Dear lord... I'm in seafood heaven! We popped in here on our way back home, and it was out of our way and completely 100% worth it. We started with a wonderful beer, La Fin du monde and it was ice cold with a nice ice cold glass. After Mark told us the specials, we both opted for them. I had the triple tail sandwich, which was so amazing I skipped the bun! It was like sex in my mouth.. yes you totally read that right! Hubby had the grouper that was topped with fresh delicious heavenly crab with a sauce on it that made him say "oooh it's so good"! The cilantro rice was a perfect side and the coleslaw was crunchy, cool and tasty. Mark then proceeded to entice us with dessert... well DUH!... why wouldn't we after the meal we just scarfed down... p.s. I didn't share my meal... I opted for the key lime torte and he did the sunshine orange cake.. look at the pics. The key lime pie was exactly as it should be. I did make reservations but it wasn't overly crowded at 7 pm on this Friday night. We walked in the back door and the bar was completely full and the musician was setting up. The owner (I think) greeted us and asked if we had reservations.We were seated right away. Our server , Jeffrey was very attentive , he mentioned the local craft beers and suggested Sailfish per my liking of something light. It was very good. He gave us the rundown of all the specials and the fresh catch. We ordered the tender conch for an appetizer, it was very tender, light fried, seasoned perfectly and delicious! I had the fresh catch triple tail blackened with the tomato and cucumber side salad. This fish was cooked to perfection! It was excellent, the blackened seasoning was pretty spicy but very good. The cucumber and tomatoes were excellent too! I love the casual atmosphere, paper table cloths and that this place is not too far of a drive for me. I have to remember that it is open for lunch! Let me start by saying I loved this place. However, I need to be clear on my experience and what others should expect. The staff are incredibly friendly and fun to work with. The food is great. Fresh, unique to the area and a great deal. They have wine and beer which is great and a great deal. The restaurant is "rustic" to be clear. Not for everyone, but something I really enjoyed. A live band was playing the night we went. Everything went great until the band decided to express some off color comments about homosexuals that were pretty offensive being that I went with my husband and friends. I'm sure they might have been playing to the crowd, it just tainted my experience. I'll go back, the band is just not doing the restaurant any favors. read more

Crab bisque: who came up with this recipe? No offense but it's watery and does not taste like crab. Blah. Eastern shore crab cakes: no way. I'm from the eastern shore of Maryland - we do use salt and we don't use nutmeg in our crab cakes. That was not only overkill, the patties are bland and don't even taste like crab. And way too much filler. Again, blah. Snow crab: decent Fried shrimp: very good Sides: is that nutmeg in the rice too? Seriously guys - it's not good, and it's in too many items. Update: it's still delicious but came back a year later and tried to order the same thing and the waitress said the red shrimp were only served as an appetizer and couldn't and never were a part of the captain's platter. Quite disappointing as we drove out of our way to eat there for my birthday. Hoping that was a fluke but I will call ahead and ask next time before driving over. Had to order weird to get the red shrimp and it wasnt the same. Still a very good restaurant just really disappointed me last visit. read more

Gettin Crabby is a diamond in the rough! Amazing service and food in what looks like an old fashioned dive bar/seafood joint. The type of place my daddy would have loved with cold beer, excellent food, and live music. Unpretentious and downright basic, they aren't here to impress anyone with anything except what they do best. I rarely order conch in the U.S., but my daughter wanted to try the fritters and cracked conch. The fritters were served hot, and were light and fluffy with lots of chewy conch pieces throughout. Perfectly seasoned they also came with a lemon wedge and some good dipping sauce. My daughter and I shared the cracked conch platter. It came with a very generous portion of perfectly tenderized, hot, and crispy conch and sides of plantains and cilantro-lime rice. Delicious! 25 years of living in the Bahamas and I'm very picky about my conch. This was pretty much the best tasting, best prepared I've ever had in the states. Another companion had the catch of the day fish sandwich. He received a large portion of hot, flaky, and well-seasoned fish on a soft roll with all the toppings and a generous portion of French fries. Overall, Gettin Crabby was a huge hit and when we're in the area again we'll definitely be back! read more

