times in the past month. Haven't paid once because everyone is so grateful to have been brought here. They take reservations for parties of five or more only- they have only five tables, the rest at the bar. The second time we dined it we arrived at about 7:30 on a Thursday. It was standing-room only. Waited about thirty minutes for a seat at the bar and were happy we did! We had the cracked conch (pretty awesome), crab bisque (awesome) and the sautéed mahi (stupendous). I won't order fish in most Florida joints, and if I do it will be fried. It's an unusual place that knows the fish well enough to be trusted to sautée it. This is one of those places. :) They have music on Fridays and Saturdays typical- it can get a bit loud. Oh yeah and the staff is great. Had a wonderful dinner with the family on a complete whim. Our server was very friendly and made us feel at home. Small and quaint to say the least but the favor here was BIG! The Fresh Catch was Hog (Snapper) Fish which I had sautéed as suggested. The crab options were plentiful and abundant, but most importantly fresh. The family had the Crab Platter for 2. We had an appetizer a few beers to begin and two desserts as our finale and found the check to be reasonable. Would certainly recommend to locals and travelers alike. Been to Gettin Crabby several times. The crab bisque is exceptional. Tasty and loaded with crab meat. The soft shell crab entree is one of my favorites. Two GIANT soft shells plus two sides. The crabs are delicious and complimented with a spicy dip that I love. There's also a tartar sauce dip and cocktail sauce. My wife loves the pepper jack cheeseburger with the fried plank potatoes. Scallops are sea scallops and not the little bay scallops. They did not overcook them. Yummy! Wait staff is very friendly and attentive. Very casual atmosphere and a small establishment, and worth the visit. Do not get deterred by the front appearance, as it looks like their is no where to park. My husband and I went here for our anniversary last night. This place is SIMPLY AMAZING. Casual fun place to eat with high end luxuries and service. They have an impressive beer selection and we were able to sample a few beers to decide which beer we loved best. The tables have large sheets of paper on them and crayons are on the table for the little ones to enjoy but my husband and I had fun drawing while we waited for our food. We got the cracked conch for our appetizer and it's delicious and light.... The best fried conch we've ever had. We got the platter for 2 for our meal with extra snow crab and then the banana rum cake was for dessert. The rum cake was warm, moist and delicious. Amazing. Just amazing. 1st time here. Have past this place a gazillion times and never realized it existed because it's sandwiched in between a gun and a propane store. Although the location is less than desirable, the food was Really excellent.. Had the conch soup for starters and the captain's platter which consisted of salmon, jumbo shrimp and scallops prepared your choice, fried, grilled, pan sauteed, jerked. I chose to get all blackened. The sides were tasty too. Tomato and cucumber salad was awesome. Brittany was our server and she was so freaking nice and helpful. They have live entertainment on the weekends. When you walk in this dump, your first thought will be, how the heck did they get so many stars on Yelp... I will attempt to answer this for you: THE FOOD IS AMAZING This is a small restaurant with not a lot of seating area, so I suggest calling ahead and making a reservation. Otherwise you'll be sitting at the bar, which is ok, too. We started with the CRAB BISQUE. If you get nothing else, get this. It is the meatiest bisque I have ever had, and you can tell they are serious about it by the fact that they have sherry on the table to finish it with. Next, we had a Red Shrimp appetizer. Our waiter, who was very good and attentive, said it was a deep water shrimp served peel and eat style. It was excellent. Very tender shrimp cooked perfectly and served with both butter and cocktail sauce. Wifey had the special: lightly blackened Red Grouper topped with three types of crab and a lemon butter sauce. For a side, she got the plantains. The fish was cooked perfectly as were the plantains. I chose the fish of the day: Yellowtail Snapper with a lemon butter garlic wine sauce. For sides, I got the steak fries and island cilantro rice. All were prepared perfectly, and it was an awesome dish. I left nothing on my plate. OH! I almost forgot! They have a great selection of local beers on tap. I had a Milk Stout and the Red Ale and both were awesome. I would NOT recommend the wine, however. I hope that helps. Just had the blackened tile fish special. It was cooked perfectly, tender and juicy. Topped with lump crab meat and a butter sauce. I chose the cucumber and tomato salad sans dressing and the cilantro rice as my sides. The rice has bits of sautéed red and yellow bell pepper. Yum! I'm becoming a regular here. The food is divine and reasonably priced. The only thing I would do to enhance the experience would be to add good acoustics so the people across the room wouldn't be so loud. It is a wonderful thing for my wallet and waistline that Gettin Crabby is in Southeast Florida, and not Chicago. My favorite thing on the menu is the crab chowder. It is all kinds of rich and amazing and chock full of crab. That is reason enough to visit Gettin' Crabby. We've been coming to the area for 20 years, and a few years in we discovered Gettin' Crabby. We've been to this place every year since. Can't say we've been to all the restaurants in the area. But very, very many. Gettin' Crabby is one of our favorite places ever. Tonight was our 20th Anniversary and we came down from Michigan to come here. We went to dinner and it surpassed our already high expectations. Mike and the staff were amazing we both got king and snow crab. Unreal. Best. Crab. Ever. Rice is phenomenal. Just an amazing experience. If you're looking for jacket and tie--you'll love this anyway. This place is completely unpretentious, laid back, and friendly. Excellent food. The catch of the day tasted fresh. The conch fritters actually has lots of conch meat and not just batter, very tasty and probably the best we've had. Fish dip had great flavor and it was nice to have jalapeños, tomatoes, and cucumbers to accompany it. The beer selection wasn't gigantic but there were plenty of great options on draft and in bottles including many local ones. Desserts were amazing so save room if you can. This spot was not what I expected on the outside, I thought it was gonna be on the harbor or ocean but it was cute place inside. We order 2lbs of snow crab, dungeoness crab and king crab and it was to die for. Snow is my fav. Everything was cooked to perfection and it just came out of the shell really easy. Wish I took a pic but we were starving we ate all of it!! Staff was wonderful as well. We sat there for 2 hours and both of us devoured the meal! Couldn't eat again for like 7 hours lol read more

