Service is fine. Food was mediocre. I wasn't extremely impressed so I doubt I'll be back.

Love that Chambersburg has a spot for seafood boils! They know how to do it right. Also the bubble tea is the best in the area.

Well, this is my last review of 2025 and what a better place to conclude this year than Big Mikes…read moreCrabhouse ! We decided to stop in here as it's been a while since we last started here and the seafood is simply outstanding. The staff is very welcoming helpful and they will answer any questions that you may have and they make sure you're well taken care of. We had a pound and a half of the steam shrimp which are an extremely nice size and done to perfection and we also had the crabcake and two fried shrimp which were butterfly and the flavor is just incredible and the crabcake all crab and it was just amazing . The location is very easy. It's right next to the Hanover post office on the corner. There's plenty of parking along the street and in the back in their small parking lot and they are known for their crabs and there were people coming and left and right picking up their orders and they do a really nice business here. The inside is always very clean. Tables are clean and it's a small place but it's very relaxing and you can bring your own bottle as well. So if you're in the area and you're looking for some good crabs, shrimp and seafood give this place a try you will not be disappointed . Happy New Year !

I've been reading all the good reviews about this place for a while now so we finally decided to…read moremeet friends there for a late lunch. The lunch menu is the same as the dinner menu. This restaurant is located in Fairfield, PA. They need to update the address on their website. We were directed to 989 Track Rd. but the actual address is 2789 Track Rd. I don't have any explanation for this discrepancy. This is a very casual place; the dining area is open to the bar, which I don't particularly care for, but it was clean. There is also a covered deck outside where you can sit and have your meal as well. The plastic bucket in the middle of the table was meant to be the communal waste can for discarded crab shells, shrimp skins, paper trash, etc. I guess it was a handy thing to have if you're eating crabs but kind of disgusting if you're not. I'd prefer NOT to have to look at the discarded remains of my fellow dining partners meals. My girlfriend and I each ordered wine; she a White Zinfandel and for myself a Pinot Grigio. Both were such an inexpensive version and so sickeningly sweet that we both winced when we took a sip. Hubby was happy with his Stella on tap. It's more of a beer place. My friend and I split an appetizer of peel and eat shrimp. They really were delicious and were more than just Old Bay Seafood seasoning; there was just something that made them really tasty. I tried one of her hush puppies and it was probably the best hush puppy I've ever eaten. My Crab Imperial was OK. It wasn't creamy. It was kind of chunky which was a little bit offputting. I'm not sure what type of crab was used‍The baked potato was way overcooked and had so much butter on it that I couldn't taste the potato. It was just a mushy greasy mess. Our salads came in such small plastic bowls that mine tipped over the first time I put my fork inside. My hubby's fish was outstanding and my girlfriend's husband gobbled up his dinner, so I'm assuming it was really good as well. Overall, it was ok ... I didn't feel it lived up to all the good reviews that it has gotten.

When the waitress finally arrived, she mentioned she was the only one working and implied that the slow service would continue throughout the evening. Thankfully, my husband quickly looked up another local spot, and that's when we found Captain Krab Cajun Seafood & Boil--what a blessing! Not only did we enjoy incredible food and exceptional service, but both the server and the owner went above and beyond to make our daughter's birthday truly special. We were treated to fresh, delicious seafood, a sparkler candle dessert, a plush gift for the birthday girl, and even a light-up birthday sign! We felt like part of their family. We ordered oysters, clam chowder, boiled eggs, baby clams, and snow crab legs--everything was perfectly cooked and packed with flavor. You can even customize your meal by choosing from four different seasonings and five levels of spiciness, which makes it ideal for families or groups with mixed tastes. One of the most fun parts? You can write on the walls, tables, and even the ceiling! They also have a claw machine for the kids (and kids at heart). We'll absolutely be back next time we're in town! P.S. It's BYOB!

Update to my review more than a year ago. I've been here twice this year and there are reasons it's…read morenot more often. Both visits showed me business has slowed. I'm guessing some of what I experienced both times this year may be a factor for others as well. Overall this is a nice locally owned restaurant. I like to support local business when I can. But what I encounter here prevents me from doing so often. The big issues are the elderly woman who seems to be the primary server as she appears to be here all of the times I've been here. She's abrupt, seems passive aggressive. I'm afraid to ask for what I want, such as no oil on my perfectly good green beans that they screw up by putting oil all over, with garlic. I just wanted healthy green beans, not oiled up ones. She seemed to be very bothered or get mad. Then the passive side cones out when she says the worn out server talk of wishing me a nice day when I pay the bill. Ironically their vegetarian menu item is three sides (veggie choices that they already have oiled up or you get steamed. Don't ask for the green beans without the oil, the server told me she doesn't know how the cook makes them, he just does it the way he does. Not exactly what I'd expect or want to hear. I'd expect an answer that would be something along the lines of asking the cook not to do the oil, just steam or cook in water instead. Nope, not here. Not a vegetarian or vegan friendly place at all. Too bad, since it's in an area of farms and likely has people shopping at farm stands who might stop for a bite too. The "haddock" looked and tasted more like flounder or tilapia to me (see pic). But it was good and baked without oil or butter as I asked. I asked for lemon and got two small slices. Not enough for the fish let alone for the two veggies, and the unsweetened ice tea i ordered as well. This place has promise and the food is mostly good but some more customer friendly changes should be made, including not being so skimpy on the lemon. I gave just 3 stars this year because the other 2 were when I had a much younger more accommodating server who made my meal eating a good experience unlike this and my last visit.