We have been here a handful of times and every time we have not been disappointed!! Both the service and the food is excellent. You will not leave hungry. My favorite is their crab bisque sooo good! I wanted to give this more stars because it is a cute little beach restaurant. The decor is cute and there is beach art for sale. The reason I couldn't give it a high mark is because it took a long time and the place wasn't busy at 11:30 for lunch. We were the first ones there. There was a fruit fly buzzing my head and a spider on the table. The food was average tasting and I was given a super small amount of fries so I left hungry after paying 15 dollars. One of the people I was with reported being sick after and I had a slight touch of intestinal issues.... nothing major. I am really wondering how this place has 4.5 stars. Maybe I came during a bad day..... I won't try again tho. read more

The best casual seafood spot in Stuart! Crab bisque, crab cakes, and royal red shrimp are the best. The only downfalls- you need a reservation for dinner and there's not a lot of parking. The downfalls are worth it for the delicious food. Highly recommend! read more

We arrived without a reservation, which we learned was a mistake. But we found space at the bar, which was fine. This place is nothing to look at from the outside, but the food is great. The food was great. Steamed blue crabs, the fish special, and hog fish, were among our choices. The steamed crabs were delicious, and the fish was great. My cucumber and tomato salad never arrived, but I honestly didn't miss it, and my friend said it was nothing to write home about. The service was good...the ladies behind the bar took good care of us! The atmosphere was great, too. Nothing fancy, but fun. read more

I was a fan of Gettin Crabby. We have taken more than 10 friends over the last several years there to eat. It pains me to write this but I'm hoping I can get some movement from the owners to fix their situation. We were meeting another couple for dinner here in early July. We got there first. When we walked in we were knocked over by the distinct smell of urine or a troubled bathroom. We texted our friends and moved dinner. Over this past weekend I went back to make sure the issue had been fixed.....unfortunately it has not. I am so bummed. I can't dine at a place that serves great food but the smell of disinfectant overpowers my senses. It takes away from the experience. Obviously, I'm in a minority because the tables have had plenty of patrons but I have to believe they can smell it as well. Please, repair the issue. I want to dine with you again. I use to to love this place but now I just like it. I'm not sure of the politics but when I first started coming here there was a woman who was very welcoming and would go out of her way to hear feedback from customers. Currently, the head guy, who I'm guessing is the owner lacks personality. My parents go on a regular basis and when I'm in town we usually make an effort to stop in for dinner. You would think a small business owner would at very least recognize our faces but he seems to suffer from mild amnesia. The menu hasn't changed much from back when I first started eating there. However, they do have a new NOT so pleasant fishy smell. I know it's a seafood restaurant but this smell makes me think of NOT fresh seafood. I'm not sure who our server was since the two servers working the room kept coming by the table asking redundant questions which eventually became annoying. My meal this evening was sub par. We shared conch fritters, but I don't remember ordering them well done. The plantains (maduro style) are one of my favor sides, but this evening several were not ripe and overall they were over cooked. Whoever prepared the fresh catch sandwich looks like he was aiming for the bread but didn't quite hit the target. I'd give them a D+ on presentation. As I mentioned, I use to love this place and I hope someday I can update my review. I'm going to continue to eat there but they have to check their egos and fix some issues. Went tonight and most of us got the catch of the day which was the yellow-tailed snapper. It was absolutely amazing. All of the food was fresh and prepared perfectly. The building is a kind of a old 1950's Bahamian feel...dirt parking and nothing exciting....BUT THEN! 3 of us stopped in today to try this little hidden gem for the the first time and was thoroughly impressed by the staff, the food and it presentation. We all started with a cup of the finest crab bisque......ANYWHERE. I went for daily special of Golden Tile fish, with a side of cilantro rice and cucumber salad. All excellent and highly recommended, I have been to 5 Star multi million dollar steak houses that pale in comparison to what I ate here. My dinner partners both had burgers....thick, juicy and cooked to perfect temperature. They were served with thick Texas cut steak house fries and Cole slaw. Our server Jeff was great, he was very attentive with a friendly welcoming personality. We will all gladly spend our money here again! read more

Been to Gettin Crabby several times. The crab bisque is exceptional. Tasty and loaded with crab meat. The soft shell crab entree is one of my favorites. Two GIANT soft shells plus two sides. The crabs are delicious and complimented with a spicy dip that I love. There's also a tartar sauce dip and cocktail sauce. My wife loves the pepper jack cheeseburger with the fried plank potatoes. The burger is thick (8 oz) and delicious. It's also a wonderful bargain at $9.00. read more

I've been to this restaurant before and for a year or more could never remember the name of the restaurant because I don't live in Stuart. I am so glad I found the name of it and I am here eating food that is so delicious and fresh. They couldn't be nicer and the place is decorated perfectly.