This restaurant is a typical older Stuart type local place. It is small and you can rarely get a seat. There is a bar to sit at. It is a limited menu but does offer seafood that is fresh. My hubby likes to wait for the oysters to come in but I think they are super expensive. Not my favorite place. read more

We came here as an impulse after driving down to Port Salerno. If the other reviewers mentioned food orgasm, you better believe it . We sat at the bar (Saturday afternoon, wasn't crowded at all). Mark was very helpful in giving us suggestions on what to order. We trusted him base on the raves. Was the best decision ever! The shrimp just melt in your mouth. And the grouper with lumps of crab was so delicious, with generous portions that we are having food coma right now . Hubby orders a steak sandwich and he said it was awesome too (who cares when you have grouper and lumps of crab in front of you right??). Price isn't bad either for a seafood joint. Overall we definitely would come back again. Too bad it's 1.5 hours drive otherwise we would make it a monthly visit! read more

First off let me say, do not let the location/exterior of this place deter you. When walking up we had our reservations but once inside the place transforms to a pretty cool place. The smell of fresh fish and food was awesome. We arrived just after 1 and the place was pretty dead. I believe we just missed the wave of lunch goers. We were immediately greeted and seated by friendly staff. For drinks we opted for local florida brews. They had a decent selection even though the first one I chose they had just ran out of. For an appetizer my wife and I chose the royal red deep water shrimp! They were like mini lobsters and were delicious! For much we opted for the local fresh catches(triple tail and grouper). I had the triple tail sandwich and it was AMAZING(Get the boom boom sauce). My wife had the grouper and loved it. I wouldn't hesitate to get either again. They have a great selection of seafood so be prepared to make some tough decisions. All in all, I will definitely be back. I found this place on yelp and the reviews were so good we decided to go. I like the hole in the wall with the pirate ship feel. Our waitress was cheery and very patient with us. We are the typical couple who stares at each other when looking for an answer on an appetizer or 2nd round of beers. We went in for lunch which was around the same time for happy hour. $1 off beers and other items were part of that. We ordered the crab soup, peel and eat shrimp and crab cakes. Listening to her describe the shrimp and where they came from and how they're cooked just made you want to order them. We started off with the crab soup that could have been hotter but still delicious. The shrimp were so large in size that it topped the size we are so use to seeing. Seasoning was perfect and kept you wanting more. BF said it kinda tasted like lobster... I won't disagree. I honestly haven't had crab cakes in years and it wasn't the best experience. Eating the crab cakes here were amazing. I now have a better understanding on why people love them. Don't judge a book by its cover and go check this place out. read more
