The food is edible but did not taste fresh or flavorful. The pricing is quite expensive for the portions you are given and there is an upcharge for almost everything. There was only one server when I went and they doubled as the cashier, to go orders and waitress. The restaurant was not exactly the cleanest with a huge B score on the window and sticky ketchup dispenser. Gratuity is automatically included at 15% for under 4 people and 18% for over 4 people. You ever just crave some seafood during lunch. Well I arrived here for one of my solo lunches. I noticed the "B" grade on the door. I should've just left after seeing that grade for a seafood restaurant. Nonetheless I stayed and was the only patron. My food came out as soon as I ordered it. Wow never experienced that. I am not a seafood boil type so I figured this is how they do it. My food was flavorful but really salty. Once I got my check. I was so confused there was a $8 service fee. When I asked the waitress she said it's like a tip that's already included. There was a place on the check for the tip also so very sketchy. What bothered me is I got Norovirus after eating at this restaurant. Got the tasty appetizers to us quickly (hushpuppies and kalamari), and the Thai tea is pretty good. You can either get a preset combo for cheaper, or mix and match for a bit more. Got some 1lb Snow Crab Legs / 1lb Lobster Tail boil, and 1lb Snow Crab Legs boil / Fried Shrimp boil, one of which was a preset combo. Roll those sleeves up, you'll be covered in juicy goodness very quickly. The potato and corn is soaking in the sauce as well, and is a great break. Wait staff was present and available throughout without intrusion or complete absentia. Pay experience was a breeze, but snow crab will easily run you into the mid $100s for 2 diners. The food is awesome. The food has great seasoning. However the staff may seem bias or racist. Also the staff rushes people after they are eating. I was eating during lunch time and there was not anyone there. The lady at the front continued staring at me and when I was finish eating she continued to stare. I didn't ask for the check because I was relaxing. In the next minute she hands me the check and pretty much want me out of there. I said thank you after signing the check with a tip. Onion rings...they're crispy & have some onion flavor, BUT, they're not real onion rings. Not rings of onion coated in batter. They're just batter in a ring shape that has, I don't know, perhaps chopped onion in the batter. This place is excellent. We've been to many other Cajun seafood restaurants and this is by far the best. We've been coming here regularly for about one year and drive from 45 minutes away. Stumbled on this place because of having to be in Hamden. Come for the food, not the ambiance. We ordered NE clam chowder, fried catfish and fried clam strip baskets (which come with fries). The chowder was tasty and creamy, but not as good as Cheshire's Close Harbor, the yardstick I use to compare chowders. The baskets were fresh, ample and tasty. The oil was super fresh. Service was good, but we were early. They lost one star because they automatically charged a 15% tip (they post that an automatic tip will be added to parties of 4 or more, we were two), then they suggested another tip on the credit card slip. Bad form. We live in Cheshire, so our coming here often is not likely, but I'd like to try one of their boils someday. If we're in the area around dinner time another visit is a possibility. read more

Not a fan- We really enjoy going to seafood boil places and find ourselves typically frequenting the same one in New Haven often. One Friday night, I convinced my boyfriend to try this place, as it was closer to our home. We went and the location was pretty empty, so we got a seat and were waited on pretty quickly. We noticed that the prices were a bit more than the other boil places we've been, but it was no big deal. Our waitress was very nice and explained the menu to us well. The disappointment mostly came from the food and the manager's customer service. My boyfriend ordered mussels in his bag and much to his disappointment, when they arrived, the bag was filled with just shells... no meat. Additionally, the sauces in the bag are so terribly oil-based, that the seasoning and oil separated in the bag before it was given to us. The shrimp was very overcooked and small, and lastly we were extremely unsatisfied with the quality of the seafood. I did not want make a stink about it, but my boyfriend did want to mention the mussels, as it was a majority of his meal and he barely ate. The manager handled this comment terribly. He insisted that they did not serve him just shells and told us he would bring another bowl to prove it. At that point, we just wanted our check. I eat a lot of crab boils in various cities and states and I thoroughly enjoyed Crab Town's food, flavoring and pricing. Their options were not over priced and they have daily specials that I felt like were reasonable. My sister and I tried the fried shrimp with sweet potato fries (yummy). I had crawfish and snow crab legs and she had shrimp and snow crab legs. We are creole and the Cajun flavor did not disappoint. The restaurant just opened two weeks ago. Have to say everything was excellent . My husband and I had the Thursday special which is a lb of Dungeness crab and a pound of shrimp. It was very fresh. We also had their hush puppies and cajun fries as an appetizer. Both were delish. The customer service from jessy and yang was awesome. I am very picky when it comes to Dungeness crab and ussually travel to New York or san Francisco to enjoy fresh seafood. I have been eyeing the sign that was put up weeks ago about a new crab place coming to Hamden. I love seafood and have been travelling 45+ minutes to go to places that offer a seafood bag with fresh ingredients and a delicious sauces. Well i no longer have to drive so far as Crab Town has the goods. I ordered the weekend special of lobster tail, crab legs and shrimp. I added a pound of king crab legs in addition to the potatoes and corn that are in the bag. I got the house special sauce (medium) and it was tangy, sweet and scrumptious. Seafood the way it's meant to be; boiled and seasoned perfectly and served in a large plastic bag to keep it warm as you eat. They offer five different seasoning combos but my favorite is their custom blend of all five! Wow, I could drink that stuff out of a bottle! My bf and I like this place so much that we take the short drove from Ansonia once a week. A few weeks ago, we went 3 times in 8 days!!! Did I tell you how good it is?!
